Research on carrier injection efficiency of SiGe-OI electro-optic modulator SiGe-OI电光调制器载流子注入效率研究

Based on SiGe-OI (Silicon Germanium on Insulator) material, SiGe-OI electro-optic modulator is established, and PIN electrical modulation structure has been researched. The carrier injection concentration of electro-optical modulator with structure parameters, including the doping concentration of active region, the width of active region, the width between active region and waveguide, Ge content and the other parameters are analyzed, and the device structure parameters are optimized. Compared with SOI (Silicon on Insulator) electro-optic modulator injection concentration, SiGe-OI electro-optic modulator has higher carrier injection efficiency at the same modulation conditions. Accordingly, modulation voltage and modulation power can be effectively reduced.

Perpendicular multi-layer architecture among multi-domain software defined optical networks 多域软件定义光网络的垂直多层结构

A perpendicular multi-layer (PML) architecture with multiple controllers and a dynamic orchestra plane (DOP) for multi-domain software defined optical networks is proposed in this paper. Cross-domain services with on-demand bandwidth can be deployed via unified interfaces provided by DOP. Practical capture of signal processing and emulation results are presented.

The functional architecture of integrated sensing network 集成传感网络的功能体系结构

With the development of the Internet of Things, the concept of Integrated Sensing Network (ISN) and its functional architecture are proposed. The core functions of the sensing stratum, the transport stratum, the service stratum and the management platform as well as a data flow model for ISN are discussed. The reference architecture and the model provide a common basis for the research and development for the purpose of ISN.

Impacts of link-cost and routing methods on overlay network performances for dynamic traffic grooming 动态流量疏导中链路开销和路由方式对覆盖网络性能的影响

Overlay IP/MPLS over WDM network is widely viewed as the most promising solution for supporting the next-generation optical Internet. The main challenge in such kind of networks typically comes from the limited information exchanges between its two layers. Though various algorithms and schemes have been proposed for traffic grooming in such overlay networks, to the best of our knowledge, there exists no systematic study for evaluating the impacts of limited information exchanges on network performance. This paper studies dynamic traffic grooming problem in overlay IP/MPLS over WDM networks. Specifically, we evaluate the impacts of the accuracy of WDM-layer link cost information and WDM-layer routing methods on the performance of overlay networks. Extensive simulation results show that i) having an appropriate link cost assignment strategy is of critical importance in deciding network performance; ii) the existence of inaccurate link cost information in overlay networks does significantly affect network performance, even when the link cost assignment strategy is carefully designed to enhance the tolerance to such inaccuracy; and iii) when subject to inaccurate link-state information, fixed and dynamic routing methods on WDM layer may not lead to significant differences in network performance.

Experimental evaluation of software defined passive optical network with network coding 基于网络编码的软件定义无源光网络的实验评价

Facing with the huge P2P traffic challenge, network coding shows great advantages in improving system efficiency. This paper proposed a solution to integrate network coding into passive optical networks and compatible with the existing Ethernet passive optical network named NC-PON. To increase more efficiency, a software defined passive optical networks with network coding (SDNC-PON), which combines the software defined technology and network coding, was proposed to optimize the P2P traffic under different OLTs. The core idea of SDNC-PON is to change the owner-member relationship between OLTs and ONUs flexibly to achieve the maximum traffic benefit. The results of experimental platform and the simulations indicated that the proposed architecture is efficient and with network flexibility.

Degree distribution mapping method of parity check matrix in LDPC based FSO communication through atmospheric turbulence channel 基于LDPC的大气湍流信道FSO通信奇偶校验矩阵度分布映射方法

A degree distribution mapping method of parity check matrix in irregular QC-LDPC based FSO communication is proposed. Before channel coding, use the mapping method to select the appropriate distribution of the parity check matrix corresponding to atmospheric channel estimation feedback. BER performance of the optimal distribution of the parity check matrix in different turbulence intensity has been made. Compared to old coding schemes without optimizing degree distribution, the new one have greatly improved the transmission performance.

Demonstration of a low-cost cascade tunable semiconductor DFB laser 低成本级联可调谐半导体DFB激光器的演示

A low-cost cascade tunable semiconductor distributed feedback (DFB) laser is proposed based on the reconstruction equivalent chirp (REC) technique and experimentally demonstrated for the first time. It covers 9nm continuous tuning range by changing the temperature. The side mode suppression ratios are above 42dB over the tuning range. The current and temperature coefficients of wavelength tuning are 0.0124nm/mA and 0.0875nm/°C, respectively. The grating is fabricated by holographic exposure and conventional lithography, so the cost is very low. The results indicate that REC technique is promising to fabricate tunable DFB lasers which can meet the requirement of access networks. The tuning range can also be extended by using more sections.

We demonstrate a silicon 4×4 non-blocking Benes switch fabric consisting of three stages of tunable Mach-Zehnder interferometers. Measurements show that the insertion loss is around 10 dB and the crosstalk is below -10 dB over a 40 nm wide wavelength range.

We will review our recent progress in the fabrication of integrated nanophotonic devices and their applications in on-chip optical signal transmission and processing with advanced modulation formats. We will talk about both theoretical and experimental works on chip-scale optical signal transmission for photonic interconnections and various on-chip photonic signal processing functions (wavelength conversion, multiplexing/demultiplexing, data exchange, computing, coding/decoding).

Photonic switching of RF signals based on optical single sideband wavelength conversion in a semiconductor optical amplifier 半导体光放大器中基于光单边带波长转换的射频信号的光子开关

Photonic switching of RF signals based on optical single sideband (OSSB) wavelength conversion using a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) for radio-over-fiber applications is proposed and demonstrated. The scheme realizes OSSB signal generation simultaneously with the photonic microwave switching based on self-phase modulation (SPM), cross-gain modulation (XGM) and four-wave mixing (FWM) effects in the SOA. Photonic switching of a 50-Mbaud 16 QAM signal centered at 20 GHz is experimentally realized, and an OSSB modulated signal with a sideband suppression ratio of 22.47 dB is generated.
