We measured the 4s 2S1/2 - 4p 2P1/2 and 4s 2S1/2 - 4p 2P3/2 transitions of potassium with an absolute accuracy better than 100 kHz. The isotopes 39, 40, and 41 are investigated in an atomic beam apparatus.

We observed highly non-thermal features from the photoluminescence of InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots in a planar microcavity. The effect was interpreted in terms of the interplay of phonon relaxation and cavity-dependent excitonic radiative recombination.

The concept of quantum temporal imaging is proposed to manipulate the temporal correlation of entangled photons. In particular, we show that time correlation and anticorrelation can be converted to each other using quantum temporal imaging.

We report new nonlinear features observed in an adiabatically tapered photonic crystal fiber. When using femtosecond pulses, the soliton self-frequency shift and generation of nonsolitonic radiation result in a dasiashark-finpsila-shaped feature in the power-dependent spectrum.

Nonlinear interactions between optical modes in semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers perturb optical parameters in the vicinity of a strong mode frequency. This effect is considered in terms of slow and fast light propagation.
