SEPIC converter with wide bandgap semiconductor for PV battery charger 光伏电池充电器用宽禁带半导体SEPIC变换器

Photovoltaic (PV) charger systems are implemented in power electronic converters for battery charging applications. In order to achieve high efficiency, the choice of the component plays a major role. At the same time, such systems require high performance in terms of faster switching, high-power, and high-temperature operation capability. Converters with conventional silicon-based power switching devices may not accomplish all these requirements effectively. This paper presents the design of a single-ended primary inductance converter (SEPIC) using silicon carbide (SiC) and conventional silicon power switching devices to compare the performance in terms of the efficiency. The designed converter was first validated in PSIM simulation software to assess the effectiveness of using SiC power devices to charge a 48 V battery from a 250 Wp PV panel with a voltage of 30.7 V. Furthermore, a hardware prototype of the converter was developed and tested on a resistive load. The use of SiC-based switches increased the efficiency of the SEPIC converter by 3.6% at full load and at a switching frequency of 100 kHz.

Five level ANPC converter applied as a single-phase shunt active power filter with features to limit and optimize the converter power rating 五电平ANPC变换器作为单相并联有源电力滤波器,具有限制和优化变换器额定功率的特点

This paper presents a five-level active-neutral-point-clamped converter applied as a single-phase shunt active power filter that can be used in low and medium voltage systems aiming a harmonic filtering and reactive power compensation generated by nonlinear loads in which the current control strategy is based on the Synchronous Reference Frame. Two control algorithms are proposed, in the first, a method to obtain the desired displacement power factor is presented, and the percentage of the third, fifth, seventh and ninth harmonic to be filtered also can be set. In the second, the power of the converter can be adjusted to a desired value. The system was modeled in graphical environment Simulink of the Matlab software with the SimPowerSystems Tool box. Results of computational simulations are presented in order to evaluate the proposal study and to demonstrate the performance of the system, showing that the proposed control strategy works as expected, reducing the current harmonics and the displacement power factor to the desired value.

Inverter losses analysis for dual FED open winding machines with a novel modulation technique 采用新型调制技术的双FED开绕电机逆变器损耗分析

With the progress in variable frequency power generation systems, and the increase of individual controlled power units in high power industrial processes, traditional two-level power converters began to operate very close to their physical limits. Therefore, more attention has been given to multilevel converters and they are increasingly being applied to high power systems. In this work, a structure is studied that uses two-level back-to-back converters connected to a squirrel cage rotor induction machine, operating with open windings. This structure results in a three-level behavior of the converter. A vector modulation technique was proposed to reduce the losses in the IGBT modules while producing a current with low harmonic distortion for this conversion topology. A comparison between this vector modulation technique and the level shifted modulation strategy is carried out through simulation results.

Active anti-islanding protection method based on active power flow applied to VSI-based distributed generation 基于有功潮流的主动防孤岛保护方法在vsi分布式发电中的应用

The main approach of this paper is the study of active anti-islanding techniques with positive feedback in a Distributed Generation (DG) system composed of a Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) and local loads connected in parallel. In the literature, active islanding detection methods are preferentially used because they have smaller non-detection zones compared to passive techniques. However, on these methods, continuous disturbances are injected on DG's control and degrade the power quality provided by the electronic converter. In this context, an active islanding detection technique frequency-based with positive feedback and fixed gain is discussed, based on the classical techniques. This research aims to investigate the method's performance in relation to the detection time and the injection of disturbances in the DG's control system. From this analysis, an anti-islanding technique is developed to guarantee similar efficiency to the traditional method in cases of small-power flow through the grid, even as minimize disturbances in different points of the plant operation. This technique is based on the calculation of the variable gain on the positive feedback, that is inversely proportional to the active power deviation delivered or absorbed from the grid.

