The paper describes a new system for remote measurement experiment. This set of cooperating applications is designed in LabVIEW environment and uses Data Socket and Remote Panel technology. The system allows to measure with real instruments on experimental workplaces via Internet. Its specialty is a modular structure, when a pair of modules called GO and DO module is needed for remote operation. The GO module distributes measured data over the network. The workplace is managed by a DO module. The designer of a new workplace needs only to develop the application of DO module itself. Hence our modular system simplifies and unifies design of remote accessed workplaces with higher level of software security. The attention is focused on designed superior GO module. There is also described the application DO module which was created to testify the functionality of the system.

The article deals with the design of a liquid automated cooling/heating system which is designed as the support system that enables the testing of power semiconductor converters in the various temperature regimes. The basic function of the system is to maintain of the temperature of the cooling/heating medium in the required ranges. The article consists of the proposal of hydraulic circuit, the proposal of power electronics, the proposal of motion control and HMI interface. In the conclusion there are mentioned the results of realized measurements on the physical device and they are confronted with theoretical assumptions.

This paper presents a time-dependent simulation of three-phase squirrel cage asynchronous motor using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Simulation was made for constant rotational velocity adjusted to the nominal one of the tested motor. The course of stator currents and motor torque is shown and their values are compared to their catalogue ones and values obtained from motor measurements. As seen, the simulation results match the catalogue values or measured results rather well.

The article deals with non-destructive evaluation of conductive austenitic stainless steel by eddy current and ultrasonic testing. ECA (Eddy Current Array) and TOFD (Time of Flight Diffraction) methods are used for this purpose. Real fatigue and stress-corrosion cracks are under inspection. Experimental results are presented and discussed in the paper.

Transmission system operators deal with situations when their system does not comply with N-1 criterion on daily basis. Remedial actions are any actions which the transmission system operator implements in due time to avert a critical situation. During the year some transmission elements reach the Maximum Permanent Current Loading, a situation which is unacceptable for the safety and reliable operation of the system. After exhausting of all non-cost possible actions it is necessary to consider the measures of market-technical kind, so called redispatch. Anticipated legislative changes, whether at European, national or internal level will extend system operator's possibilities of facing and managing a critical situation.

The paper deals with conventional control of a single-leg voltage source inverter loaded by a single-phase induction motor and its improvement by current control loop applied at reduced speed operation. Current control brings a major improvement of current quality and better behavior of motor as well. Previous statement was experimentally verified and its comparison is given in the paper as well.

This paper describes an investigation of the brain activity during browsing websites. The study was carried out at the University of Žilina in Slovakia. Data, in the form of scan path from eye tracking and signal from Electroencephalograph, were collected and analysed. The researchers found higher brain activity only during decision making processes. During browsing websites there was no clearly increased brain activity. The findings suggested that visual stimuli of website might have had a bearing on the human active thinking, but it could not be clearly identified. The results also supported the notion that the internet users do not read the websites.

Performance of future electric traction systems can be improved by energy storage system (ESS). Using of ESS is not advantageous in all cases. Additional losses always occur during the ESS operation. If saved energy is relatively low in comparison with these losses, the return of investment will not be reached. This paper is focused on energy storage on-board tram vehicle. Return on investment determination is not trivial for multi-source/load systems like a tram. The main emphasis of proposed research is given to the energy savings in dependency on recuperation ratio in tram line. One of main energy savings influencing factors is power management (PM) strategy of ESS. Therefore five PM strategies were taken in to account for energy savings calculation. Four of PM strategies are basic and one is more sophisticated. This sophisticated strategy is based on the Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy controller (T-S Fuzzy). T-S Fuzzy strategy uses knowledge of the tram line and tram position by GPS. All these strategies were simulated at the same tram line via stochastic tram line model.
