Optical paths supporting quorums for efficient communication 支持仲裁的光路,用于高效通信

In this paper we propose a topology that is advantageous to distributed algorithms while still supporting arbitrary communication. Grouping nodes into sets called quorums is a step in some distributed algorithms. We establish cycles in a network to support cyclic quorums. All nodes in a quorum can then be contacted by simply doing a broadcast on one cycle. In cyclic quorums all possible node pairs appear in at least one quorum. Allowing them to communicate by transmitting on the correct cycle.

Phase regeneration of phase modulated signals in mode multiplexed system using a silicon waveguide 用硅波导实现模式复用系统中相位调制信号的相位再生

The phase regeneration for the mode-division multiplexing (MDM) differential phase shift keying (DPSK) signals in a single multimode silicon waveguide, is proposed and successfully demonstrated in the simulation. The regeneration is based on the mode-selective phase sensitive amplification (PSA). When the pumps and the signal are carried on the same mode, the signal will be phase-regenerated because of the strong phase sensitive interaction. Otherwise, the weak phase sensitive interaction will be achieved due to the phase mismatch. Simulation results show an obvious phase squeezing for the degraded two-mode division multiplexing DPSK signals.

For large scale multi-domain elastic optical networks, we propose a combination of distributed and centralized control architecture (DC-CA) based on stateful hierarchical PCE. Node protection method with content-connectivity against disaster in disaster recovery center networks 容灾中心网络中具有内容连通性的节点容灾保护方法

With the growth of cloud computing and other high-bitrate disaster recovery center (DRC) support service, DRC networks play an important role in the future networks. But the nature or man-made disaster is the main threaten of survivability. In this paper, we focus on the protection of DRC node based on contentconnectivity against disaster in disaster recovery center networks. An integer linear programming (ILP) model is proposed for that. Simulation results shows that, the proposed method has better performance to deal with node failure with less backup spectrum resources.

A relocation-based heuristic for restoring optical cloud services 基于重新定位的光云服务恢复启发式算法

Optical clouds allow for an integrated management of optical transport and cloud resources (e.g., storage and computing resources running on datacenters). In this paradigm the concept of service relocation (i.e., the ability to re-allocate to a different datacenter node an already provisioned cloud service) offers a new way to restore the network upon failure. This paper presents a heuristic (called H_RELOCATION) based on the service relocation concept to be used for the dynamic restoration of optical cloud services. Upon the occurrence of a network failure, H_RELOCATION solves the routing and resource (i.e., transport plus cloud) allocation problem for each disrupted cloud service allowing, if necessary, to relocate some cloud services to different datacenter nodes. The proposed strategy is benchmarked against two optimal restoration strategies based on Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulations, the first one without and the second one with the ability to use the service relocation idea. Simulation results show that H_RELOCATION offers performance (i.e., blocking probability, restorability levels and number of required relocations) very close to the optimum, offering on the other hand, a significant reduction in the processing time required for each successfully restored cloud service.

Surface plasmon polariton based photonic integrated devices 基于表面等离子体激元的光子集成器件

This paper reports the research on surface plasmon polariton (SPP) based photonic integrated devices. We realized SPP waveguides with very low transmission loss of 0.67dB/mm. By developing a kind of hybrid coupler structure consisted by a SPP waveguide and a dielectric waveguide, a high performance TM/TE polarization splitter was realized with pure TM mode output, and an integrated sensor was demonstrated with rather high sensitivity and the ability for ultra-thin layer sensing.

A service-based schedule scheme in flexi-grid optical network 柔性网格光网络中一种基于业务的调度方案

Currently, service characteristic is rarely considered in service processing for the optical network. In this paper, we introduce a novel service-basedscheme which will buffer and schedule services to optimize the blocking performance of flexi-grid optical network based on Software Defined Network (SDN). This scheme gives sufficient consideration to the diversity of services in SDN network. Besides, new algorithms of service scheduling and adjustment are proposed to improve the network performance. Numerical simulation results demonstrate a lower blocking probability and verify the superiority to the conventional scheme.

Actively mode-locked fiber laser with pulse intensity feed-forward 脉冲强度前馈主动锁模光纤激光器

We report a novel actively mode-locked fiber laser with a pulse intensity feed-forward path. In the novel scheme, the optical pulse is firstly converted to electrical signal, and then fed forward to a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator, where the optical pulse is modulated by the intensity profile of itself. The laser is modulated by the 10-GHz sinusoidal signal, but by setting the sign of the feed-forward signal, the laser can work at totally different mode-locking regimes (10-GHz mode locking or fundamentally mode locking). So the feed-forward path in the cavity can be used for different functions, i.e., supermode noise suppression in 10-GHz mode locking and saturable absorption in fundamental mode-locking regime. Due to the simple synchronization to external clock and stable operation, many applications would benefit from the novel laser.

We propose a global dynamic bandwidth optimization algorithm for software defined optical access and aggregation networks, which can support unified optimizations and efficient scheduling by allocating bandwidth resources from a global network view in real-time. The performance benefits of the proposed algorithm in terms of resource utilization rate, average delay and delay of a single mobile user are verified through network simulation.

Direct-detection all-optical OFDM superchannel for long-reach PON 用于远距离PON的直接检测全光OFDM超级信道

Orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising candidate for the future high-speed optical access networks. As the OFDM signal is electronically generated and demodulated by fast Fourier transform (FFT) in the digital domain via electronic digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters (DAC/ADC) respectively, the OFDM signal bandwidth is limited by the sampling rate of the DAC/ADC. In this work, we present the feasibility of using all-optical OFDM for the future high-speed PON. All-optical OFDM is another class of optical multiple carrier transmission that relies on all-optically generated or demodulated orthogonal subcarriers. Hence, high data rate can be easily achieved. A 200 Gb/s OFDMA-LR-PON using all-optical OFDM super-channel (SC) is demonstrated. Apart from the optical wired transmission, w-band (100-GHz) millimeter-wave (MMW) wireless transmission is also demonstrated to support the in-building mobile broadband services.
