A CASE STUDY OF A SERVICE ORGANISATION IN MALAYSIA: EMPLOYEES’ WORK-LIFE BALANCE, WORK COMMITMENT & LEADERSHIP STYLE ON JOB SATISFACTION DURING REMOTE WORKING 马来西亚某服务机构个案研究:员工工作与生活平衡、工作承诺与领导风格对远程工作满意度的影响

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between work-life balance, work commitment, leadership style, and job satisfaction during remote working among non-managerial workers at the workplace of a service organisation in Malaysia. A total of 169 respondents participated in the survey. The findings of the study indicated that a healthy work-life balance and a good work commitment have a significant positive relationship on employee's level of job satisfaction during remote working. Leadership does not have a significant influence on one's level of job satisfaction during remote working. Employees who report high levels of satisfaction in their jobs tend to be more dedicated and productive. The findings of this study can give a potential to make a significant contribution to previous investigations on the management and organisational behaviour of organisations when they wanted to apply work from home policy to their employees. As a direct consequence of this, it is much simpler to address conflicts in the organisation such as high employee turnover, unethical behaviour, low productivity, and excessive absenteeism. In addition, this study provides readers, future researchers, HR managers, and the government with information that can be helpful in gaining a better understanding of the factors in the workplace that can influence employee job satisfaction.

THE IMPACT OF SUSTAINABILITY ASSURANCE AND PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS ON INVESTMENT DECISION-MAKING IN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INVESTING 社会责任投资中可持续性保证和人格特征对投资决策的影响

Assurance reporting for non-financial information, such as sustainability reporting, is no longer guaranteed for quality, which led to differences in individual investors’ investment decision-making regarding social responsibility investing (SRI). This is mostly due to the report’s relative novelty and the unregulated nature of practices reported by the company. While professional accountants play a major role in the assurance market, other professionals also contribute to the overall proportions. Hence, this study endeavours to extend the literature on the type of assuror and the level of assurance by examining how they influence individual investment decision-making when they attempt to achieve the best environmental goals for their investment funds through the evaluation of environmental reporting assurance options. The goal of the study is to propose a conceptual model from the individual investors’ point of view, and evaluate the role of personal characteristics by using the Big Five Inventory (BFI) measurement as a possible moderator between the types of assurors and the level of assurance in decision-making.

This conceptual study aims to highlight the difficulties start-ups had in Johor during the COVID-19 pandemic. The issues that the start-up faces include those related to finances, human resources, support mechanisms, marketing, and crisis management. These are the independent variables in this study. Performance of the start-up is the dependent variable in the meantime. This study will adopted quantitative approach and the analysis will used IBM SPSS version 26. The survey will be conducted on start-up companies in Johor which have been active for 1 year until 9 years of operation and consist of maximum 80 employees. The conceptual framework created in this study may be utilised as a manual to assist start-up owners in dealing with a variety of difficulties during a pandemic outbreak or economic downturn.

THE DYNAMICS OF CASHLESS SOCIETY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW 无现金社会的动态:系统回顾

The cashless society is a collective vision of global citizens to create a faster, more flexible, automated payment system. This study aims to formulate findings on publications from 2012-2022, focusing on a cashless society. Using the Systematic Literature Review approach, this study uses sources from the Scopus database to identify common understanding, supporting factors, and challenges of a cashless society from the views of researchers. This study found that forming a cashless society is a solution to efforts to grow the economy and speed of transactions in society. Another benefit is preventing corruption, levies, and fraud where electronic payments made on record have suppressed this crime. However, the dark side of a cashless society is the potential invasion of privacy and paralysis of the economic system caused by the failure of the internet system.

MARKET BASKET ANALYSIS USING APRIORI ALGORITHM: GROCERY ITEMS RECOMMENDATION 基于先验算法的购物篮分析:杂货商品推荐

A grocery list is frequently used to make sure that only essential items are bought and nothing else is forgotten. Due to the extensive list of items, they must buy each month, people frequently forget what they need to buy when they get to the supermarket. Even with a list, there are still things that get left out. Therefore, an application called MyGrocery is proposed that offers suggestions for items users frequently buy together and aids users in creating grocery lists. This might help them make a personalised grocery list with items that are suggested based on their past purchases. The aim is to help them keep track of what they have bought as well as to help them create personalised grocery lists. Market basket analysis is used to find associations between items in MyGrocery using past purchased history. The result shows the significant recommendation by MyGrocery where the Market Basket Analysis, which is carried out using the Apriori Algorithm, displayed the recommended item following the calculation of lift value.

