Abstract This article intends to examine the level of awareness and use of mobile phone applications by medical librarians in university libraries and health centers in Iran. A sample of 35 librarians working in the libraries and hospitals of the University of Medical Sciences was selected by census method. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data, and its validity and reliability were measured. The results showed that the level of knowledge and understanding of medical librarians is increasing based on their information or experiences from mobile applications. Therefore, necessary measures should be taken to facilitate access to these applications in medical libraries.

Abstract This study focuses on analyzing the trends in article processing charges (APCs) levied by open access journals. To gather the required data, a CSV file was generated from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The APC values were assessed and converted into standardized currencies, including INR and USD. Among the 17,379 journals included in the DOAJ, only 5,122 journals were found to charge APCs. Through the examination of the collected data, it was discovered that the highest APC amount recorded was INR 518,334.95 (equivalent to USD 6680.46), while the lowest APC observed was INR 1.04 (equivalent to USD 0.013).

The Interactive Web—Leaving Twitter 交互式网络——离开推特
Q2 Social Sciences Pub Date : 2023-01-02 DOI: 10.1080/15424065.2023.2176962
Susan E. Swogger
Abstract This column of the Interactive Web discusses the author’s experiences with Twitter as a medical librarian, reasons for leaving, and a consideration of potential alternatives or replacements. There has been a large and active community of medical librarians on Twitter for many years, linked by use of #medlibs hashtag—but recent changes to the platform may drive some to depart. There are other social media platforms with long-standing librarian communities, but the expanding open source platform Mastodon shows particular promise.

Abstract Librarians, clinicians, and library patrons would benefit from exploring the potential of applying mobile technology to help improve their overall health and wellness. One of the most common problems experienced by many children, adolescents, and adults is sleeplessness, poor sleep quality, and inadequate sleep hygiene. A popular and emerging trend in mobile technology is the development of sleep improvement and tracking apps. These apps have infiltrated the market, making it difficult for users to discern which apps will appeal to them without downloading and testing each of them. This article aims to introduce users to 10 popular sleeping apps and their benefits.

Epistemonikos: A Free Database for Medical and Systematic Review Researchers Epistemonikos:医学和系统评价研究人员的免费数据库

Abstract Many medical and health science librarians are involved in finding systematic reviews through literature searches. In addition, librarians also work on creating new systematic reviews through cooperative research endeavors. Epistemonikos is a free database that is effective for locating systematic reviews in the biomedical field. While the database is more limited in content and lacks some of the features that paid databases like Embase and Scopus offer, Epistemonikos is a useful complementary tool for retrieving and analyzing systematic reviews.
