: The phenomenon of the fictionalization of journalistic writing will be ex - plored, by following Marie-Ève Thérenty and Sarah Mombert, who analyze this discursive process in which the reality, the facts themselves, are treated as fiction in journalistic genres such as the chronicle, the fait-divers , the travel story, the reportage and, even, the interview. These textual exchanges, which will problematize the relationship between journalistic writing, fiction and reality, are the issues that will be examined in some Mexican newspapers of the early Twentieth Century. To this analysis it will be added the consideration of material conditions and reading practices as possible indicial elements of the phenomenon.

Some time ago it was customary to study literature by placing the figures of the author and their literary projects at the center, paying little attention to the collective contexts of publication (unless they were avant-garde magazines), without considering how and where the letters had acquired the material body that requires thinking about them not only in terms of writing but also in terms of their circulation, in terms of readings and appropriations. In recent years, research on literature has increas-ingly addressed these aspects, providing valuable knowledge to study Latin American literature with perspectives attentive to its materiality and forms of circulation. The dossier Literature, journalism and materiality explores the exhibition strategies, the forms of innovation, the editorial practices and the poetics produced in the intense process of exchanges between the press and literature in Mexico and Argentina during the first half of the 20th century. It shows how the concept of materiality has been expanded, with a variety of significant aspects to think about the periodic forms of production, circulation and consumption of literature.

: Due to the originality of its aesthetic approach in representing a traumat- ic testimony, Art Spiegelman’s graphic novel Maus is one of the most famous works about the Holocaust produced by the post-memory generation. Within the currents of thought on the Holocaust, it is possible to conceive its style of representation as a pertinent and ethically valid solution to the dilemma of images v. testimony. Likewise, it is worth noting how its essentially fragmented, narrative approach reflects conditions in which the work was created: the scarcity of sources and the traumatic and familiar component of the memory represented.
