Pilot-based bind phase estimation method for coherent optical OFDM 基于导频的相干光OFDM绑定相位估计方法

In this paper, a pilot-based blind (PBB) phase estimation method for coherent optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) is proposed. Instead of inserting the pilot-subcarriers that are loaded with the already known information in the OFDM signal, the unknown and specially designed signal is used to replace the signal on the pilot subcarriers to decrease the waste of spectrum and also demonstrated well performance for the phase noise compensation. Both the proposed PBB and conventional pilot-aided (PA) estimation methods are demonstrated in a CO-OFDM transmission experiment, which is modulated by 4 quadrature amplitude modulation (4-QAM) format and transmitted over 1760-km standard single-mode fiber (SSMF). The experimental results show that the proposed PBB method still achieves the similar performance to that of the conventional PA method.

Analysis of OSNR monitoring in optical fiber communication system 光纤通信系统OSNR监测分析

The transmission data rates of the next generation intelligent optical networks are high, and the applications of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) enable the traditional out-band optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) monitoring techniques aren't suitable. In this paper, three methods of out-band and in-band OSNR monitoring in optical fiber communication system are studied and compared, which are mainly based on traditional out-band interpolation, in-band on-off signal, and in-band polarization diversity approaches. The traditional out-band interpolation is not very accurate for the dynamic DWDM networks. The on-off signal method is simple and accurate but it will interrupt the service and not suitable for the real time monitoring. The polarization diversity method is some complicated but it can be applied for real time in-band OSNR monitoring in next generation optical networks.

Dynamic virtual network embedding algorithm based on multi-path virtual concatenation in elastic optical network 弹性光网络中基于多径虚拟拼接的动态虚拟网络嵌入算法

This paper focuses on the concept of multi-path virtual concatenation as a key enabling technology to support the requirements of spectrum bandwidth of link mapping in the process of virtual network embedding (VNE). A dynamic VNE_MP algorithm for distributed data centers inter-connecting is proposed. Based on the multi-path virtual concatenation mechanisms, a virtual link is split into multiple smaller sub-streams and carried on multiple paths. The object for this algorithm is to maximize the spectrum utilization and request accept ratio under the constraint of different delay constraint between splitting paths.

Reconfigurable FEC codes for software-defined optical transceivers 软件定义光收发器的可重构FEC代码

Flexible Optical Networks can optimize the network resources by offering increased spectral utilization. However, these networks require the use of novel software-defined Optical Transceivers that can adapt their features to the channel's requirements. This paper presents a novel optical transceiver architecture using a reconfigurable FEC coding scheme for flexible optical networks. The proposed approach can dynamically support different versions of FEC codes (with different overheads, code lengths, and LLR-widths) based on the network's Quality-of-Service requirements, whereas it can also be applied for the dynamic reconfiguration of the DSP units and the realization of dynamic coded-modulation schemes. The proposed approach has been implemented into an FPGA platform. The performance evaluation shows that the reconfiguration time is always less than 12 ms, which means that the proposed scheme could be utilized in many optical networks, where the reconfiguration time (e.g. for the optical switches or the WSS) is in the order of a few ms.

Quadrature squeezing of phase modulated signals 相位调制信号的正交压缩

We present two effective methods to perform quadrature squeezing and their experimental demonstrations performed on phase modulated signals. The first method, which is based on phase sensitive amplification, is used for de-multiplexing the two orthogonal phase components of QPSK signals. The second method, which is a hybrid method combining optical parametric processes and amplitude/phase modulation, is used for simultaneous phase regeneration of two coherent WDM BPSK signals.

We propose a novel guard-band-shared direct detection scheme to improve the receiver spectrum efficiency. A 100-Gb/s DDO-OFDM/OQAM signal transmission has been successfully demonstrated over 80-km SSMF using a single photodiode within 50-GHz optical grid.

Network adaptability to disasters by exploiting degraded-service tolerance 通过利用降级服务容忍度对灾难的网络适应性

This paper studies optimal traffic provisioning under service heterogeneity to alleviate the dramatic decrease in network resources, a.k.a. resource crunch, caused by large-area network failures or a traffic surge. Some services are sensitive to capacity provided, while others (e.g., video streaming) can operate with reduced bandwidth (degraded service). Degraded-service-tolerant connections can be admitted and recovered with reduced service under resource crunch. Our adaptive solutions distribute capacity among competing services when some may get degraded service under resource crunch but satisfying the Service-Level Objectives (SLOs).

Performance modeling for local data service in integrated sensing network 集成传感网络中本地数据业务的性能建模

Owing to the complexity of data types and comments in Integrated Sensing Network (ISN), we adopt database for the data storage and propose a database structure for ISN, including distributed local service database and centralized management database. The multi-level multi-priority queue model is built for analysing the performance of the users accessing to local service database. The simulation results show the average time is 2.3 ms, 2.55 ms, 2.8 ms, 3 ms respectively at the arrival rate benchmark of 0.1 kHz and the proportion of each priority of 1:1:1:1. While at the same arrival rate benchmark, but the proportion is 1:4:4:1, the average response time is 2.25 ms, 3 ms, 4.5 ms, 5.5 ms. The average response time and proportion of arrival rate and throughput rate increases rapidly with the increases of the arrival rate and at a higher arrival rate the gap of each priority is larger.

Cloud service routing in WDM networks with awareness on delay and link failure probability 考虑时延和链路故障概率的WDM网络云业务路由

Cloud service based on data center (DC) has become an attractive choice for abundant applications. Generally, DCs are distributed at different nodes across a given optical network, and users access DCs through predefined routes. From the perspective of service providers, it is important to offer reliable cloud service while taking service delay and service cost into consideration. In this paper, we study the service routing problem in a given optical network to provide cloud services with high reliability, where failure probability and transmission delay of each link are considered as two coupled parameters. The objective is to minimize the total routing cost and design the access routes for the demands originated from each node. To combine together the corresponding delay and the failure probability of each link, we introduce two cost scaling factors which can be flexibly adjusted to control their relative importance (i.e., the weights). Based on mathematical approximation, a novel method is proposed to compute the failure probabilities of individual service paths. This translates our objective function into a linear expression. Then, we formulate an integer linear program (ILP) to solve the problem. The proposed cloud service routing scheme is validated by extensive numerical experiments.

Stable radio frequency transfer via optical fiber based on passive phase correction 基于无源相位校正的光纤稳定射频传输

The transfer of radio frequency (RF) signal via optical fiber is widely used in distributed antenna systems. To compensate the phase variation caused by fiber length fluctuation, passive phase correction technique is proposed with obvious advantages over the traditional active phase correction method. This paper reviews the recent developments of the stable RF transfer based on passive phase correction. The operation principles of several reported schemes are presented and the performance is evaluated and compared. Although good results have been achieved in such schemes, they can only be used for single frequency transfer. Thus, passive phase correction technique for stable transfer of wideband RF signals should be investigated in the future.
