Znanje o društvenom prostoru – motivi i namjere mladih za migriranje unutar Europske unije

In this article, on the basis of primary quantitative and qualitative data obtained through survey research and structured in-depth interviews in focus groups, as well as secondary statistical data, we investigate the intentions and motives of young people for migrating from the Republic of Croatia. The theoretical approach relies on Parsons/Merton’s functionalism, the phenomenological sociology of Shutz, Berger and Luckmann and Braudel’s conception of space in the global capitalist system. The data interpretation methodology is based on Luh-mann’s constructivist epistemology, whose central postulate is the observation of the observer. The results show that the respondents have strong knowledge about the spatial features of their living situation. The decision to migrate is the result of a conscious and rational decision that stems from good information about the situation in Croatia and the countries to which one wants to migrate. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that:

When Earthquakes Meet COVID-19 Pandemic: The Effects of Simultaneous Large-scale Crises on Psychological Functioning of Adolescents in the Final Year of Upper Secondary Education 当地震遇到COVID-19大流行:同时发生的大规模危机对高中教育最后一年青少年心理功能的影响

A unique situation in which Croatia was struck in 2020 with a series of strong earthquakes during the period of the global COVID-19 pandemic allowed for the exploration of simultaneous effects of two large-scale crises on the adolescents’ psychological functioning. Faced with the adversity of crises, most adolescents can cope with one or two risk factors in their lives without significant detrimental consequences. The accumulation of risk factors increases the chance for experiencing psychological distress especially for adolescents who are due to their developmental phase more vulnerable to such traumatic events. Focusing on pupils in the final grade of upper-secondary education, the study examines the extent to which the perceived effects of simultaneous large-scale crises are related to adolescent positive psychological functioning (life satisfaction, well-being, resilience and optimism). Local community members are considered as one of key stakeholder groups for sustainable tourism development, not only as service providers, but also as an important part of a decision-making process in tourism development. Determinants of Attitudes toward Women in the Military 军队中对女性态度的决定因素

In recent decades, an increasing number of women are joining the military, which has been historically a male-dominated institution. This study examined attitudes toward women in the military and the factors associated with them. The study was conducted on a random sample of 895 active service members from the Croatian Armed Forces (445 men and 450 women). The study findings indicate a moderately high approval of women in the military, but with the existence of significant gender differences. Men expressed more negative attitudes toward women in the military when compared to women. In addition, the results of the regression analyses indicated that, among men, hostile sexism, satisfaction with professional contacts with women in the military, and professional status were significantly associated with their attitudes toward women in the military. The results also showed that, among women, hostile sexism, frequency of professional contacts with other women, and educational level were significantly associated with their attitudes toward women in the

Teachers’ Social and Emotional Competencies: A Lever for Social and Emotional Learning in Schools 教师的社会和情感能力:学校社会和情感学习的杠杆

The present paper focuses on social and emotional learning, and highlights empirical findings on its importance for teachers, students and schools. The importance of social and emotional learning in school settings has been a central focus of research for the last 30 years. The development of teachers’ social and emotional competencies has been an essential factor for improving social and emotional learning of students. Only when teachers are able to create a school climate in which students feel included and welcome, students can develop and enhance their social and emotional competencies. In this paper, we outline the main conceptual frameworks on social and emotional learning, emphasizing the CASEL framework, relevant for both young people and adults. We proceed by focusing on teachers’ social and emotional competencies, as teachers are one of the key figures for fostering and developing social and emotional competencies in school settings. Afterwards, we address the issue of development of teachers’ social and emotional competencies in various settings. The last part of the paper links teachers’ and students’ social and emotional competencies. We stress the importance of teachers’ social and emotional competencies for healthy teacher-student relationships, and students’ well-being and academic achievement. As teachers also need support for the development of these competencies, we advocate for comprehensive school-wide approach, in order to ensure the successful implementation of social and emotional learning in classrooms.
