The long lost Sermoenen op Cantica of Frans Vervoort OFM (1555) have been found in ms. Leiden, UB, BPL 48E, originating from the 'Groot Begijnhof' in Mechelen. As the manuscript states that these sermons were delivered by Anthonis vander Voerde - priest of the same beguinage from 1524 to 1551 - the fact that the author was Frans Vervoort remained in the dark. There is reason to believe that all the other texts in this manuscript were also adapted, written or compiled by Frans Vervoort. Two more manuscripts testify to the intense preaching activity at the Groot Begijnhof in Mechelen. They project an image of a lively and powerful ascetic, religious culture in the spirit of the Counter Reformation.

Henricus Pomerius (Hendrik Uten Bogaerde, 1382-1469) wrote several Latin commentaries on the Paternoster. Two blockbooks on the same subject were designed to illustrate these texts. Recently a Middle Dutch text, the Gheestelike leere, dealing for the most part with the Paternoster, has been attributed to Pomerius. The suggestion has been made that Pomerius should also be the author of the Ridderboec, a Middle Dutch catechetical treaty that also deals in great length with the Paternoster. This article argues that these Middle Dutch texts are anonymous and derive in different ways from Pomerius' commentaries and the blockbooks, instead of preceding them. Pomerius remains to be an author only known to have written Latin texts.

In his article on a series of Pater Noster-texts by Henricus Pomerius Kees Schepers controverts the present author's thesis on Pomerius' supposed authorship of the Ridderboec and three Middle Dutch blockbooks. In a reply the author argues that Schepers draws conclusions from false comparisons, does not take into account all relevant material and subsequently arrives at observations that are completely beside the point he wishes to make.

This article adds twelve manuscripts to the already earlier (Ons Geestelijk Erf 1990) published list of manuscripts from the Birgittine Abbey Maria Troon in Dendermonde. The most interesting findings are the Flemish/Brabantian Chronicle of Marie van Oss, Abbess of Maria Troon 1466-507, in the City Archives of Cologne, and the beautifully illuminated 15th century manuscripts, containing the Revelationes Sanctae Birgittae and Regula Salvatoris etc., preserved in the Convent of St Stefan in Augsburg and in Altomunster Klosterarchiv respectively. The scriptorium of Maria Troon certainly deserves further research.
