The article proposes to consider the cognitive aspect of the word semantics of derivatives with a mutational type of derivation in the intra-numerical word formation. The analysis is implemented by involving a propositional-semantic frame method that promotes cognitive modeling of derivatives of seven word-forming meanings, taking into account the hierarchy of frame structures (frame→ subframe → slot → three-element propositional scheme → three-component specific proposition). The presence of a significant action as one of the three constituents of the deep level of language, namely its core, is justified. The central predicate is inherent in derivatives with a mutational type of derivation, which are based on an event proposition. The thematic filling of word meanings of cognitive content is established, as well as verbalized slots, by which we understand the motivational seme of each lexical-semantic variant of the non-derived vertex numeral. It has been found that word meanings can be grouped based on mental slots or function based on a common theme. Additionally, their verbal manifestations have been identified. The word semantics of derivatives with a mutational type of derivation can be characterized by semantic increments, which are set within each lexical meaning, as well as increments at the level of propositions, namely left and right-sided actors and the predicate component. For the first time in Ukrainian studies, the emphasis has shifted from the description of frame structures represented by word nests to a word value that is established according to the onomasiological principle (taking into account the distinction of the functional-semantic category of quantity from the word semantics). This approach will facilitate a comprehensive description of word semantics, complementing the achievements of derivatology with cognitive discovery. As a result of this work, the actant components of propositions, represented by quantitative content, have been typologized. This enables the establishment of the cognitive aspect of word-formation semantics in derivatives derived from numerals. The prospects of this research also include data computerization, which will facilitate searching for words based on queries such as “frame”, “cognitive slot”, “verbalized slot”, “propositional scheme”, “proposition”, and “word-forming meaning”.

The article outlines expression of the conceptual of linguistic personality in poetic works by the Ukrainian author Svitlana Yovenko. The sphere of concepts of linguistic personality is formed at the stage of conceptualization and categorization where the worldview is designed by means of language and representation of sphere of concepts finds expression at the verbal and semantic level. Decoding of the latter occurs occurs through the analysis of the character’s individual lexicon. Different physical and psychological states characteristic to the image of linguistic personality are displayed in the conceptual sphere. It was revealed that the conceptual sphere of PAIN is the basis for creating a picture of the world of her work, which comprehensively presents the negative state of the linguistic personality on both the physical and psychological levels. One of its dominant psychological states rendered on verbal and semantic level is pain as a universal sign of destructive interaction between an organism and the world around. Hence, protective mechanisms represented by introjection and extrajection become universalistic ways for overcoming it. S. Yovenko’s poetry represents construal of the linguistic personality image. It is revealed that the conceptual sphere PAIN is based on categorial and lexical semes that represent the condition of linguistic personality frustration. The conceptual sphere is formed by means of detecting protective mechanisms shown clearly through confluent and projective vectors in verses by S. Yovenko. Confluent vector of linguistic personality state which is dominating by the width of semantic expression and completeness of descriptions is revealed through substantial (lexis for space, concreteness, ontic identification) and processual lexeme semantics. Projective vector finds its reflection through substantive (ontical, abstract), processual semantics focusing on actions, signs, feelings of object.

The article examines the factors of linguistic integration, the desire of national languages to preserve their identity, the role of the European Union in these processes. Attention is paid to such active factors of integration as Anglo- American borrowings and the Internet. The controversial issue of the influence of borrowings on the linguistic picture of the world is considered. As a counteraction to the factor of integration is the language policy aimed at preserving identity. The authors consider two points of view, two opposing opinions on the issue of regional integration in the world geopolitical, economic, military, cultural and linguistic space: regionalization as an integral part of globalization; regionalization as an alternative to globalization. The authors emphasize that in the era of world globalization, integration processes take place not only in the economy and culture, but also in the language. Moreover, economy and culture are primary in relation to language. Language integration is understood in a broad and narrow sense. In a broad sense – as a process of standardization, unification of language tools in the areas of language use related to the socio-political, economic, cultural life of modern society. In a narrow sense, it is associated with issues of borrowing, primarily from English, and both neutral and expressive means are borrowed. The media and the global information network Internet are the most sensitive to the integration processes. The highest degree of language integration is internationalization, which is manifested mainly in scientific, scientific-technical, political, international legal, pedagogical terminology (as a result of the Bologna Convention). It is summarized that today globalization is one of the main factors and driving forces of the development of the world community. The problems of globalization, including linguistic, are among the most pressing and acute in the modern world, as they are of a universal nature and have a planetary scale of manifestation.

The article attempts to study English existentialism in the light of J.-P. Sartre's philosophy. J.-P. Sartre is considered a theorist of existentialism as a literary trend. Existential motives characteristic of the 20th century European literature are used in the works of the prominent representatives of the English literature, such as A. Murdoch, W. Golding, C. Wilson, and M. Spark. Existentialism as a philosophical trend has played an important role in finding a way out of crisis and forming a new social worldview. English existentialist writers broke the norms of the view on human relations with society. In their works they focused on the concept of man, their essence and inner world, determined their place, both in philosophy and in literature. The named scholars showed that history brings to the political forefront a person who is doomed to freedom with their whole being and repeatedly transgresses various forms of social existence. This is also the main philosophical platform of the European existential literature. Through the prism of accepting such a position, the main credo of Sartre’s entire life activity is justified: realizing and justifying his spiritual, moral and value choice, a person thereby assumes responsibility for the fate of the whole world. Sartre’s main works turned out to be free from serious shortcomings. On the contrary, the synthesis of democratic and individualistic tendencies appeared complex, contradictory, and therefore gave rise to further discussions in the world literature. However, the main theoretical positions of the thinker had a significant impact on the existential literature of Europe, in particular, on the English literature.

