Investigation of cyto-toxicity of an innovative BIOfactor MTA product in different human cells: a pilot study 一种创新型生物因子MTA产品在不同人类细胞中的细胞毒性研究:一项初步研究

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the cyto-toxicity of Biodentine, Angelus MTA, BIOfactor MTA on 3T3L-1 fibroblast, and Saos-2 osteosarcoma cell lines with different dilution of all products. Material and methods: 3T3-1 fibroblast was applied to stimulate pulp cells in cell viability test. In order to gene rate an osteoblastic cell-like model, only Saos-2 cells were used. MTT test was utilized to measure cell cytotoxicity in different dilution of all MTA products. SPSS package program was applied to perform Kruskal-Wallis, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA tests. Results: According to results, while Biodentine, Angelus MTA and BIOfactor MTA showed cyto-toxic effects in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 dilutions, they were not cyto-toxic in 1 : 4 and 1 : 8 dilutions. Conclusions: MTA products have similar cyto-toxicity. BIOfactor MTA has a cyto-toxic effect as other similar products.

Effectiveness of four home oral care productsfor primary enamel re-mineralization with earlycarious lesion: an in-vitro study 四种家用口腔护理产品对早期龋病初级牙釉质再矿化的有效性:一项体外研究

Introduction: Management of dental caries during early stages is considered a clinical problem in young children. Objectives: The current in-vitro study assessed the influence of four home oral care products on re-mineraliza-tion of early caries lesions using enamel micro-hardness (EMH) test and morphological changes with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Material and methods: Sixty primary canine teeth were selected and randomly divided into 5 groups ( n = 12 in each group). Samples were de-mineralized, and toothpaste slurries were prepared to treat de-mineralized enamel with a pH-cycling model. The groups were divided as follows: Group 1. Control (no intervention); Group 2. Fluo ridated toothpaste; Group 3. Tooth mousse containing casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP); Group 4. Toothpaste containing bio-active glass and fluoride; Group 5. Tooth cream containing nano-hydroxyapatite, fluoride, and xylitol. EMH was evaluated in fifty specimens (each group, n = 10) at three times: before and after de-mineralization, and after 28 days of pH-cycling and treatment. Two samples from each group were observed with SEM. Data were analyzed with multiple-sample repeated measures ANOVA and Tukey’s HSD post-hoc tests ( p < 0.05). Results: There was a significant difference in EMH between mean baseline values and de-mineralized enamel ( p < 0.001). Re-mineralization significantly increased EMH in all treatment groups ( p < 0.001). In group 5, the percent of EMH recovery was significantly greater than in other groups ( p < 0.001). There were significant differences among the other three treatment groups (all p < 0.001). SEM images showed minerals deposited on the dissolved prismatic enamel in all groups. Conclusions: The nano-hydroxyapatite-based tooth cream was the most effective home oral care product for re-mineralization of primary tooth enamel.

Introduction: Autogenous non-vascularized bone graft (NVBG) is the gold standard for treating defects smaller than 6 cm. In the maxillofacial region, NVBG is useful to treat periodontal defects, congenital defects, ridge atrophy, sinus augmentation, etc. The addition of autogenous platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) was reported to improve clinical outcomes. However, no high-quality evidence was ever made regarding this treatment combination. Objectives: To assess the evidence of adding PRF to autogenous NVBG in the mandibular and maxillary regions. Material and methods: Literature searches were conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, ProQuest, Scopus, EBSCO-host, and Science Direct to identify randomized controlled trials comparing PRF combined with autogenous NVBG and autogenous NVBG alone. The main outcomes were quantitative bone regeneration measured as height, length, volume, percentage, or other possible quantitative outcomes. Results: Five studies were included in this systematic review comparing PRF and autogenous NVBG to ANVBG alone, with a total of 130 patients with ridge resorption, periodontitis with furcation involvement, or alveolar cleft. Measurements of outcomes were displayed as gained width, vertical bone changes, and volumetric changes. Two studies presented significant differences in the tested group. Conclusions: PRF may improve bone regeneration in combination with autogenous NVBG. Future studies need to investigate with a larger population, size of defects, and better outcome measurements.