EVALUATING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL PERFORMANCE OF MICRO-ENTERPRISES IN THE BICOL REGION, PHILIPPINES 评价菲律宾比科尔地区微型企业的创业绩效

This article examines the entrepreneurial performance of micro-enterprises in the Bicol region, Philippines, using the 14 pillars of the Global Entrepreneurship Index. It also examines the effect of managerial efficiency on economic performance and the significant influence between the development index and economic performance. Micro enterprises contribute to economic development as they comprise the largest portion of the micro, small and medium enterprise sector and provide the biggest share of the country’s employment. However, micro-enterprises still face significant obstacles to growth. Using descriptive statistics, slack-based data envelopment analysis, bootstrap-bias corrected and accelerated regression, multivariate analysis, and hierarchical regression, the study found out that micro-enterprises usually practice opportunity perception, start-up skills, networking, cultural support, and high growth. Micro enterprises that showed strong development performance have managerial efficiency indicating no shortage in sales and their potential. Moreover, entrepreneurial activity stimulates attitude, aspiration, and monthly sales of micro-enterprises. It directly and highly affects sales because micro-enterprises always practice the pillars of technology absorption, opportunity start-up, competition, and human capital. This article illustrates a model suggesting that micro-enterprises should improve opportunity perception, start-up skills, risk acceptance, process innovation, high growth, and internationalization to improve sales. Furthermore, the study may provide tips for micro-enterprises in the Philippines and may be used as a basis for programs and policies to support their development.

The global gradual economic recovery has restored the voluntary turnover rate to the level before the outbreak of the epidemic. Cultural differences are considered to be an additional reason for the brain drain of foreign multinational enterprises. A survey was conducted to collect responses from 202 millennial in selected foreign multinational corporations in China. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between human resource practice (HRPs) mediated by individualism/ collectivism (IC) and turnover intention (TI) by adopting the recognized and well-established social exchange theory, so as to provide new academic ideas for the Millennium employee management of multinational corporations in China. This study was utilized a cross-sectional study as a tools for data collection. For data analysis, this study implemented a Partial-Least Square (PLS) as tools of data analysis. The results highlight the mediating role of individualism/collectivism, reduce Millennium employee turnover intention. In addition, the results verify the negative effect of human resource practice on turnover intention. Therefore, it is important for the management of multinational enterprises in China to develop human resources practices that meet the cultural cognitive of Chinese employees. This study is the first to measure the mediating effect of individualism/collectivism, which defines the theoretical and practical significance and the direction of future research. In addition, more cultural factors will be added to the future research.

THE IMPACT OF WORKPLACE DEMOCRACY ON THE PROACTIVE BEHAVIOUR OF EMPLOYEES 职场民主对员工主动行为的影响

Proactive employee behaviour provides immense benefits to organisations at both macro and micro levels of analysis. Studies have suggested workplace democracy one of its significant antecedents. However, research on the workplace democracy–proactive employee behaviour relationship has been grossly neglected. The current study employed the proactive behaviour theory to address the general association between workplace democracy and proactive employee behaviour in Iraqi higher educational institutions, based on assessments of the constructs at the global level of analysis. Scoping review was used in sourcing relevant literature upon which the hypothesis was developed. In testing the hypothesis, data were collected from a sample of 244 faculty (Ffemale, 29.02%; Mmale, 70.98%) drawn from Al-Qadisiyah University, using validated measures of workplace democracy (α = 0.915) and proactive behaviour (α = 0.787). PLS-SEM in SmartPLS was used in the analysis and test of the hypothesis. The results confirm that workplace democracy significantly and positively impacts the proactive behaviours of employees at the Al-Qadisiyah University (β = 0.011, t = 2.799, p = 0.005). Based on the discussion of the results, several recommendations were proffered.

ANALYSIS ON FACTORS INFLUENCE THE PRICE OF GOLD IN MALAYSIA 分析影响马来西亚黄金价格的因素

Gold, a valuable and precious metal has been served as property and financial assets despite their uprising in prices. The price of gold keeps increasing in the long-run, however quite fluctuate and volatile in short-run. This paper inspired to identify the factors which influences the gold price in Malaysia with selected macroeconomics determinants such as inflation rate, interest rate and exchange rate in yearly period from 1980 until 2020. In achieving the objectives of this study, some diagnostic tests along with regression analysis were run and data analysed using STATA software. The findings reveal that inflation and exchange rate were significantly influenced the price of gold, while interest rate is statistically insignificant.

ARE BANKING INDUSTRY MORE RESILIENT AGAINST THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN INDONESIA? 印尼银行业是否更能抵御COVID-19大流行?

This research aims to examine the resilience of the banking industry due to Covid-19. The study focuses on Commercial Banks in Indonesia along January 2017 to April 2021. The study uses a descriptive analysis method of the banking industry in Indonesia with the variables tested including ROA, CAR, LDR, NPL, NIM and BOPO using VAR/VECM analysis. The results show that VECM modelling at the 2nd lag optimum is used at this analysis. Variables that significantly affect banking performance in the short and long run are CAR, LDR, NPL, NIM, BOPO and ROA at 1st lag, but at 2nd lag the LDR variable has no significant effect on ROA in the short run. The shock caused by the variables CAR, LDR, NPL, NIM, BOPO and ROA itself is responded by ROA through the Impulse Response Function and will be corrected to ease moving towards early equilibrium (conditions before the Covid-19 pandemic) within a period of time recovery between 5 months to 30 months. Even though the banking industry is contracting and inefficiency has occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the resilience of the banking industry is still maintained and under control due to the implementation of various stimulus policies issued by the OJK to mitigate banking risks during the Covid-19 pandemic which has the potential issues to financial distress.
