Background: Health protection through prevention and reduction of alcohol consumption is a public health priority. Some scales have been identified to assess public alcohol policies but in English language. Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the translation and cultural adaptation of a scale to assess support for alcohol policies in young Mexican university students. Methodology: Methodological study, with the participation of 367 university students from southern Mexico. Construct validity was estimated by means of an exploratory factor analysis and the internal consistency of the questionnaire was checked to verify its reliability. Results: Internal consistency was 0.96. Construct validity was performed through exploratory factor analysis, identifying a three factors structure: harm reduction, marketing and information, and price and availability. Conclusion: The scale showed adequate reliability and validity, and can be applied in Spanish as an empirical indicator in studies concerning alcohol public policies in young university students.

Background: Technology-dependent children and adolescents are recurrently admitted to intensive care units. These admissions prompt the need for follow-up care to maintain these children’s and adolescents’ health. Objective: To identify the demographic and clinical profile of technology-dependent children and adolescents at the time of hospital discharge from a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Methodology: This is a quantitative, documentary, and retrospective study based on medical records of technology-dependent children/adolescents admitted to the PICU of a teaching hospital in southern Brazil. Results : The study observed a predominance of white male children up to one year of age coming from the pediatric emergency room, with a history of conditions originating from the perinatal period, the use of long-term medication, and the prevalence of diseases of the respiratory system and congenital malformations. Conclusion: This group represents a challenge for healthcare services. In addition to the current diagnosis, past complications can affect the prognosis. Implementing care action plans that consider the needs of children/adolescents and their families is recommended to ensure comprehensive care.

Background: Caring for people with dementia generates stress among family caregivers. One of these stressor events is ambiguous loss. Objectives: To translate, adapt, and validate the Boundary Ambiguity Scale (BAS) into European Portuguese and assess its psychometric properties. Methodology: Methodological study with a sample of 88 family caregivers of people with dementia. Internal consistency was assessed using McDonald’s omega coefficient ( ). Construct validity was assessed through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and criterion validity through the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). Results: The BAS showed excellent content validity. The EFA revealed a two-factor model, explaining 44% of variance, and a of 0.72. Family caregivers who live with people with dementia had greater ambiguous loss ( t = 2.823, p < 0.01). A statistically significant moderate positive correlation was found between the BAS and the PSS ( r s = 0.578, p < 0.01). Conclusion: The BAS has acceptable validity and internal consistency for assessing ambiguous loss.
