Qualitative directions in egocentric spatial reference frame 自我中心空间参照系中的定性方向

In this paper, we have presented a formalism for representation of and reasoning about directions in a qualitative way in an egocentric spatial reference frame. Qualitative direction has been separated from dimensionality of spatial objects and as such, the formalism may be used to represent qualitative direction in a dimension-independent way. The formalism uses fewer number of base relations than existing formalisms and granularity can be refined easily. Algorithms for finding composition and converse of base relations have been presented.

A genetic programming free-parameter algorithm for mining association rules 关联规则挖掘的遗传规划无参数算法

This paper presents a free-parameter grammar-guided genetic programming algorithm for mining association rules. This algorithm uses a contex-free grammar to represent individuals, encoding the solutions in a tree-shape conformant to the grammar, so they are more expressive and flexible. The algorithm here presented has the advantages of using evolutionary algorithms for mining association rules, and it also solves the problem of tuning the huge number of parameters required by these algorithms. The main feature of this algorithm is the small number of parameters required, providing the possibility of discovering association rules in an easy way for non-expert users. We compare our approach to existing evolutionary and exhaustive search algorithms, obtaining important results and overcoming the drawbacks of both exhaustive search and evolutionary algorithms. The experimental stage reveals that this approach discovers frequent and reliable rules without a parameter tuning.

A heuristic as basis for an adaptive e-commerce recommender system 基于启发式的自适应电子商务推荐系统

The research described in this paper proposes an evolution heuristic for realising an adaptive semantic e-commerce recommender system by establishing a feedback cycle. This recommender extracts questions from product domain ontologies (PDO) which are used in the dialogue of the recommendation process. The heuristic decides an automated PDO evolution (without a human inspection) in order to realise an automatic adaptation of the recommendation process. The feedback is derived from user interactions with the user interface of the recommender. This research shows that the automated PDO evolution outperforms a manual one. The evolution heuristic has been evaluated with an experiment and validated in real-world testing series.

Person re-identification based on visual saliency 基于视觉显著性的人物再识别

Person re-identification has long been a significant research direction in intelligent network surveillance. The challenging issues in person re-identification consist in pose, viewpoint and illumination changes and occlusions. In this paper, we propose a saliency based approach, which simulates the recognition process of the human brain, to tackle these issues. When people see a picture, they tend to focus on the salient areas and information in those areas is more determinant in the further matching and identification process. This so-called visual attention mechanism has long been studied and used in image segmentation, tracking, detection and recognition. To simulate this distinctive mechanism, we first calculate the saliency map which indicates the conspicuity of each pixel, and then we extract the saliency map weighted HSV histograms by giving each pixel a weight according to its saliency. We also design another feature, the salient colors, to address the occlusion problem. By opportunely combining these two features, our approach achieved state of the art performances.

Enhancing ADSL customer satisfaction with fuzzy expert system case study: Chiang-Rai, Thailand 模糊专家系统提高ADSL用户满意度的案例研究:泰国Chiang-Rai

Customer satisfaction of ADSL internet service provider could be improved easily by using fuzzy expert system. The researcher developed application that used fuzzy technology for ADSL Internet Service Provider in Chiang-Rai, Thailand. The application read Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) and Attenuation values from each customer' ADSL router and use these two values as input of fuzzy expert system. The software used principle of fuzzy sets and Mamdani inference method to get final answer of which support level should the ISP provide to each customer at a time. There were 3 levels of service order, level 1 - do nothing (normal situation), level 2 - remote fix (not severe situation) and level 3 - on-site fix (severe situation). By routine checking, the application could report about ADSL situation of each customer. If support level was 3, the technicians in charge would be alerted automatically by SMS and Email with detail of that customer, so they could visit customer site immediately. By using this system, all stakeholders, such as customers, managements, technicians and specialists were satisfied since it could warn beforehand so technicians could fix fast and the maintenance cost was low.

Interpreting the 2011 London riots from twitter metadata 从 twitter 元数据解读 2011 年伦敦骚乱

Social media have rapidly become one of the principal venues for personal and public communication. This makes them rich sources of information about real-world events. As a case study, we used Twitter metadata to investigate social dimensions of the 2011 London riots. The results showed that Twitter-based commentary and participation in the London Riots are closely linked to the real-world manifestation of the riots (e.g. in terms of geographic presence). Twitter metadata on users and their messages during the riots can be used to generate useful inferences which allows us to gain a better insight into intents, information-sharing behavior, and demographics of both the rioters and observers of the riots. Pattern recognition approaches can be used to further reveal latent properties from the acquired inferences.

Finding meaningful outliers by incorporating negative association rules in Frequent Pattern Outlier Detection Method 在频繁模式离群点检测方法中引入负关联规则来寻找有意义的离群点

Outlier Mining has always attract much attention among the data mining community. This paper discusses on the discovery of meaningful outlier based on Frequent Pattern Outlier Detection Method. The PAR rules obtained is explored. By incorporating the Negative Association Rules to the PAR rules, a comprehensive and significant knowledge will be able to discover from the meaningful outliers. These would help experts in the field to interpret better for hidden knowledge especially in medical and scientific fields.

Classification of RSS feed news items using ontology 使用本体对RSS提要新闻项进行分类

Explosive growth of data on the web demand techniques, which would enable the user to access desired information. In Information retrieval Document Classification is prerequisite. In practice many classification techniques were and are in use. Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) is an approach which represents documents based on the frequency of terms in documents. Limitation of this approach is high dimensionality of data. Moreover it does not consider the relations among the terms, resulting in less precise and noisy end result. In our approach we are using weighted Concept Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (CF-IDF) with background knowledge of domain Ontology, for classification of RSS feed News Items. Metadata information of news items has been used to assign weight to the identified concepts. No trained classifiers are required as Ontology itself acts as a classifier. We have designed ontology based on news industry standards. This classification approach considers relations among the concepts and properties. It results in reduction of noise in final output. It considers only the key concepts of a domain for classification instead of all the terms, which curbs the problem of dimensionality. Evaluation of experimental results reveals that proposed approach gives better classification results.

This paper aims to create a background for information processing support. We introduce formal classes called object compounds. By object compounds, we refer to the formalism needed for the construction of (biological inspired equivalent) classes of molecules, compounds or complex - like objects.

A bio-inspired perspective towards retail recommender system: Investigating optimization in retail inventory 对零售推荐系统的生物启发视角:调查零售库存的优化

The complexity of business and different variations of service providers inspire the sense of matching of the consumers with the most appropriate products and services. This specific attribute initiates the study of recommender systems, which analysis the patterns of user's interest in items or products and services to suggest personalized recommendations for all these verticals, and also to suit a user's taste and satisfaction. High quality recommendation demands perfect decision for classifying manifold options given to user against a particular query. Hence, research challenge remains that whether the decision taken is the optimal at the end of recommended options. In this paper coined Termite Colony Optimization (TCO) is proposed, which provides a decision making model, and it is used by termites to adjust their movement trajectories under the decision tree from web service portal. We strongly advocate that the emerging TCO could be better a choice to be used in recommender system and most importantly on a continuous data stream. The present approach is tested on a brand named as “Big Bazar” (Large Market) of India. Retail recommendation has continuous data and various constraints before achieving optimized suggestions. Empirical investigations demonstrate that Termite behavior and meta-heuristic approach is quite affin to offer optimized recommendations for specifi retail operation. The research also briefs about the potential benefi of such retail recommender model in reality.
