In the National Botanical Garden (Institute) “Al. Ciubotaru”, four species from the family Xanthorrhoeaceae, subfamily Hemerocallidoideae were studied: Hemerocallis citrina Baroni, H. lilioasphodelus L., H. minor Mill, H. Middendofii Trautv.&C.A. Mey. The characteristics of growth, development and ontogenesis were established.

During about 50 years, at the “Al. Ciubotaru” NBGI, the collection of plants of the Arecaceae family has been created and enriched; it currently includes 34 taxa, in 18 genera. Eleven taxa are able to reach the generative stage (flowering), and seven are able to produce fruits with seeds. The palm trees from the collection are propagated by seeds. Palm trees grow apically.

This article includes results of the research on the peculiarities of the vegetative propagation of five species of Sempervivum L., namely: Sempervivum arenarium W. D. J. Koeh.; S. arachnoideum L.; S. grandiflorum Haw.; S. montanum L. and S. tectorum L. The period during which the species begins to develop stolons has been determined. The data on the vegetative propagation coefficient, obtained and calculated statistically, are given below. S. arachnoideum has proven to be the most prolific species.

During about 50 years, at the “Al. Ciubotaru” NBGI, the collection of plants of the Cactaceae family has been created and enriched, thus, now, at the end of 2020, it includes 985 taxa, in 141 genera. More than 50 % of the total number of taxa are able to reach the generative phase (flowering), and about 3540% produce fruits with seeds. The basic method of propagating cacti is by seeds. Freshly collected seeds germinate over 3 to 11 days, but the seedlings grow and develop very slowly
