The article concerns the problems of comprehensive service for refrigerated cargo performed at maritime container terminals. It aims to determine the services range forming the comprehensive service of refrigerated containers in seaports and to examine the opinion of container terminals on customer satisfaction with the complexity of handling refrigerated containers. An approach to assess the customer satisfaction with the complexity of handling refrigerated containers has been proposed. The results of the survey conducted at five Polish maritime container terminals have been analysed. The research revealed that according to the seaports opinion the comprehensive service is important for their customers. The high-level customer satisfaction and shorter service time are the main benefits of service. The importance rating for services groups within comprehensive service of analysed cargo has been analysed. It was stated that seaports need to strengthen the implementation of logistic services group for refrigerated containers under their comprehensive service.

In this paper, a multi-criteria methodology of evaluation of the purchase logistics performance is developed. This methodology is based on the logic of logistics purchase decomposition in the form of processes and sub-processes. This elementary decomposition is the tool that will allow us to reach the levers that will generate the performance of the purchase within each process in order to carry out the determination of the performance of each process and after the overall performance of whole purchase. Achieving this goal has required the use of multi-criterion tools to support the decision - PROMETHEE II. The choice of this method is not arbitrary since it exceeded our research objectives. In addition, the validation of this approach has resulted in an industrial context in a furniture manufacturing group. The obtained results show that the purchase of this group is generally not performing. The sources of non-performance are due to malfunctions at the sub-processes levels 1 and 3 i.e. levels of flexibility, responsiveness, innovation and marketing-purchase.

In this paper, a new fuzzy cognitive mapping approach is proposed, in which the values of the concepts and the strength of the links are presented through a set of possible values under hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs). In particular, we discuss student accommodation problems which can occur at every education system and affect students' academic achievements. In this regard, we interview with the university chancellor, the student accommodation manager, and the top student to create individual cognitive maps; then, these cognitive maps aggregate to build the strategic cognitive map. In this study, based on the experts' opinions, three kinds of scenarios, optimistic, moderate, and pessimistic, are developed. By so doing, the concept with the most value is determined. Furthermore, the effects of different initial values of the concepts on the final values and the number of simulation iterations are analysed.

This study examines the relationship between corporate governance structures and financial performance, focusing on construction companies listed on Bursa Malaysia. We apply a multiple regression analysis on data collected from annual reports of the companies for the years of 2009 and 2012. The corporate governance variables considered are board size, board independence, role duality, number of board meetings, while the financial performance of the listed companies is measured based on Tobin's Q ratio. This study finds that there is a significant positive relationship between number of directors on the board and financial performance of listed construction companies.

This paper assesses the impact of perceived HRM practices on organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and whether leader membership exchange (LMX) mediates this relationship. The required research data were retrieved from four different departments within a logistics and supply chain management organisation. The results show that there is a significant relationship between the HRM practices as perceived by a subordinate and their level of organisational citizenship behaviour. The relationship that subordinates have with their frontline manager (LMX) acts as a significant mediator. In the final section, of this paper the findings are discussed and recommendations for future research and practical implications are given.

During economic and financial crises, it is vital for companies to adapt their strategies to an increasingly complex business environment, and to consider the degree to which various measures of performance indicate effectively whether they are achieving their goals. Few researchers have explored the implications of economic and financial crises for strategic management, and few of the studies that do exist have focused on Spain. Results of a survey (N = 43) distributed to some of the largest Spanish firms indicate that respondents perceived the business environment to be very dynamic, hostile, and restrictive between 2008 and 2010. Economic variables exerted the most substantial force on the environment. Most companies adopted a differentiation approach, which was related to perceived environmental uncertainty. Companies also considered financial performance measures to be more important than non-financial. The results of the survey show there was a relationship between the differentiation approach and self-reported organisational performance.

This study uses data mining techniques to improve decision making process in various functions of electronic services provided by insurance companies. This study focuses on incentive packages recommended automatically by the system to the most qualified customers. Initially, customers are clustered based on their profiles. The fuzzy clustering techniques are used for this study. Each cluster is formed by customers with common characteristics according to their historical transactions. In each cluster, another data mining technique called principal component analysis is used to rank customers according to some variables which indicate the qualification of customer (customer satisfaction and expectation) to promote the insurance services and initiative packages.

The competitive hub location and pricing problem (CHLPP) describes a situation in which the incumbent firm has already established an optimal hub network with existing hubs for cost minimisation to satisfy all demands. The entrant designs a network to maximise its profit and applies optimal pricing, considering that the existing firm applies mill pricing. Customer's choice factor is solely price modelled using logit function. According to the literature, CHLPP is a NP-hard problem and genetic algorithm (GA) has been previously applied for solving it. In this paper, we propose a more efficient algorithm through combining GA and simulated annealing (SA) algorithm (GA-SA) to solve the mentioned problem. We test the algorithm on the Australia post (AP) data set. Comparing GA-SA and GA computational results indicates that the hybrid GA-SA method outperforms the GA approach in terms of both solution quality (on average 10%) and run time (on average 9%).

Organisations need for an effective supplier selection system towards attaining the competition advantages in the market. In this paper, we propose an alternative supplier selection framework integrated by fuzzy c-means, belief-based quality function deployment, fuzzy weighted average, and a proposed fuzzy decision measure. This framework consists of three phases. In the first phase, we present the potential assessments for a supplier selection and their uncertainty descriptions. We divide supplier assessments into two parts: 1) expert assessments using combined belief-based quality function deployment and fuzzy weighted average; 2) system assessments comprised of a multi input-single output system. In the second phase, we analyse uncertainties of both expert and current systems using the well-known fuzzy c-means. In the third phase, we propose a fuzzy decision measure to complete the supplier selection procedure with finding the most appropriate supplier. We apply this framework to supplier selection process of a Turkish Machinery Corporation.

The objective of the current research is to find out the relationship of enterprise development with coordination, relational skill and partner knowledge. To examine this relationship we used correlation and hierarchal regression techniques and structural equation modelling using AMOS. The sample size consists of 246 respondents from small and medium enterprises. Results revealed that strong coordination and commitment for well-built patch up with partners and other alliance play an important role in up-gradation of existing potentials and capacities of the enterprise. Relational skills offer a passage of information to get knowledge about competitors, markets, distributors or customers, and enhance the developmental process. Properly constituted relationships with business alliance enable an enterprise to develop itself with entire satisfaction. The finding of this study suggests that partner knowledge provides competitiveness and helps in exploring opportunities. Furthermore, partner knowledge can be used as a strategic weapon; it stabilises a firm's position where necessary within an industry.