The interview occupies one of the leading places among the dialogue genres of the media, as it concerns the directreceipt of information or perspectives from the heads of state’s point of view, as well as from experts in particular fields, athletes, artists. This is what determines the relevance of the interview genre research. The aim of this article is tosingle out video interviews as a speech genre (in German studies – a communicative genre), as well as to define itscommunicative organization and composition, namely communicative and pragmatic organization in general. For the first time, a model for analyzing the speech genre “video interview” has been created. For this purpose the “passport”of T. Shmelyova’s speech genre, register features and parameter of the general communicative meaning of F. Batsevychwere used. The composition of the video interview, its communicative purpose and general communicative meaning, specifics of communication channels (scope of the video interview, form of expression and dictum content), communicationspace and content of social roles of communicators (model of the interviewer and the respondent, as well as factorsof communicative past and future), tone of genre and parameters of language embodiment (verbal and nonverbal meansof video interviews). Video interviews are defined as a speech (communicative) genre with a certain established structure, namely an integrated informative version of the interview genre, which includes TV and special interviews stored onYouTube video hosting on the Internet, which are a public form of receipt by the interviewer information through questionson a particular topic (about the identity of the respondent, his thoughts on a particular problem or event) from a wellknownin the field respondent, who has a specific composition at different structural levels. By analyzing communicativegenres, it can be proved that the communicative practices of interaction participants are created by a specific interactivefocus on the types of texts and discourses.

The article investigates the philosophical space of V. Yermolenko’s novel “The Ocean Catcher”, created as a continuation (sequel) of the well-known ancient heroic epic “Odysseus”. The peculiarities of the transformation of mythological and figurative material in modern Ukrainian literature are examined. The purpose of the article is to clarify the originality of the content transformation of the Homeric epic, ways of deepening the ideological content of the novel, and ways of modernizing the mythological image of Odysseus. The realization of the set purpose involves addressing a number of tasks, including: 1) clarifying the functions of the mythological image of Odysseus and of the female characters in the contemporary novel; 2) outlining the philosophical issues addressed in the work; 3) identifying the peculiarities of transforming traditional artistic material in postmodern literature. The article is based on the comparative method, and the method of philological analysis of the text is also applied. The scientific novelty of the article lies in clarifying the genre of V. Yermolenko’s novel. It is widely believed among researchers and reviewers that “The Ocean Catcher” can be categorized as a travelogue, as it portrays a journey of atonement from the burnt Ithaca to the fallen Troy, paralleling the adventures of Odysseus in the Homeric epic. However, the article provides arguments in favor of defining the genre of the novel as a sequel. In conclusion, the article emphasizes that the Ukrainian writer’s novel begins almost where the Homeric epic ends, but V. Yermolenko significantly expands the semantic scope of the work. The writer also portrays a range of female characters (Penelope, Nausicaya, Calypso, Circe) with psychological authenticity. The romantic and erotic element of the novel is complemented by profound reflections on love, betrayal, happiness, forgiveness, atonement, and other moral and ethical categories. “The Ocean Catcher” is one of the few examples of a sequel genre in Ukrainian literature. The author transfers the ideological and thematic focus from the external plot to the inner world of the characters. The image of Odysseus is deheroized. Instead, the internal motivation of his behavior is deepened, and a profound reassessment of his actions takes place from a humanistic perspective.

Despite the fact that the practice of shortening words has ancient roots, modern high-tech society is characterized by the emergence of new trends in the formation of abbreviations. Processes of European integration, labour migration, as well as the expansion of opportunities for remote work of specialists in various fields in international companies, have led to the need to study the functioning of abbreviated lingual units in professional terminology systems. The above-mentioned factors testify to the relevance of the issues addressed in the article. The purpose of the research is to determine and characterize modern trends in the formation and functioning of abbreviations in the professional terminology of the field of IT product development. In the process of research, the authors have used general scientific methods of empirical research and theoretical knowledge. Content analysis and synthesis of the investigated phenomenon have made it possible to distinguish the functions that abbreviations perform in professional communication. The systematic approach has served as the basis for the study of abbreviations as a component of the terminology system. The comparative method has enabled determining the relative frequency of use of different types of abbreviations, as well as to classify them according to certain characteristics. The most complex homonymic abbreviation has been identified by the inductive method. With the help of an interdisciplinary survey method, namely direct communication, information about the applied aspects of the functioning of abbreviations in the field of IT product development has been obtained. The authors have investigated and justified the affiliation of abbreviations to the professional terminology system. The modern trends in the formation and functioning of abbreviations in the professional terminology of the field of IT product development have been considered and characterized. For the first time, an attempt to classify numeronyms, as one of the most modern trends in the formation of abbreviations in the IT industry has been made. The authors come to the conclusion that in the process of developing IT products, different types of abbreviations are used (by types of formation), which serve as a linguistic method of lingual influence, the choice and use of which is aimed at achieving a certain communication goal. It is found out that acronyms, initialisms, contractions and contaminants are the most common types in the professional environment.
