The Contribution of Special Libraries in Promoting Social Inclusion in Indonesia 特殊图书馆在促进印度尼西亚社会融合方面的贡献

Objective. The majority of special libraries fulfill the information needs of their work environment to support the development and improvement of the duties and functions of the institution and its human resources. However, several service innovations have been carried out by creating social inclusion-based service programs for the general public. One is the Center for Library and Dissemination of Agricultural Technology (PUSTAKA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesia. This research aims to provide an overview of how the PUSTAKA special library can be involved in creating service innovations for the public through social inclusion programs. Methods. The method used is a qualitative method with a library research approach. Results. The study results illustrate that PUSTAKA has extended its reach to communities with limited agricultural collections and information access. The library has also become a maker space for entrepreneurship awareness and creativity, enhancing the potential of the community related to agriculture. PUSTAKA serves as a knowledge hub for agriculture, boasting vast agricultural resources. Furthermore, the library uses information technology to provide virtual services, expanding its reach and promoting agricultural literacy in remote areas. PUSTAKA's multifaceted approach to serving the community highlights its commitment to agricultural education and inclusive social services. Conclusions. The research concludes that PUSTAKA as a special library has implemented social inclusion in contributing to the community by improving the skills of farmers, promoting agricultural literacy, and extending access to agricultural collections and information.

Publications of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society as Historical Sources of Research on the Book Heritage of Ukraine 塔拉斯-谢甫琴科科学协会出版物作为乌克兰图书遗产研究的历史资料

Objective. The purpose of the article is to study the history of the multidisciplinary publishing business of the fundamental Ukrainian organization of the 19th century – the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society. The object is the scientific book heritage of the Society for 150 years, which is a powerful potential of the educational process and patriotic education of young people. Methods. In accordance with the tasks set, analytical and synthetic, systemic and structural, comparative and statistical methods of scientific research are developed and used. This article analyses the collections of rare and valuable editions of the scientific library of the Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (DNU), namely, the collection of publications of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries of the Shevchenko Scientific Society. Results. The research analyzes the entire collection of scientific works of the Scientific Society of the 19th and early 21st centuries, which is kept in the Oles Honchar Dnipro National University library. The editions of the 19th and early 20th centuries and a book collection of the Canadian branch of the National Academy of Sciences of the second half of the 20th century are valuable in terms of content. Special attention is paid to the study of sources on the history of Ukraine as records of the national book heritage. A selection of modern publications of the Society by subject is highlighted. Conclusions. One of the important activities of a scientific library is the disclosure and dissemination of information space regarding its collections. The book Heritage of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society is a unique primary source for studying the history of the formation of the national identity of Ukrainians.

Knowledge Management Organization in the Context of LibGuides of Sumy State University Library 苏美州立大学图书馆 LibGuides 背景下的知识管理组织

Objective. The article considers the role of knowledge management in the library of a higher education institution in the modern conditions of the global information society. The process of implementing LibGuides as a new tool for systematization, analysis, preservation, transfer, actualization of knowledge, and access to it is highlighted. Methods. The study was conducted by using methods: analytical and review, analysis and synthesis, comparison of experience of the world’s university libraries, and statistical method. Results. The role of the library as an information institute in the context of the development of the knowledge society is shown. The experience of Sumy State University Library regarding the LibGuides project implementation, which contributes to the creation of new knowledge, its productive use, as well as the formation of information literacy and academic integrity of scientists, teachers, and students, is considered. Conclusions. University libraries play a significant role in the organization of knowledge management of all participants in the educational and scientific process. LibGuides are an effective tool in the practice of knowledge management, which includes the librarian's work with new technologies, generating new knowledge, and sharing knowledge without any geographical limitations.

