An automatic verification of person's identity from its voice is a part of modern telecommunication services. In order to execute a verification task, a speech signal has to be transmitted to a remote server. So, a performance of the verification system can be influenced by various distortions that can occur when transmitting a speech signal through a communication channel. This paper studies an effect of the state of art wideband (WB) speech codecs on a performance of automatic speaker verification in the context of a channel/codec mismatch between enrollment and test utterances. The speaker verification system is developed on GMM-UBM method. The results show that EVS codec provides the best performance over all the investigated scenarios in this study. Moreover, deploying G.729.1 codec in a training process of the verification system provides the best equal error rate in the fully-codec mismatched scenario. Anyhow, differences between the equal error rates reported for all of the codecs involved in this scenario are mostly nonsignificant.

Data processing in the area of intelligent transport systems requires developing important ways of communication technology with emphasis on efficiency. Vehicles change their locality and occurrence over the time, it alters the entire network topology and influences communication possibilities. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the amount of transmitted data without any loss of information value. Each element can provide a lot of data, which have mostly sensorical background. In this paper, we focus on the modelling methods and storing possibilities, process of obtaining data from the network nodes. For effective management, we develop index service layer surrounded by tablespaces, which enhances system performance in terms of the collection and transmission of data. We deal with tablespace localization in the same server or remote server solution. These environments are compared each other to declare properties, performance and limitations.

Electric drainage is used for the protection of underground devices (e.g. pipelines) against the negative effects of stray currents caused by DC electric traction. When flowing out from the underground device and returning to rails, stray currents contribute to the corrosion of this device. Using electric drainage can help to significantly eliminate these negative effects. Electric drainage provides a conductive connection between the underground device and electric traction rails, so that current does not leak into the ground, but flows through this connection. This will eliminate the negative effects of stray currents. More advanced drainage solutions include polarised drainage and regulation drainage. Currently, these devices are based on power electronics. To ensure correct and economical dimensioning, it is necessary to find out voltage and current parameters on site. This paper deals with the measurement and simulation of electrical parameters in the process of designing electric drainage.

In this paper, a 3D model recognition method based on modification of Spatial Structure Circular Descriptor (SSCD) is proposed. Firstly, the model optimization process removes all valueless points. Secondly, the SSCD descriptor to get a spatial value is used. This method uses a Spherical Grade Projection (SGP) to project points on a plane. However, in our case the SGP is not used. Our proposed method is based on extraction of spatial information, which is projected to image. To store the full spatial information of 3D model to an image spherical transformation is used. Mostly, low-polygon models have small amount of points, which are projected to sphere hence, is created empty spaces. To avoid this problem is used a convolution with gradient function. Finally, we calculate the similarities between dataset of 3D models. The algorithm has been tested on 100 different 3D models (10 models for each class). The experimental result shows that the proposed method has a positive effect on overall recognition performance and outperforms other examined methods.

Electrostatic separation of triboelectrically charged plastic particles is investigated and verified on an experimental device. After presenting the fundamentals of the process in the introductory part, attention is paid to the stucture of the device and functions of its particular elements. The last part of the paper discusses the results of experiments aimed at separation of a mixture consisting of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and thermoplastic copolyester (TPC). Measured are various parameters of the process such as deflections of individual kinds of particles in electric field, efficiency of separation and purity of particular levels to be separated.

In this paper the method of critical current field analysis in hepatic tissue is presented. The method emerges from heterogeneous electrical model of the tissue, where a powerful software package Comsol, as analysis medium, is used. The obtained results are exploitable for the analysis of probability of injury formation in sensitive tissue structures, which would enable the optimization of surgical procedures and development of more sophisticated electrosurgical devices.

The algorithms for optimal and quasi-optimal estimation of the arrival time of a Gaussian random pulse with a priori known and inaccurately known duration, which is observed against the background of white Gaussian noise, is synthesized. The comparative analysis of the Bayesian (quasi-Bayesian) and maximum likelihood (quasi-likelihood) measurers of the arrival time is performed. The results of the statistical computer simulation of estimation algorithms are presented.

In recent years the topic of Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems is widely studied. Interconnected vehicles able of information exchange can reduce traffic accident ratio significantly. To allow reliable, low latency Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication new network technologies are needed. This paper proposes hybrid network topology for V2V communication scenario to prevent network overload when transmitting safety oriented information. Properties of the proposed topology are evaluated by network simulation.

Adaptive techniques for modeling fast transients on high-voltage lines are proposed and evaluated. These techniques seem to be a powerful tool for their higher-order finite element analysis, bringing considerable savings both in memory and time of computation. A typical example is presented showing the advantage of this approach.

Control of electrical power systems with attached units of accumulation represents a relatively complex problem, both in terms of technical equipment and in terms of the measurement and the control algorithms. In order to control system dynamically from the viewpoint of energy flows, so particularly with regard to increasing quality of electrical energy, all processes must be processed with relatively high frequency of sampling. The paper describes the elements of electrical energy accumulation control system, which was implemented in the Technology Centre of VřB - Technical University of Ostrava. This system uses originally developed analog measuring logger, which performs data collection from the entire system, processes the data and generates the desired quantity of them for semiconductor converters control. These converters perform control of energy flows throughout the accumulation system.
