Diversity Gain Analysis of Underwater Vertical MIMO VLC Links in the Presence of Turbulence 湍流存在下水下垂直MIMO VLC链路分集增益分析

To satisfy the demands of high data rate underwater applications such as image and real-time video transmission, underwater visible light communication (UVLC) has emerged as an alternative to acoustic signaling. One of the major impairments in UVLC systems is turbulence-induced fading as a result of temporal variations in temperature and salinity. Furthermore, unlike the horizontal links modeled with fixed turbulence strength, vertical links experience varying turbulence strength based on the depth-dependent temperature and salinity profiles. In this paper, we consider a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) UVLC link over a vertical turbulence channel which is modeled as the concatenation of multiple non-mixing layers. Under the assumption of cascaded log-normal channel model, we derive the outage probability of vertical MIMO UVLC links and quantify the diversity gain in terms of the number of transmitter/receivers.

Resource Allocation for Downlink OFDMA in Underwater Visible Light Communications 水下可见光通信下行OFDMA的资源分配

As a wireless connectivity solution with low latency and high capacity, visible light communication (VLC) is particularly attractive for high-speed underwater applications such as image or real-time video transmission. In this paper, we consider the downlink of an underwater sensor network (USN) where the communication between the central command unit and sensor nodes takes place through VLC. The system builds upon DC-biased-optical orthogonal frequency division multiple access (DCO-OFDMA) where subsets of subcarriers are assigned to different nodes. We propose a joint subcarrier allocation and bit loading algorithm in an effort to achieve identical data rate for each node in the USN while satisfying a targeted bit error rate (BER). We further present Monte Carlo simulation results to demonstrate the performance of the proposed adaptive algorithm.

Reduced Redundancy Indexing for Beam-Time Delay CSI Compression in 5G FDD Massive MIMO Systems 5G FDD大规模MIMO系统中减少冗余索引的波束时间延迟CSI压缩

The study of Channel State Information (CSI) schemes for FDD Massive MIMO is a hot topic in recent years due to the imperative need to tackle the constraints in terms of CSI uplink feedback overhead. An alternative for having a CSI reduced representation is to exploit sparsity, for example, by extracting the respective correlations in space and frequency domain, which makes it possible to transmit a selected number of taps from a beam-time delay channel representation. In this article, our goal is to study the possibility of exploiting the fact that locations of such taps change relatively slow for low speed User Equipments (UE). In that aspect, one of the issues related is the bit overhead from the indexing mechanism which is needed in order to locate such taps on the CSI beam-time delay grid for channel reconstruction in the Base Station (BS). Our main contribution in this article is to provide a method for reduced redundancy indexing which provides adaptive CSI report payload by reducing unnecessary overhead from indexing location of repeated taps from previous CSI reports. In order to verify its robustness, we study in our analysis the functioning of this technique in a certain range of velocities and different CSI compression configurations.

Challenges and Opportunities using MultiChain for Real Estate 房地产多链的挑战与机遇

The real estate market involves multiple untrusted actors with contrasting objectives. We propose REchain, a blockchain-based platform for real estate, which provides benefits to all actors in terms of transparency, trust, immutability, and traceability. REchain architecture handles real estate data through well-defined workflows that leverage the MultiChain platform. REchain changes the real estate market enabling direct transactions without intermediaries, and providing new mechanisms for negotiating the purchase conditions. This paper refutes the misleading idea of using blockchains for solving generic problems as blockchain platforms have peculiar features that make them suitable for specific applications. REchain circumvents the intrinsic limits of smart filters by introducing off-chain procedures. REchain is platform-agnostic, but many aspects of the actual implementation of the smart logic depend on the underlying blockchain platform. The experimental results are promising and motivate us to explore the direction of automatic behaviour in real estate further.

Avalanche blockchain protocol for distributed computing security 雪崩区块链协议用于分布式计算安全

Platforms for distributed computing are able to solve complex problems such as radio telescope signal analysis or protein design. However, the distributed computing systems are also vulnerable to attacks, especially considering the fact that some distributed projects reward their participants, so cybercriminals have incentive to sabotage the project for their own gain. The article considers question of distributed computing security. We propose to use metastable blockchain protocol to ensure that integrity of data is preserved. We also discuss advantages of metastable blockchain protocol over regular one for the task of mass distributed computing. Prototype distributed data processing program was designed for the task of calculating checksums. The program was tested in a controlled virtual machine environment with different checksum algorithms and different number of computing units.