Librarians’ Civic Roles and Responsibilities: Issues in Information Crises and Information Disorders 图书馆员的公民角色与责任:信息危机与信息失调问题

Objective. Public libraries can be powerful advocates for civic engagement. They have a responsibility to rekindle civil society and educate and inform the public. Libraries must expand their role beyond physical and virtual space to promote civic practices in fighting fake news. Libraries can use their influence to help students and librarians identify misinformation and caution others against sharing it. This paper aims to introduce how librarians can activate their civic roles and define information disorders. Methods. Public librarians were interviewed using discourse analysis to identify the profession's information challenges and understand their civic roles. Results. Public librarians identified a variety of ways to perform their civic roles, and several constructs emerged in the definition of information disorders. Conclusions. This pilot study offers a glimpse into how public librarians interact with information and filter misinformation circulating on social media. Civic librarianship is evident, but librarians face professional challenges. Although this study focuses on public librarians, the authors believe that many aspects can be accustomed by all types of librarians.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Research Lifecycle: Challenges and Opportunities 研究生命周期的人工智能(AI):挑战与机遇

Objective. This article aims to review the progress of AI technologies concerning their potential impact on academia, research processes, scientific communication, and libraries. Methods. AI  tools for research lifecycle and their potential impact on academia and libraries were identified from various sources, mostly from the most influential recent scientific publications. Results. AI has become a driving force nowadays, creating both opportunities and challenges. Transformative AI-powered tools, exemplified by advanced models like ChatGPT, Llama-2, Google Bard, Microsoft Bing, and Jasper Chat, among others, find versatile utility across a broad spectrum of contexts, extending their impact to research process and publishing, as well as to librarianship. The enthusiastic embrace of AI in research is tempered by a pervasive concern over the potential for data fabrication, which can significantly compromise ethical standards and academic integrity. There is an urgent need to understand corresponding opportunities, challenges, and dangers. Some aspects of the use of AI tools for different stages of the research lifecycle are considered, and the main advantages and risks are analyzed. Conclusions. AI  has the potential to drive innovation and progress in a wide range of fields and possesses significant potential to propel academia and librarianship into both exhilarating and challenging new frontiers. While AI-powered tools represent major advancements and potential to significantly impact academia,  scholarly research, publishing, and university libraries. Privacy and bias are just two examples of the ethical considerations that need to be made.

Knowledge, Preparedness and Challenges in Hyflex Library Operations among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) Librarians in Calabarzon Philippines 菲律宾卡拉巴尔松高等教育机构(HEIs)图书馆员对 Hyflex 图书馆业务的了解、准备情况和面临的挑战

Objective. Traditional library operations have been a staple in society for centuries by providing access to printed books and other resources. However, with the rise of technology, changing patron needs and the crisis induced by the COVID-19 outbreak, librarians adopted the hybrid and flexible (HyFlex) library operations to provide students, faculty, and staff with equitable access to learning resources and services. This study examined the knowledge, preparedness, and challenges associated with HyFlex library operations among librarians in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) Philippines. Methods. Descriptive in nature, the study utilized a survey questionnaire which was accomplished by 148 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) librarians in Calabarzon. Results. Findings revealed that the majority of respondents were female, aged 31 to 40 years old, holding librarian positions, and having 11 to 15 years of service. The findings also indicated that respondents exhibited a very high level of knowledge and preparedness for Hyflex library operations. However, they encountered challenges in implementing hybrid and flexible operations. Additionally, the findings revealed no significant difference in respondents' knowledge of Hyflex library operations when grouped by age, gender, position, or years in service. However, a significant difference was found in respondents' preparedness for Hyflex library operations based on gender, while no significant differences were observed regardless of age, position, or years in service. Conclusions. As a whole, the findings suggest that despite the challenges in implementing hybrid and flexible operations, librarians in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Calabarzon have demonstrated a very high level of knowledge and preparedness for Hyflex library operations. Therefore, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Calabarzon should implement the formulated action plan and continue to embrace innovation to enhance practices in hybrid and flexible library operations.

