In recent years, the organisations have become more awaken of the vital role played by green initiatives. This paper seeks to examine how green human resource management (GHRM) contributes to the environmental performance (EPF) through employee work-life. Based on a comprehensive literature review on green HRM and EPF, a theoretical model was proposed for investigation in which direct and indirect effects of green HRM (GHRM) on EPF were tested relying on a survey data collected from 356 employees of leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED)-certified companies using structural equation modelling (SEM) methodology. The results evidenced significant mediation effect of work-life in the relationship of GHRM and EPF; however, the mediation via private life could not be supported. Finally, the paper discusses implications of findings for the practitioners and direction for future research.

Public participation and environmental governance in Singapore 新加坡的公众参与与环境治理

Singapore is as a very small city-state with limited human and natural resources. It has successfully moved from a developing to a newly developed country, and has maintained its economic viability during many global economic crises. Effective governance and management of resources has been a key factor in ensuring national survival. However, its formal democratic processes have been considered limited, especially in terms of public participation. Given that effective governance often presupposes some degree of public participation this paper explores the role of public participation in the management of the environment in Singapore. It aims to identify (i) the availability of information about environmental laws and regulations, environmental issues, environmental conditions and other relevant information regarding environmental management, (ii) opportunities for citizens to provide input and comments about environmental issues and (iii) opportunities for citizens to exchange their ideas with others.

Construction and initial validation of a scale of attachment to work objects - WOAS 工作对象附着量表的构建和初步验证-WOAS

This article presents the results of a series of five studies to construct and validate a Workplace Objects Attachment Scale (WOAS). In total, 851 people employed in various professional sectors (health, education or services) participated in five successive studies. A questionnaire of attachment to objects in the workplace was constructed, based on Scrima's (2015) research and taking a qualitative approach (Study 1). Study 2 revealed that the questionnaire has a unidimensional factor structure, which was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis (Study 3). The questionnaire was shown to have good reliability, as evaluated by its temporal stability over a time span of 3 weeks (Study 4). As expected, we found positive links between the WOAS and the emotional dimensions of the Workplace Attachment Scale, Organizational Commitment Scale and Organizational Citizenship Behaviour scale, and a negative link between workplace object attachment and the intention to leave the organisation (Study 5).

Unwrapping the relation between work environment and job satisfaction 揭示工作环境与工作满意度之间的关系

This research examined the influence of the work environment on employees' job satisfaction in the banking sector in the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) region. As the banking industry in the region confronts many challenges, it is essential that banks retain their talent. Hence, this research explored essential elements that could influence job satisfaction and impact employee decisions to stay or leave. A quantitative research design was used on a sample of 250 employees from four GCC countries to explain the relationship between three categories of work environment, human, technical, organisational and job satisfaction. Results indicated that employee work environment has significant positive relationships on job satisfaction level in terms of participation, communication, technology, trust, and management leadership. Office layout and work space were not related to job satisfaction. The study recommended actions for management to improve banks' work environment, which in turn will increase employee satisfaction and reduce turnover in the sector.

A new look at transport terminals: workplaces for a sustainable mobility 交通终端的新面貌:可持续移动的工作场所

The Brundtland Commission's report in 1987 defined sustainable development as development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. On the basis of this statement Travel Demand Management policies have been proposed with the objective of changing travel behaviour and therefore increasing transport systems efficiency. Teleworking has been one of the strategies adopted to reduce the number of peak-period trips thanks to the help of the new technologies. However, the world of business is changing and so are the new workers. Today, the concept of flexible workplaces is gaining more and more ground and professionals are more willing to travel, even with the aim of reducing the stress due to routine. In this respect, the concept of workplaces has changed during the years and transport terminals are supporting this new trend. Indeed, this manuscript deals with this new era of workplaces for a sustainable mobility.

Determinants for the professionalisation of the waste management industry: a comparative review of the UK and Queensland, Australia 废物管理行业专业化的决定因素:英国和澳大利亚昆士兰的比较回顾

The waste and recycling sector is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic global sectors, and the professional recognition of the industry and those who work within it is an essential part of this development. This paper compares the relative professionalisation of the waste management sector in the UK against that of Queensland (Australia). Whilst the literature on professionalisation is extensive, there is a growing body of work which questions the parameters required for professionalisation to occur. The size and perceived levels of development of the industry, the supporting measures such as the provision of industry associations, training and academia (including research) are clearly differentiated between these two countries, and whilst existing literature provides the corresponding link to the differences in professionalisation between countries, several factors remain unaccounted for. Whilst this paper identifies the critical elements under which the UK's waste management sector achieved professionalisation. It is concluded that the waste management sector in Queensland will not progress to professionalisation under the same characteristics as those in the UK; rather professionalisation will be achieved under a new model.