Power Efficient Beam-Forming Algorithm for Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Millimeter-Wave Communications 超可靠低延迟毫米波通信的高效波束形成算法

Achieving ultra low-latency and ultra-high reliable communications at millimeter-waves (mmWaves) is challenging due to the sensitivity of this frequency band to blockage. Different space diversity schemes based on either equal gain or beam-tracking algorithms, are proposed to cope with the significant propagation losses introduced by the blockage at mmWaves. However, equal gain algorithms suffer from the low throughput as they allocate considerable gain to the non-optimal links. On the other hand, beam-tracking algorithms suffer from the link outage as the beam-forming is redone after dropping a large amount of data. In this study we propose a new algorithm based on the prior collection of data to eliminate power consuming beam-tracking techniques while minimum diversity level ensures high received power, ultra-reliability, and low latency.

GreenBroker: Optimal Electric Vehicle Park-and-Charge Control via Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Communication GreenBroker:基于车辆与基础设施通信的最佳电动汽车停车与充电控制

The increasing market share of electric vehicles (EVs) makes charging facilities indispensable infrastructure for integrating EVs into the future smart grid. The promising facility called park-and-charge station was recently proposed. Existing studies on park-and-charge station mainly focus on managing the charging distribution of onsite EVs, ignoring the impacts of offsite EVs in the region. In this paper, we fill this gap by leveraging the emerging vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication technique to manage the charging schedule of both onsite and offsite EVs. Specifically, we design a park-and-charge management system, GreenBroker, which allows park-and-charge stations to control the arriving rate by sending real-time prices to EVs via V2I communications, and to control the charging rate via real-time electricity state. We develop a two-timescale stochastic optimization model, maximizing the revenue of park-and-charge stations while ensuring a finite charging delay of EV users. We derive the worst-case charging delay of EVs and show that it provides an [O(1/V), O(V)] tradeoff between the revenue of charging stations and the worst-case delay of EV users. We also demonstrate the efficacy of GreenBroker via trace-data simulation.

Specifically, we design a park-and-charge management system, GreenBroker, which allows park-and-charge stations to control the arriving rate by sending real-time prices to EVs via V2I communications, and to control the charging rate via real-time electricity state. We develop a two-timescale stochastic optimization model, maximizing the revenue of park-and-charge stations while ensuring a finite charging delay of EV users. We derive the worst-case charging delay of EVs and show that it provides an [O(1/V), O(V)] tradeoff between the revenue of charging stations and the worst-case delay of EV users. This paper discusses an implantable, low power, wireless, neural signal transmitter, to restore limb mobility in individuals with spinal cord injuries, as part of a Brain Computer Interface (BCI) system. Specifically, this paper describes a Brain Computer Interface (BCI) system using passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) transmitters operating in the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band. This system uses backscatter modulation as its power transfer mechanism. Such low power UHF passive RFID radio technology has shown to have great potential to support invasive BCI applications. The performance of UHF passive RFID technology using a novel MAC protocol in an invasive BCI application is presented. The performance is analyzed using the novel MAC protocol and the following properties namely signal to noise ratio (SNR), received signal strength (RSS) and collision count were calculated and compared with the slotted Aloha protocol as a function of implant depth.

This work focuses on the analysis of the achievable performance of coded FSK transmitted over memoryless Rayleigh channel with AWGN and probabilistic additive white Gaussian interference.The soft-output maximum-likelihood (ML) decoder for this channel is derived. It is implemented in the form of a simulation model and is used for assessing performance gap for goodness-of-fit criteria decoders known for their good performance in channels with strong interference.

This paper provides an approach to the detection of information security breaches in automated process control systems (APCS), which consists in forecasting multivariate time series formed from the values of the operating parameters of the end system devices. Using an experimental model of water treatment, a comparison was made of the forecasting results for the parameters characterizing the operation of the entire model, and for the parameters characterizing the flow of individual subprocesses implemented by the model. For forecasting, GRU-neural network training was performed.
