The National Library of Indonesia launched a social inclusion-based library transformation program based on the library for all movement in collaboration with the Ministry of National Development Planning / BAPPENAS. In 2019, all libraries participating in this program totaled 359 public libraries spread across all provinces in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of general librarians in Indonesia towards social inclusion-based library programs that have been implemented for the last two years. Two previous studies related to librarian perception research and the development of social transformation programs are the basis for the development of this research. The population in this study was 2477 librarians who work in public library institutions in Indonesia from various levels ranging from central to the village, while the determination of the research sample was carried out by simple random sampling technique with a confidence level of 94.5% and a margin of error of 5.7% so that 273 respondents were obtained. The research results are expected to provide input on national strategies and policies for the implementation of a social inclusion-based library transformation program.

This study aims to identify and describe the constraints faced by librarians of the Hasanuddin University Library when working from home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is descriptive. Respondents of this study were librarians of the Hasanuddin University Library who carried out official duties in the field of librarianship at home including doing WFH during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting from the Procurement, Processing, Service, and Information and Technology units. There were two librarians representing each unit as informants, so that eight informants were obtained. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires and documentations. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The results of the study illustrate that the constraints faced by librarians of the Hasanuddin University Library when WFH during the COVID-19 pandemic occurred when: the librarian's view of librarian duties was ineffective; the librarian's ability to work from home was not in accordance with the ability to work in an office; there is no motivation to work at home because the librarian work is supposed to be done offline; the need for facilities and infrastructure is inadequate;and there is no leadership support while working from home. In conclusion, the constraints faced by librarians of Hasanuddin University Library when WFH during the COVID-19 pandemic need to be followed up by providing solutions. The solutions can be made in accordance with the obstacles faced, for example the completeness of facilities and infrastructure and avoiding offline work.

This study aims to determine information-seeking behavior and innovative behavior of final year students in compiling scientific papers (tesis, dissertation) at the Hasanuddin University Library (UNHAS). Primary data obtained through questionnaires. The population in this study were all visitors who visited the UPT Library of UNHAS totaling 420 people per day. The number of samples for 81 people was calculated using the Slovin formula. The data analysis used was simple linear regression to prove the influence between the Information Seeking Behavior and Student Innovative Behavior variables in the UPT Library of UNHAS. This study found information seeking behavior has a positive and significant correlation with innovative behavior, at a strong correlation level (0.762). The character of students with innovative behavior is shown in searching for information, such as finding out the latest technology can be used to obtain the required reference source information. Another character found is shown in students' efforts to obtain the information directly from the original source through various networks and communication media. Indicators of information utilization due to the need to compile a final project proved to be the strongest predictor of innovative behavior. Meanwhile, indicators were found that there were less innovative students coming up with new ideas in information seeking, therefore it is recommended to escalate the student information literacy and library education by including information retrieval techniques.

The covid-19 outbreak in the world and in Indonesia since last March 2020, has caused the activities of most people to be carried out from home. The library is an institution that is obliged to carry out work from home. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the activities carried out during the covid-19 pandemic. This research uses the literature review method. The data source used was EBSCOhost which was accessed fro the E-Resources of the National Library of Indonesia on May 6, 2020. The search used the keyword covid-19 and objectives. The data obtained from the search results are then analyzed against each article with the aim of solving and identifying important information contained therein. Furthermore, the synthesis of all the articles obtained is carried out, namely integrating and identifying conclusions that can be drawn from all articles. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that abroad, during the covid-19 pandemic, both public libraries, college libraries, although there are some closed, there are those who postpone activities, but they still provide services to users by utilizing various information technology platforms and social media. In addition to providing information services to users, libraries even provide infrastructure to be used as a place to distribute aid resources to communities affected by covid-19. The experiences of several librarians who are involved in the response to covid-19, such as the participation of a librarian in providing face shield can provide information to the public that librarians are also contributing to the prevention of the covid-19 outbreak.

This study will provide benefits for librarians in knowing the effectiveness of the information retrieval system and the extent of their accuracy in indexing. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The researcher chose a sample of the searching keywords purposively and then tested them by searching on the portal http://digilib.isi.ac.id/. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula recall and precision. In this study the subjects tested were interior design subjects. The precision measurement of 10 keywords on the subject of interior design gets 92.37% results while the recall measurement gets 80.79% results. The result stated that precision is higher than recall, it showed that the information retrieval system of ISI Yogyakarta’s digital library is quite effective.","PeriodicalId":405170,"journal":{"name":"Media Pustakawan","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132418847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Preservation of library materials or library collections is an effort made so that library materials can be used by future generations. This paper describes the "Malaysian" binding method used by the Sub Division of Technical Binding Materials of the National Library of Indonesia in preserving the collection of periodicals such as tabloids and newspapers. Apart from that, this paper also describes some of the advantages and disadvantages seen in the use of the "Malaysian" method as well as the early history of using this method in preserving the collection of periodicals in the National Library of Indonesia. This writing aims to make readers, especially library managers, know and gain insight into the "Malaysian" binding method. This writing method is through descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Methods of data collection are carried out through the field research, interviews, and literature study. The results show that the National Library of Indonesia uses this method after studying it from Malaysia in May 1990. From observations it is also known that this method has several advantages, namely the binding result is stronger, the collection is more preserved, the binding can be assembled and has an aesthetic side. Meanwhile, the disadvantages of this binding method are that the process tends to be longer, more expensive, cannot be put on too many shelves because the collection will shift backwards, the pages tend to come off easily if the stitches are not strong enough, and can only be used in binding periodical collections.

Transformasi Perpustakaan Khusus menjadi Data Labs dalam Mendukung Open Data dan Open Government di Indonesia
Pub Date : 2021-04-27 DOI: 10.37014/MEDPUS.V28I1.1165

Data Labs is one of the elements of the data center and has been owned by almost all organizations in the special library environment for government and private institutions, on behalf of the data and information center. The term, data labs, become the focus of the study in its function to maximize the use of data (reusable data) in institutional repositories and generally managed by special libraries. The discussion focuses on material that answers the function/role of a special library as data labs; current and future challenges; how information professionals respond to these challenges; as well as how to see the potential of the collections and content they have. Survey analysis and data collection through depth-interviews are a form of research approach in this study. Based on the results of the study, it was found that most of the respondents had played a part in supporting the openness of data in their institutions, and had some of the functions of data labs. There are several things that need to be considered further, namely the points for the roles they have (digital divide, data management, and knowledge workers), challenge points (policies and data openness ecosystem), response points (targeted-groups, business processes, action plans, and skill-upgrade), as well as points for the potential collections and content owned by the institutions (advocacy, needs analysis, open data principles, and inclusiveness). The research results are expected to be the basis for policy in determining the position of special libraries with data labs functions to support institutions’ performance. So it can be concluded that in supporting the transformation of this function, it is necessary to provide competent employees in accordance with the needs for the future development of data repository content, as well as in line with government programs and the global community related to data transparency and governance in Indonesia.
