Architecture as a tool for attracting the younger generations back to the mountains of Transylvania might seem an extreme option. Why would anyone want to visit a building because it is made from timber? Yet the use of dynamic structural forms reflecting the inherent or at least implied danger of a falling tree can create a mountaintop restaurant that is welcoming, informative and above all a worthy destination. Youthful, yet respecting local history and identity.

Downtown Budapest residential properties from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, organized around inner courtyards, where historicism and free style are mixed with premodernism, socialist modernism and contemporary buildings. The older buildings are typically neglected, in need of renovation, especially the more palatial examples. The damaged roof on this building has been restored to its former splendour using contemporary construction methods, and a new "guest" floor slab, steel roof framing and improved living standards. Even still some of the more traditional elements, such as the timber framed towers, have been restored using traditional skills.

Grafting into the urban fabric of Székesfehérvár, this building seems to justify the use of traditional materials and spatial form. The balanced use of cut stone and brick reflects the cities past, whilst enhancing the play on perspective created by the ramp adjacent to the public side of the building. The sense of harmony found within this building’s walls present the best form of backdrop for its exhibition of religious and historical artefacts.

Co-housing in Vienna forms an integral part of nearly every new suburban development. Experiments in housing forms, material use and relationships between occupant’s lifestyles lead to a new social identity. Simple built forms are linked by a network of staircases and bridges encouraging social interaction. The shared spaces are intended to be communal and adaptive to the resident's needs. All spaces: external and internal are visually linked not only to this development but also as part of the district of Wildgarten's larger vision.

Its longitudinal mass stretches along the curve of the plot, and moving forward from the surrounding construction, it closes the set of free-standing buildings with two marked wings. Like a retaining wall or fortification: it resists the clutter of the hillside. It was as if gravity had attracted him to the bay of the plot — and with it the loose-textured block. —The composition of the longitudinal wing and a bastion-like element bisects the volume of the building. With the proportions of the latter - and especially with the curved corner formation - it subtly refers to the design world of modern villas, condominiums and family houses in Budapest.

"The building is an analog instrument" - which can be interpreted not only in terms of acoustics, but also in connection of relationships between historical and contemporary layers. This instrument can be prepared during the restoration process but awaits fine tuning once performances return to the stage. In whole the main auditorium has been restored to its original form, yet innovative use of electrical and mechanical services has been applied to enhance the spectator's experiences. Not only has the auditorium been fine-tuned, but the same dedication also been applied to restoring this instrument throughout.

Architecture often comes in the form of a spiritual journey linked to the past in the built form. Monumental buildings are often described as places which have deteriorated over time, whilst in fact their physical condition has in fact transformed with the passage of time. Restoring a building is often an act of trying to recapture its original image, erasing the traces of its history, otherwise defacing its true story. This church restoration is an attempt to unfold successive periods of historical beauty.
