This study aims to explain how the contestation of cultural views that occurred at the 1991 Indonesian Cultural Congress. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach and cultural analysis techniques in the text. The text will also be analyzed with the sociological theory of culture according to Raymond Williams to see the process of production and reproduction of culture in the text. The researcher used eleven texts from a total of eighty-nine texts. This study concludes that the contestation of views can be seen based on three characteristics, namely related to the discourse of national development, the modernization of Indonesian culture, and the role of culture in the sector of community life. The relationship between the congress and national cultural politics was shown by the existence of ideas that supported the New Order cultural discourse and criticized it. The 1991 Indonesian Cultural Congress legitimized the national cultural politics of the New Order based on the role of the Directorate of Culture and TMII, the interpretation of undeveloped social formations of society, and the mode of production with a capitalist system. As a tradition that has been carried out in every history of cultural development, congress has always reproduced the values of cultural democratization. In supporting the national cultural politics of the New Order, several speakers use the term development, maintenance and fostering of a culture that is distinctive with dominant cultural discourses. Meanwhile, those who criticized him highlighted the reality of people's cultural life with the discourse of national development.

This paper aims to describe the 212 movement as a phenomenon of Islamic populism based on socio-religious movements followed by various Islamic organizations and their contradictions with other Islamic organizations. The results showed that the 212 movement phenomenon was followed by various religious groups, especially Islam, participation was based on various forms of motivation, demands, principles and organizational ideology. Pros and cons tend to be based on interpretations of religious teachings as well as ideology and organizational principles. This paper uses a qualitative research method by paying attention to the depth of information and exploring the meaning behind a symptom. The results of the research are then analyzed using the concept of mass mobilization and Islamic populism in the study of social movements that lead to the populist movement. The research findings also show that there is a relationship between social movements and Islamic populism as evidenced by the finding of chains of equivalens and empty signifiers which have implications for the formation of political frontier in the Islamic populism movement 212.

Leuit is a grain bin and has a function to store the community’s rice grains of Suka Puyuh Village. This research aims to describe the preservation effort of Leuit in Suka Puyuh Village. Leuit has been preserved through family trait, Leuit reactivation program, and exploiting ruwat lembur tradition as the mechanism. The villagers’ attempts to preserve the Leuit intrigued the researcher to conduct further research concerning the existence of the Leuit in Suka Puyuh Village. This research is an ethnographic research along with employing a descriptive method and qualitative approach. Further, the technique of data collection uses observation methods and depth interviews. The obtained data are analyzed using Wilbert E. Moore’s Social Change theory. The results of this study indicate that Leuit in Kampung Suka Puyu’s community life has undergone a shift because of the change of social structure. Development of the agricultural system from simple to a more advanced and varied level has an impact on the shift of farming system to gardening system.

Online games have been very popular nowadays, more than games played by children and teenagers 30 years ago. This study aims to explore technological developments that people are interested in, namely the phenomenon of the emergence of the online game Mobile Legend. Mobile Legend has succeeded in making Indonesians interested because of its avatar, message feature, and buying and selling of online characters in one application. The evolution of online games from PC to Smartphone makes it easier for gamers to play games anywhere and anytime. Not infrequently, they can spend up to 6 hours a day looking for internet network access. Researchers use determinism theory to answer this phenomenon. The method in this study uses a qualitative type with a virtual ethnographic method. In addition, this research collects data on using virtual tracing to record and documenting virtual activities, and interviews with seven informants of Mobile Legends' players. This research shows that when a person plays games, he can become more apathetic and minimize interaction and communication with the social environment around him. Technology like Mobile Legend has eroded the sociocultural side and communication sensitivity of an individual in society. All users also become more active and narcissistic in creating multiple identities that exist in the virtual world. So this research shows that online games in creating virtual reality have both positive and negative impacts on the players.

The family is the primary socialization agent that has the function to shape the character of children. The presence of both parents in a family is able to provide great opportunities for children to obtain their rights including children who live in migrant workers' families. The thing that caught the attention of the researchers was the process of parenting especially socialization regarding independence carried out by the caregivers, as an effort to form the character of an independent child and fulfillment of children's rights and minimize the label given to children in the family of migrant workers. This study uses qualitative methods. The data collection in this study used in-depth interviews, the determination of the informants in this study used snowball random selection of informants and rolled from one informant to another informant without limitation on the number, in the study there were 7 informants who were caregivers of the children of migrant workers' families, the age of the children cared for is 8-18 years. The theories used in this study are the theory of Symbolic Interactionism from Herbert Blumer and Theory of Socialization Patterns from Elizabeth B. Hurlock. The results obtained from this study are that foster parents have meaning about independence derived from parents, experience and the surrounding environment. The meaning that is owned by foster parents is then disseminated to the children of migrant workers' families. The meaning of independence inherent in foster parents has an impact on the pattern of socialization that is applied to migrant workers' children. Independence is interpreted as disciplinary learning using authoritarian socialization patterns, independence which is interpreted as encouraging children to apply democratic socialization patterns and independence which is interpreted as self-habituation for children using permissive socialization patterns.

The presence of the internet today makes it easy for users to carry out communication activities without limitation of distance and time. Even instant messaging such as WhatsApp, which has the primary function as a medium for communication, can be a mediator for self-existence and cannot be separated from its users to share daily activities through the WhatsApp Status feature. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Status feature on Instant Messaging WhatsApp as a mediator to show self-existence without distance and time limits based on media ecology theory. The method in this study is a qualitative method with purposive data collection techniques. Researchers also conducted interviews with seven informants who were students and workers. This study's results indicate that the presence of this feature affects various actions, perceptions, and communication experiences in society. Ecological media has the perspective that electronic media has radically changed society. In essence, society is very dependent on technology that uses media, and that the social order of a society is based on its ability to deal with these technologies. Media, in general, act directly to form and organize culture. Apart from that, ecological media also has assumptions about how technology affects society, include the distinction between hot and cold media.
