At the age of 16, were analysed the comparative cultures of pedunculate oak, which have as seed sources the stands from the north, center and south of the Republic of Moldova. The provenances from the center area demonstrated a high adaptation capacity in the test site from the ,,Plaiul Fagului” reservation, having a signifi cant performance of growth in height than those from the south of the country. At the provenances studied, was observed the instability of the phenotypic variability, which resulted in the change of ranking regarding their growth in different years. This fact suggests that the genetic expression of growth in height occurs gradually, stadially, in the ontogenetic process of tree development. Also, is evident a strong hereditary infl uence of the oaks of origin on the growth rate of the descendants. The use of acorns within the limits of a forest body is risky with the reduction of the genetic diversity of the natural population. Under the conditions of climate change, the transfer of reproductive forest materials within the limits of the Central Moldavian Plateau can be admitted because the pedunculate oak has a vast genetic variability in terms of traits important for adaptation. The assisted migration within the limits of the center area to the oak, a species with a long life cycle and vast genetic variability, is justifi ed by the fact that natural selection will speed up the adaptation process of trees with the prediction of climate changes.

On the basis of the phytosociological publications and our own research, the cenotaxonomic survey of the syntaxa of the vegetation on the territory of the Republic of Moldova was elaborated according to the principles of the concept applied by J. Braun-Blanquet (1964). The basic unit is the plant association. In relation to this, for vascular plant communities, units were distinguished from lower to higher: association, alliance, order and class. Based on the cenotaxonomic view, the cenotaxonomic diversity of the vegetation of the Republic of Moldova was highlighted.

Sternbergia colchicifl ora Waldst. et Kit. is a critically endangered species, included in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova. This species fulfi lls a decorative role in natural ecosystems and represents a natural source of products in the medical industry. Research on the conservation of the Sternbergia colchicifl ora species through in vitro culture is being carried out for the fi rst time in our country. The purpose of this study is to asepticize the plant material of the Sternbergia colchicifl ora species and introduce it into in vitro culture for subsequent multiplication and obtaining a large number of bulbs. Bulbs and seeds served as initial plant material. Explants grown on three types of nutrient media supplemented with various concentrations of plant growth regulators. Immature bulbs produced a higher number of bulbils than bulb fragments on medium V2: MS=100% (with the components of the basic medium) and additional addition of phytohormones 6 – benzylaminopurine (BAP) of 0,5 mg/l and naphthylacetic acid (ANA) of 0,25mg/l. The bulbs were replanted on the same type of nutrient medium for 5-6 weeks, developing under the conditions of the growth room, then being transferred to vegetative pots with a mixture of: peat, sand, perlite in a ratio of 1:0.5: 0.5.

The aim of the study was to determine the impact of compost of bracken (Pteridium aquilinum L.) and fresh cattle manure on the yield and the change in the botanical composition of a natural grass stand under mountain conditions. The annual application of compost in a natural meadow of a transitional type with Chrysopogon gryllus–Agrostis capillaris, increased significantly (P <0.001) the amount of dry matter in the treated variants from 57.77% (at a fertilizer rate of 3000 kg/dka) to 73.79% (at a fertilizer rate of 2000 kg/dka) compared to the untreated control. Grass stands fertilizerd at a rate of 2000 kg/dka increased to the highest degree the presence of legume components (from 44.7% to 71.2%) in the biomass, which is a prerequisite for the production of fodder with a high crude protein content. The compost application had a positive impact on the grass mass composition and contributed to positive changes in the group of desirable legume and grass meadow species. An increased share of useful legume (Trifolium pratense, T. hybridium, T. agrarium and Lotus corniculatus) and grass meadow species (Agrostis capillaris, Festuca rubra, Cynosurus cristatus and Poa pratensis) and stimulation of their productive potential was found. In the fertilized variants, the percentage share of weeds participate followed a downward trend compared to the control. Fertilizing with compost of bracken and manure is a highly effective measure and can be recommended to increase hay yields in natural grass stand (а transitional type with Chrysopogon gryllus-Agrostis capillaris) in the conditions of the Central Balkan Mountain. URL: https://www.upjs.sk/pracoviska/botanicka-zahrada/odborne-aktivity/contents-abstracts/

A checklist of alien plants of Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada is presented for the first time. By way of field surveys and herbarium research, 121 alien taxa (22.1% of the regional flora) were recorded. The most species rich families are Poaceae (24 taxa, 19.8%) and Asteraceae (22, 18.2%). Species richness is about evenly distributed across genera with Rumex, Artemisia and Poa (each contains 3 taxa or 2.5%) making up those with the greatest number of species. Concerning plant growth habits, the two dominant groups are forbs (94 taxa, 77.7%) and graminoids (23 taxa, 19%). Regarding habitat preferences, most alien plants occur in natural and seminatural habitats (48 taxa, 39.7%), ruderal places (43 taxa, 35.5%) and agricultural lands (30 taxa, 24.8%). In relation to the state of spread, invasive (63 taxa, 52%) and naturalised (48 taxa, 39.7%) species prevail. In terms of geographical origin, most alien plants are native to Eurasia–Africa (49 taxa, 40.5%) and Eurasia (34 taxa, 28.1%). The biosphere reserve is increasingly being invaded by alien plants whose introduction and distributions can be explained by intense agricultural pressure which resulted in extensive habitat alteration and proliferation of invasive species.
