This study was carried out in order to identify green (environmentally friendly) practices in university libraries in both institutional and individual contexts. Within the scope of this research, descriptive method was used, and also two questionnaires were used as data collection tools from library directors and librarians. Within the frame of the study, online questionnaire was sent to 165 directors and 1614 librarians working in 165 university libraries (out of 182 in total) in Turkey. 45 directors and 341 librarians responded to the survey. The directors’ survey has six main sections including sustainable environment, water saving, energy saving, sustainable resources and materials, indoor air quality, innovation in design and implementation, and aims to collect information on an institutional basis. The librarian survey consists of three main parts which are demographic information, environmental awareness and attitude in daily life, and green libraries. The obtained data were analyzed by IBM Statistics SPSS 23.0 software package. In the study, it was found out that even though university libraries in Turkey fulfill some criteria such as proximity to public transportation, use of alternative options in transportation and water-efficient plumbing, monitoring water use, turning off electrical appliances when not in use, use of double glazed windows, taking precautions against paper waste with recycling or donation of printed resources, there are still deficiencies. Also, differences between universities have been identified in terms of green approaches /implementations and some libraries such as Atilim, Bilkent, Baskent and Yasar University libraries have been observed to be greener than others within sustainable environment, water and energy saving, sustainable materials-resources, indoor air quality and design and application innovations. Although librarians have a low level of perception and awareness in green libraries and environmental sustainability issues, they have positive opinions about the initiatives promoting education and awareness.

In this study predatory journals originated from Turkey in the Beall list, which situated in the context of the literature as an authority, have been identified and studied in detail. Results show that 3.2% of the journals in the list originated from Turkey. Accordingly, it is seen Turkey ranks second after India in the list. While the number of Turkish journals in the list was at a certain level from 2003 to 2010 (seven journals in 2010), it started to show a sudden increase since 2011 and reached 41 in 2016. We believe that the criteria discussed by the researchers (the criteria set by Beall or the others who criticize the Beall list) will guide the researcher to determine the predatory journals in order to be able to avoid them.

In this study, the citation rates and related factors of the articles were examined as a sample of Turkish Journal of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. The sample of the study consists of 148 articles published between 2006 and 2013. The following data were collected in relation to the publications: Turkish and English title, number of characters in Turkish and English titles, presence of punctuation marks in the title, year of publication, number of authors, first and responsible author’s institution information, number of institutions, publication language, country, article type, study design, and sample size. It was determined that 66.9% of the studies were written in Turkish and most of them had a cross-sectional study design (58.1%). Twenty-seven percent of the articles were found to have no citation. The median number of citations was found as 2. Articles with shorter Turkish and English titles and a larger sample size were found to be more cited. It was found that articles written in English have a significantly higher number of citations than Turkish articles. It was found that the presence of a punctuation mark in the title, the first and responsible author’s institution, county, and study design was not related to the citation rate. It is hoped that the findings obtained from this study will guide the authors at the stage of writing and the editors and reviewers at the stage of selection and evaluation of the articles.

Today while historians producing interactive maps and linguists use computer technology in order to determine the word pattern used in texts, it is observed that researchers from almost every discipline use internet and web interactively. It can be claimed that boundaries among the disciplines have started to become uncertain with convergence. As a result of these developments, digital humanities emerged by the beginning of using computer technologies in traditional humanities. The aim of this study was to determine the general characteristics of Digital Humanities. In this way, it is aimed to identify new types of resources and to identify the challenges of new methods and research behaviors for libraries. In this study, the scientometrics was conducted by considering scientific papers published in the field of digital humanities. Accessed publications were evaluated according to the concepts/terms used in keyword plus, document abstracts and titles. Multiple Correspondence Analysis was used in the analysis of the concepts (keywords, title or abstracts). Scope/field-oriented findings as a result of the analysis were discussed. This study tried to answer the questions such as; which kind of services do new resource types appeared in digital humanities require in libraries? Do methods used in digital humanities require new infrastructures for libraries and organizations providing information services? And points out the new challenges posed by digital humanities for libraries and information services. This study presented findings related to emerging new resource types, needs and research behaviors appeared because of developing digital humanities fields for organizations, especially libraries, providing information services.

This study is a descriptive one that aims to measure and evaluate the web site usability of Aydın Adnan Menderes University Library. The participants of the study consist of 14 undergraduate students that are selected by convenience sampling method, studying at Aydın Adnan Menderes University and volunteer to participate in the study. For the purposes of this study, which combining qualitative and quantitative approaches together, data were collected through usability testing, questionnaire, observation and think aloud process. During the usability testing, participants were asked to perform typical/key tasks/questions which were representing the intended use of the library web site and related the current services and information provided on the site. As the participants performing the tasks / answering questions during usability test, the researcher observed and recorded what they were doing, what they were saying about the site as they were thinking aloud, percentage of tasks they correctly completed, how much time they spent and how many steps they used to perform the tasks. Upon completion of usability testing, participants were asked to fill in a questionnaire to express their satisfaction with the library web site. The findings of the study show that the most difficult tasks for the participants were accessing information through different sources like library catalog, databases and etc. One of the main reasons for this problem was that participants had difficulty in using search engine section of the website. In addition, since they were unfamiliar with jargon used on the web site like catalog, database, open access, e-journal and etc., they could not access information they needed as effectively as desired. Based on the research findings; it is possible to make some suggestions to improve the usability of the web site including providing information and services based on information seeking behaviors and information needs of the users/patrons, reducing jargon and replacing it with simpler words if possible, making the most needed information finding tools like catalog search and database search more noticeable on the main page, and preparing a training for users in how to use the library web site.