Building green brand relations: the role of green brand image as significant driver 构建绿色品牌关系:绿色品牌形象的重要驱动作用

The study investigated the role of green brand image in building green brand trust, green brand attachment, and green brand commitment. Additionally, the study developed and validated measurement scales of two novel constructs 'green brand attachment' and 'green brand commitment'. Based on literature review and identified gaps the study proposed an integrated theoretical model. To empirically test the proposed model this study collected data from 318 individual customers of electronics and information technology brands with the help of self-administered questionnaire survey method. The study utilised Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique to statistically analyse measurement and structural models. The model fit indices indicated that proposed theoretical model is good fit with the data used in study. Confirmatory factor analysis depicted that the data has successfully fulfilled the requirements of reliability, convergent validity and discriminative validity. The results of structural model revealed that green brand image plays significant positive role in building green brand trust, green brand attachment and green brand commitment. Additionally, the results indicated that green brand trust partially mediates the relationship of green brand image with green brand attachment and green brand commitment. It is concluded that green brand image is a significant driver in relationship building process. Additionally, it is also established that building green brand relations lead towards environmental sustainability and conservation of resources.

We hypothesized that increased aortic forward pressure wave amplitude (Pf), which is determined by characteristic impedance (Zc) in the proximal aorta, is the primary hemodynamic determinant of obesity-associated higher left ventricular (LV) mass in adolescents. Aortic pulsatile hemodynamics were measured noninvasively in 60 healthy adolescents (age 14-19 years; 42% male; 50% black) by sequential recordings of pulse waveforms via tonometry, brachial blood pressure, and pulsed Doppler and diameter of the LV outflow tract using 2-dimensional echocardiography. Adolescents who were overweight/obese (n=23; age 16.0±0.3 years; body mass index ≥85th percentile) had higher LV mass index, brachial and carotid systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure, normalized Zc and Pf compared with adolescents with healthy weight (n=37; 16.7±0.3 years; body mass index <85th percentile, all P<0.01). In contrast, there was no difference in mean or diastolic blood pressure, carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity, carotid augmentation index, or aortic backward wave amplitude (all P>0.05). Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis that included age, sex, race, normalized Zc, and brachial systolic blood pressure revealed that body mass index (B±SE; 0.49±0.20, P=0.02, R2=0.26), aortic Pf (0.22±0.07; P<0.02, R2 change=0.11), and cardiac output (2.82±1.02, P<0.01; R2 change=0.08) were significant correlates of LV mass index (total R2=0.44, P<0.01). These findings suggest that higher aortic Pf is a major hemodynamic determinant of increased LV mass in adolescents with elevated adiposity. Improper matching between aortic diameter and pulsatile flow during early systole potentially contributes to the early development of LV hypertrophy in childhood obesity.

This paper deals with the conceptualisation of environmental capital (KN) as an explicit argument in frameworks that exposit economic growth and performance. The omission of KN represents a major flaw in macroeconomic policy analysis because the recognition of KN affects the determination of productive capacity. Empirical illustrations are offered with reference to Australia, Korea and the USA. In the case of the Australian economy, policy decisions are possibly being evaluated on income domains that exceed the productive capacity dictated by KN.

Academic staff perspectives on operating beyond industrial actions for sustainable quality assurance in public universities in Kenya 学术人员对肯尼亚公立大学可持续质量保证超越工业行动的看法

Industrial actions represent the climax of unresolved conflicts between employers and employees, and have devastating implications on quality assurance in higher education. Management of strikes in public universities in Kenya has been based on a conventional top-down approach which further undermines the greatly needed quality of human and social capital that is responsible for implementing the university mandate towards sustainable development. Results of this study show that the main causes of industrial actions are poor remuneration and offending disparities within and between employee grades in university and other civil service offices – qualifications and the ability to perform, notwithstanding. This calls for radical rationalisation and restructuring of remunerations and staff placement in the entire civil service, based on a combination of earned qualification and competence for prescribed tasks. Overall, a synergistic and people-centred motivational management system stands out as being a critical basis for strike prevention and enhanced quality assurance.
