An important step to take in preparing visitors for any form of exhibition is the point of arrival. When the subject of an exhibition is contained in a traditional rural hunting lodge it would be a mistake to disrupt the composition between the existing building and its surrounding landscape, therefore, to replace the existing garden terrace with a contemporary styled reception area creates a transitional space between the grounds of the lodge and the exhibit within.

In an age of heightened awareness regarding climate change and carbon footprints to reject the idea of building a new office in favour of adaptive reuse seems to be the way forward. A former restaurant has been redeveloped to create the architect's own studio space, purposely adopting a DIY aesthetic, rejecting labour-energy intensive processes. Reuse of materials to save on resources and waste production presents us with an environmentally acceptable and financial role model. Reinterpretation of the construction/renovation process can be consequential in creating a fresh environment for their workforce.

This timber framed, timber clad home's design was initiated by the client request stating, "we would not like, to have timber elevations". Following traditional ideas for a low-rise home with a 45o roof pitch and south facing rooms a contemporary home has been developed that embraces local values without need for acts of nostalgia. Privacy is gained by orientating storage functions to the fenced street side of the home and lifestyle areas towards the extensive open garden.

Referencing classical concepts of horizontal articulation and strict application of proportions this contemporary interpretation of the built form informs a new sense of order. The choice of material ranging from timber boarding to exposed concrete follow a strict design discipline which informs this villa's interior spaces and how they connect to the surrounding environment.

Primarily a purpose-orientated machine in built form to express ideas of office space, headquarters and on a philosophical level the ideals of a company. Located in a suburban, predominantly residential district of Budapest, this development is domestic in scale yet industrial in aesthetic, crossing the borders between a place of employment and free time. Eventually this building will fade into the landscape due its use of vegetation redefining the link between landscape architecture and the built form.

The church building can be described as neo baroque with a historicizing facade formally referring to the early Roman Baroque, for example the Diocletian "therma" windows. On the other hand, the cross-gable dates to the 18th century like St. Anthony's Church in Lviv (Lember) from the 19th century. All in all, the building shows the stylistic features of Kováts' unique work as outlined in his theoretical manifestos as "the basic principles of modern architecture". Even now, surveys have revealed that after more than 100 years this building is in good condition, which stands as a testament to the villagers who built it.

A clear geometric form punctuated to allow for quality of light and spatial arrangement provides Zurich with a monumental place for the arts. The main task not being to create a monument to its architect, to create a monument to the citizens of this city, an autonomous public building which has long been missing from the cityscape.

A fundamental question that all architects are faced with poses the need to create a relationship with the surrounding landscape. Are there different sets of rules for urban or rural buildings, lowland, or mountainous landscapes, if there are how do we apply these rules? Or is it simply a case of connecting to the landscape itself. Here a timber building constructed from strictly local materials and dynamic forms reflects its mountainous location.