This study examined the knowledge, preparedness, and challenges associated with HyFlex library operations among librarians in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) Philippines. Methods. Descriptive in nature, the study utilized a survey questionnaire which was accomplished by 148 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) librarians in Calabarzon. Results. Findings revealed that the majority of respondents were female, aged 31 to 40 years old, holding librarian positions, and having 11 to 15 years of service. The findings also indicated that respondents exhibited a very high level of knowledge and preparedness for Hyflex library operations. However, they encountered challenges in implementing hybrid and flexible operations. Additionally, the findings revealed no significant difference in respondents' knowledge of Hyflex library operations when grouped by age, gender, position, or years in service. However, a significant difference was found in respondents' preparedness for Hyflex library operations based on gender, while no significant differences were observed regardless of age, position, or years in service. Conclusions. As a whole, the findings suggest that despite the challenges in implementing hybrid and flexible operations, librarians in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Calabarzon have demonstrated a very high level of knowledge and preparedness for Hyflex library operations. Communication Aspects of Media, Publishing, and Editorial Activities of University Libraries 大学图书馆媒体、出版和编辑活动的传播方面

Objective. The communication aspects of media, publishing, and editorial activities of university libraries were studied based on their official websites and the experience of the Scientific Library of the Drahomanov Ukrainian State University. The objective of this study is to track new trends in the library's media and communication activities. Methods. The methods used were observation, description, analysis and comparison of the content of the websites of Ukrainian and foreign libraries, as well as questionnaires and interviews with university stakeholders related to media activities. Results. The survey showed that the interaction of libraries with the media in the areas of information, consulting, providing factual and bibliographic references, access to collections and a pool of experts in various fields, and various educational events is in high demand. The means of popularizing and distributing their own media content are also common to libraries and media. Conclusions. University libraries should intensify their work with media and publishers on parity and mutually beneficial terms. Since the library in modern conditions produces and offers its own media products to the general public, the mass audience, it should also use the work methods of publishers and editorial offices with different groups of readers.

Мета дослідження – репрезентація досвіду та напрямів професійної підготовки майбутніх фахівців бібліотек у закладі вищої освіти, що базується на інтеграції освіти, сучасних інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій та практичної складової, дає змогу професійної реалізації фахівців в сучасних бібліотечних установах відповідно до вимог інформаційного суспільства. Методика. У дослідженні використано комплекс загальних та спеціальних методів наукового пізнання, а саме: метод аналізу документів шляхом вивчення та представлення освітніх програм підготовки майбутніх фахівців щодо їх відповідності потребам ринку праці; метод спостереження за процесом підготовки здобувачів у закладі вищої освіти, його особливостей та адаптації до вимог інформаційного суспільства; описовий метод та метод логічного викладу результатів дослідження. Результати показали, що організація професійної підготовки, стратегії навчання, які застосовуються у Донецькому національному університеті імені Василя Стуса на кафедрі інформаційних систем управління сприяють успішній професійні реалізації майбутніх фахівців бібліотек відповідно до вимог сьогодення. Випускники кафедри є висококваліфікованими та конкурентоздатними фахівцями на ринку праці. У висновках аргументовано актуальність професійної підготовки майбутніх фахівців бібліотечної сфери в контексті цифрових трансформацій суспільства. Наголошено на важливості вдосконалення навчальних програм, спрямованих на підготовку фахівців бібліотечної сфери.

Objective. The scientific publication aims to analyze the development of open science based on international and national experience, as well as to show efforts of the National Law University in the direction of promotion of open science and management of metadata related to scientometrics indicators of scientists. Methods. To attain the indicated objective, theoretical methods of scientific research were used: literature analysis and systematic approach. Results. The result of this research is systematization of scientometrics services developed by the Scientific Library of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University to inform scientists about their scientometric indicators that reflect publication activity in the two main international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science. Conclusions. It is important to promote open science in university repositories, which are one of the services that manage metadata.

Objective. This paper discusses the capabilities and implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nigerian academic libraries. The study emphasizes the importance of libraries using new technologies to improve their operations and services, especially in developing countries like Nigeria. Methods. The research conducted a literature review to examine the capabilities of AI in libraries and its impact on academic libraries. Results. Various AI tools such as natural language recognition, robotics, big data, and machine learning were identified. AI can revolutionize library services, improve information quality, increase productivity, and provide virtual assistance. However, there are challenges to the adoption of AI in Nigerian academic libraries, including high costs, resistance to change, poor network connectivity, privacy and ethical implications, and a lack of supportive cultures. To fully exploit the benefits of AI, libraries must develop plans and policies, train librarians with the necessary skills, and address the challenges associated with AI adoption. Conclusions. AI holds great advantages to enhancing library services in Nigeria, but careful planning and preparation are needed.
