Solution of matching problem for Pear-Shaped Monopole Antenna (PSMA) for Personal Communication Systems (PCS) is proposed by introducing some matching device. The proposed antenna utilizes the advantages of the simple design to match antenna structure with feeding cable and free space. PSMA contains a pear-shaped metallic core covered by a thin dielectric layer, which keeps antenna size small. PSMA properties are studied using materials with negative permittivity and permeability as dielectric coating. The Method of Auxiliary Sources (MAS) used to study mentioned problems. Some numerical results are presented.

The problem of diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave on transverse non-homogeneous, isotropic, not magnetic, linearly polarized, nonlinear dielectric layer (Kerr-like nonlinearity) in resonant area of frequencies is considered. The analysis of a problem of diffraction on nonlinear layer taking into account the multiple frequencies generated in considered open nonlinear structure is carried out.

A two-sided inverse of the differential operator for the unbounded system of elliptic equations on Lipshitz domains was obtained. It was based on a special convolution of sequences. The Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the unbounded systems were reduced to the systems of Fredholm integral equations of either the first kind or the second kind. All equations in integral systems distinguish only by their right hand sides and allow applying the recurrent procedure for the numerical solution.

A nonlinear integral equation generalizing that arisen in the antenna synthesis problems is investigated. The semi-analytical solutions are found. They parameters are determined from an equation system consisting of a linearized integral equation and finite-dimensional system of transcendental ones. Branching of the solution is investigated. A particular case related to Fourier transform is numerically analyzed.

The field of a finite length monopole whose feed point is raised (sleeve antenna) is calculated. Its behavior is similar to a dipole with two feed points. The mutual coupling between closely located radiators of this type, when used in the compensation method, is considered.

Starting from the model of electrodynamics of slightly inhomogeneous anisotropic media, the differential equations of integrated photoelasticity have been obtained. On this basis a set of ray integrals connecting the dielectric permittivity tensor components with measured parameters of the light polarization has been established. On this basis direct and inverse problems for tensor fields polarized-optical tomography have been formulated.

Scattering of plane monochromatic waves on quasiperiodic layered structures is considered. Exact solutions for complex amplitudes of reflected and transmitted waves are found by method of transmission matrices. Rigorous and approximate methods are used for determination of complex frequencies of eigen oscillations in Bragg resonators and reflectors. Influence of different type of periodicity distortion is investigated.

Electromagnetic induction (EMI) sensing has been identified as most promising technology for the detection and discrimination of subsurface metallic objects, particularly unexploded ordnances (UXO). In EMI, the sensors are detecting signals that are produced by induced and permanent magnetic polarizations. Soils, which contain small magnetic particles, called magnetically susceptible soils, can produce EMI responses and, therefore, mask or modify the object's EMI response. These soils are a major source of false positives when searching for UXO using magnetic or EMI sensors. Studies show that in adverse areas up to 30% of identified electromagnetic (EM) anomalies are attributed to geology. Therefore, to enhance UXO detection as well as discrimination in geological environments, the effects of the magnetic soils on the magnetic and EMI signal need to be studied in details. In this paper, the method of auxiliary sources (MAS) is applied to investigate the EMI response from magnetically susceptible rough surfaces.

Results of numerical simulation of the direct and inverse scattering problem solution (fig. 2) confirm an efficiency of shape reconstruction of the perfectly conducting body (fig. 1). An effect from incoherent averaging of received signals allows to reach higher sensitivity of the indicator function (13) due to applied multiple random excitations for P = 30 and L = 30 .

The sound radiation from transport facilities moved about city road is investigated theoretically with respect of the velocity and direction of wind. Solution for one moving sound source is presented by a sum of two waves, radiated from source and reflected from an elastic half-space. The solution for general problem is obtained as superposition of the many partial solutions. Calculated results for pulsed sound show that the generated roadway noise is significantly dependent on the wind characteristics.