DC capacitor energization and voltage regulation of a single-phase hybrid filter 单相混合滤波器直流电容通电及电压调节

This paper presents a study about the charging process of the DC capacitor of a single-phase shunt hybrid filter. The control algorithm is based on an adaptation of the instantaneous power theory for single-phase circuits. Two controllers are used to generate the reference current to control the hybrid filter. When the DC capacitor is discharged, the hybrid filter AC current leads the voltage of common coupling point by π/2 rad, implying a capacitive characteristic for the filter. During this period the instantaneous reactive power signal is used to energize the DC capacitor. On the other hand, after the DC capacitor is charged, the instantaneous active power signal is used as reference signal to regulate the DC voltage of the hybrid filter. Simulation results are presented in order to validate the proposed methodology and theoretical analysis.

A control technique to balance the voltage of DC-link for three-level NPC converter 三电平NPC变换器直流链路电压平衡控制技术

This paper proposes a control to balance the voltages of Dc-link for three-level NPC converter. Several relevant characteristics of the converter are addressed, such as voltage capability, harmonic distortion, and power losses. Compared to other techniques, the level of harmonic distortion was lower and the semiconductor losses (conduction and switching), the result was closed to other techniques present in the literature. Experimental results as well as simulated ones are presented.

Stabilizing sets of proportional-resonant controllers for three-phase voltage source inverters with a LCL filter 用LCL滤波器稳定三相电压源逆变器的比例谐振控制器

Applications with traditional voltage source inverters (VSIs) usually demand low THD output voltage regardless the load. The proportional-resonant (PR) controller have been used instead of a classical proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller to track a sinusoidal reference waveform and improve the dynamical response of a specific VSI. Once the interest of knowing the stabilizing set to the controllers has increased, in this paper it is presented, based on Routh-Hurwitz criterion, the stabilizing set of a system with a PR and a three-phase VSI with a LCL filter. Moreover, the inverter circuitry model and the set of PR-controller gains were validated based on Matlab and PSIM simulation results.

This paper presents a current-fed three-phase, three-port dc-dc converter with high-frequency isolation and bidirectional capability. Port I is fed by a battery bank, port II employs a set of photovoltaic (PV) modules and port III is connected to a dc link. The topology uses three single-phase full-bridge converters in the primary side and a three-phase full bridge converter in the secondary one. High-frequency isolation is realized by three single-phase transformers connected in open delta-wye configuration. The theoretical analysis is performed considering the fundamental component of the voltage across the transformers. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT), the battery current and power flow between the primary and secondary sides are controlled by the duty cycle variation of the primary-side switches and the phase shift variation between the primary and secondary bridges. Induction motor parameter estimation from manufacturer data using genetic algorithms and heuristic relationships 利用遗传算法和启发式关系从制造商数据中估计感应电机参数

This paper presents a methodology based on genetic algorithms and heuristic relationships for the determination of all parameters of the equivalent circuit of induction motors from manufacturer catalog data. The approach employs the complete steady state model of the motor and aims at the calculation of efficiency, power factor, current, torque and other quantities at any load. The methodology consists of a first stage, in which a search space for the genetic algorithm is determined, and a second stage in which the circuit parameters and auxiliary slip values are determined. Three different types of motors were investigated, with pole number and power varying from 2 to 6 and from 10 hp to 100 hp, respectively. The accuracy is verified based on deviation from catalog data, reference parameter values obtained experimentally and experimental data. Results indicate that the proposed methodology is capable of finding parameter values which fit the catalog data, although the inaccuracy of these data causes deviation from reference parameter values. The used heuristics is shown to reduce the deviation of less sensitive parameters.

Design and implementation of lead-acid battery state-of-health and state-of-charge measurements 铅酸电池健康状态和充电状态测量的设计和实施

In many electrical and electronic applications there is the need to have an efficient measurement over the State-of-Health (SoH) and the State-of-Charge (SoC). The SoH is an indirect measurement about the age of the battery while the SoC indicates the energy stored in the battery. The SoC and SoH are commonly referred in papers and scientific reports. However, their design and implementation procedure is very often left behind. Moreover, the implementation is not trivial. This paper presents the design and implementation of lead-acid battery SoH and SoC. The purpose is to present carefully the procedure showing how to design and implement the SoH and SoC estimators. The SoH estimation is based on obtaining the battery internal resistance. The SoC is based on the Coulomb Counting method, valid for charging and discharging processes. Experimental results using a 12V/2.3Ah battery show the efficacy of the proposed design and implementation method.
