Highly efficient generation of THz pulses using laser pulses at telecommunication wavelengths 利用电信波长的激光脉冲高效地产生太赫兹脉冲

We demonstrate generation of few-cycle THz pulses through optical rectification in organic DAST crystals at telecommunication wavelength (1550 nm). An extremely high conversion efficiency is achieved through velocity-matching and the materialpsilas large nonlinear optical susceptibility.

We present the main features and calculated parameters of NH3-CO2 DIAL. It is shown that our lidar can detect Freon-11 at a range up to 5 km with sensitivity 50 ppb.

Ultrashort vacuum ultraviolet pulses at 161 nm with energies above 1 muJ were generated by chirped-pulse four-wave difference-frequency mixing in argon-filled aluminum-coated hollow waveguide. The pulses were compressed to 140-fs pulse duration by material dispersion.

Near-field scanning optical microscopy was used to characterize the light absorption capability of a leaky-mode coupled polysilicon photodetector fabricated for CMOS on-chip optical interconnects. The observed results are in good agreement with modal calculations.

We investigated the magnetic resonance of split-ring resonators (SRR) experimentally. The dependence of the geometrical parameters on the resonance frequency of SRR is studied. We further investigated the effect of disorder on performance of SRRs.

Direct-detection differential polarization-phase-shift keying is experimentally demonstrated at 10 Gsymbol/s, in which polarization-phase symbols are differentially decoded by using optical interferometric demodulation and electrical multilevel decision without the need of dynamic polarization control.
