The present paper briefly describes the Lithosiini genitalia and discusses their terminology. Twelve new terms are introduced: medius, introrsum, conjuga, collis, iuba, jugum basalis, jugum distalis, arcus, intersaccular bridge, lamella centralis, clasper region, and elasma for the male genitalia, and diverticulum bursae for the female genitalia. The terminological inconsistencies in Noctuidae are discussed with reference to the original concept by the various authors who introduced the terms, and the approaches by authors sensu auct. are also considered. In cases of discrepancies the terms preferable are suggested. Fully annotated figures are provided for the structures discussed.

Parnassius apollo (Linnaeus, 1758), known from the Crimea by only few historical specimens, declared here as a species erroneously placed into the Crimean fauna. This erroneous placement was based on mislabelled specimens. We prove that Parnassius apollo breitfussi Bryk, 1914, is a junior subjective synonym of P. apollo suevicus Pagenstecher, 1909, which material in fact was mislabelled over a century ago. We also show that the label ‘Djankoi’ under male holotype of P. apollo breitfussi appeared after 1966 but not when the subspecies was described.

Based on the analysis of quite extensive material collected in 57 habitats, data on the distribution of two species of the genus Negotinthia O. Gorbunov, 2001 in the Crimea are provided. It is shown that N. cingulata is widespread in the Mountain region of the Crimea and on the Hilly Kerch’ Peninsula, while Crimean endemic species N. efetovi turned out to be a representative of the fauna of the Plain region of the Crimea (with typical steppe vegetation), including the Tarkhankut Peninsula. The positive role of artificial sex attractants for the practice of clarifying the details of the distribution of individual species has been confirmed once again.

The cypress jewel beetle, Lamprodila festiva, as one of the most destructive local invasive pests in Europe is currently an extreme threat to the coniferous Cupressaceae trees. The beetle spread at an unprecedented pace and intensity and poses a threat to many countries. Our study aimed to map the Palearctic distribution of L. festiva and measure the dispersal's pace and directions. Besides, one of our goals was visualising the adult’s seasonal activity and their host plant choice preference. A meta-analytical assessment was carried out to answer these questions based on the related bibliographical sources available in scientific databases. Our results confirmed that L. festiva has spread with extraordinary speed and success across the western Palaearctic areas, where the consequences of global warming have provided optimal conditions. The first population successful reproduction was started at five well-differentiated natural reserve areas across Europe in a latent manner. The flight season of L. festiva typically occurs from May to July, with the peaks varying depending on the area of distribution. Our studies have shown that L. festiva is a typical oligophagous pest, favouring certain species within its range of host plants. Thus, the genera Thuja, Platycladus and Juniperus species are most affected by its damage. Starting from its exceptional distribution characteristics, realising biological explanatory and applied protection research related to this species can become an urgent expectation in the future.

In this paper, we modelled the Chinese pond mussel distribution in the European subcontinent under the recent climatic conditions and two climate change scenarios.  Using species records of Sinanodonta woodiana (Bivalvia: Unionidae) in Europe and a set of bioclimatic variables, we applied the maximum entropy approach provided by MaxEnt to build the species distribution models and investigate how each climatic variable affects the species distribution. We found that winter temperatures had the largest contribution to the species distribution in all three scenarios (recent, RCP 4.5, RCP 8.5). We applied the minimum training presence threshold, as a less stringent, and 10th percentile training presence threshold, as more stringent, to map the potential area of the species occurrence. The models show that the climatically optimal range, depicted by the stricter threshold, will be expanded eastwards under all three scenarios. At the same time, the area of minimally suitable environments, represented by the less stringent threshold, will be contracted in the future climate. The species distribution models highlight that the climatic conditions of the British Isles and the Azov-Kuban Lowland are the most suitable, among the uninvaded regions, for further S. woodiana invasion.

Results on the genital morphology and the phylogenetics of the Arabian species of the genus Lepidochrysops Hedicke, 1923 with focus on L. forsskali Larsen, 1982 and L. haveni Larsen, 1983 are presented. The male and female genitalia of L. haveni Larsen, 1983, and the female genitalia of L. forsskali Larsen, 1982 are described and figured for the first time. The male genitalia of L. forsskali Larsen, 1982 are redescribed and figured. The external and genital diagnostic characters in the male and female distinguishing these two species are explained. Mt-DNA barcodes confirm the large differentiation in the genitalia structure of the two species but sparse sampling of other species of the genus restricts any further evaluation of the phylogeny.

A study of Rovno amber has revealed two fossil leafy liverwort species of the genus Radula (Radulaceae, Marchantiophyta) that are new to the late Eocene flora of Rovno amber. One of these species, R. oblongifolia, was described previously from Eocene Baltic and Bitterfeld amber, whereas the other species, R. tikhomirovae, is described here as new. Radula tikhomirovae differs from R. oblongifolia and two other Eocene species of that genus, R. sphaerocarpoides and R. baltica, by the presence of microphyllous branches and by the shape of its leaf lobules.
