The objective of this paper is to build a theoretical framework, which helps researchers and practitioners understand the influences of organisational commitment on intentions to quit and intellectual capital. The study also sheds light on the role of intellectual capital in improving a firm's market value and innovation performance. This research paper reviews literature on organisational commitment, intentions to quit, intellectual capital, firm's market value, and innovation performance using a model that encompasses three dimensions of intellectual capital: human, social and organisational capital. The framework developed in this study suggests that a reduction in organisational commitment will have a major effect on employees' intentions to quit, which is a function of their turnover rate. This will in turn affect intellectual capital, and therefore the effectiveness of organisations and their market values and innovation performance.

This paper investigates the role of tacit knowledge in establishing competitive advantage using the resource-based view (RBV) theory. A framework for studying tacit knowledge, organisational performance, value creation and competitive advantage is introduced and used to analyse the oil and gas industry. The findings show that value creation and improved organisational performance play a mediating role between tacit knowledge and competitive advantage. On the one hand, the findings suggest an indirect relationship between tacit knowledge and competitive advantage, and it was instrumental when directed at creating avenues for improving organisational performance and innovations, i.e., value creation, which places an organisation in a competitive advantage position. On the other hand, organisational performance, which has a direct relationship with value creation has an indirect relationship with a competitive advantage.

Existing research shows that schools will greatly benefit from implementing knowledge management systems (KMSes). However, designing and implementing such information systems presents an overwhelming task for schools which do not have a knowledge-sharing culture. This paper explains how we designed a KMS in a rural low-knowledge school in Costa Rica and how the participatory methods applied during the design process initiated the creation of a learning culture that would encourage the use of the KMS. This paper makes a methodological contribution to the KMSes field by providing three detailed methods that can be used by KMSes developers to approach handling the social and technical dimensions of a KMS.

The present study was aimed to explore the impact of organisational knowledge management processes (OKMP) on the performance of entrepreneurial firms (PEF). In this survey study, simple random sampling was used to select 114 entrepreneurial firms. The required data were collected through a questionnaire distributed among managers of the entrepreneurial firms. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between OKMP and the PEF. Knowledge creation was the strongest predictor of the performance of entrepreneurial firms. This variable explained more than 25% of the variance in the performance variable. Knowledge absorption had a significant positive relationship with the performance of entrepreneurial firms and explained more than 16% of the variance in the dependent variable. The results of the path analysis of the variables' relationships indicated that knowledge creation and knowledge absorption explained more than 29% of the variance in the dependent variable.
