Simulating the Effectiveness of an IoT Parcel Alert System for Enhancing Delivery Efficiency and Safety During Covid-19 模拟物联网包裹警报系统在Covid-19期间提高配送效率和安全性的有效性

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the way devices communicate and interact with one another. Malaysia has witnessed a substantial increase in online purchasing in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic and the Malaysian government's mobility control order (MCO) have contributed to the rise in online sales. This circumstance has resulted in a substantial increase in the number of packages that Malaysian delivery firms must manage, producing issues for both homeowners and delivery services. Unattended parcel delivery, parcel loss, and unsuccessful delivery efforts have become widespread. This paper proposes an IoT-based Parcel Delivery Alert System to address the challenges associated with unattended parcel delivery, parcel loss, and failed delivery attempts. The system comprises a parcel safe box that integrates with IoT sensors, such as weight and load sensors, image sensors, and light sensors. The IoT sensors provide real-time information about the delivery status and alert the recipient once the delivery has been made. The system's efficiency and effectiveness were evaluated using the MARS simulator, demonstrating a significant improvement in parcel delivery performance. This paper presents the design, development, and simulation of an IoT-based Parcel Delivery Alert System that can enhance the delivery experience while minimizing delivery-related problems. The paper describes the design and development of the parcel safe box and the eventual evolution of the system. One can acquire access to the safe box by scanning the tracking number on the package's delivery label using a QR code.

Subsoil Condition and Development of Geo-Data Set for Effective Design, Construction and Management of Engineering Structures in Ondo Metropolis, Southwestern Nigeria 尼日利亚西南部Ondo大都市工程结构有效设计、施工和管理的地基条件和地理数据集的开发

This study deals with development of engineering geo-data and modelling, as an essential tool for design, construction, and management of civil engineering structures in Ondo metropolis, Southwestern Nigeria. Findings revealed the soils are predominantly of sandy silt to clayey silt, silty sand to sandy silt, and sandy clay, with %fines of 48.25, and 51.75 % sand. The depth to basement rock was 22.2 m (avg.), and evidenced of fractured rock at depth range of 9.9 – 26 m. The average static water levels 2.5 m (in well) – 26 m (in borehole). The average values of plasticity index, soaked CBR, group index, unconfined compressive strength, and permeability are 23.9%,  7%, 6, 186.8 KN/m2, and 1.68E-05 cm/s respectively. The recommended minimum thickness of 79 – 140 mm (avg. 109 mm) obtained from design curves will be sufficient for flexible pavement. The average allowable bearing capacity of the soil for square and round foundations varied from 234 – 297 KN/m2 (avg. 268 KN/m2) and 232 – 298 KN/m2 (avg. 268 KN/m2) with estimated total settlement of 17.69 – 18.88 mm (avg. 18.28 mm) for structural pressure of 100 KN/m2. For embankment, the suitability index of the soil suggests a fair/expanding not collapsible construction material. Rocks of igneous and metamorphic rock of high compressive/shear strength, modulus of elasticity, high crushing strength, low deformability, and presumable bearing capacity of 8, 000 – 10, 000 KPa when fresh, and between 5000 – 7000 KPa when slightly weathered. Therefore are valuable as foundation constructions, aggregate in pavement, building stone, and armourstones. The correlation coefficients give between MDD/PI vs. CBR (0.1113), LL vs. coefficient of consolidation (0.0018), PI vs. undrained shear strength/effective overburden (0.0332), PI vs. angle of shearing (0.013), dry density vs. angle of shearing (0.2131), suitability index vs. CBRs (0.3494), clay contents vs. PI (0.422).

Detection of Traffic Rule Violations Using Machine Learning: An Analytical Review 使用机器学习检测交通规则违规:分析综述

This research paper focuses on current and previous efforts to detect traffic rule violations. So far, some remarkable works have been discovered, and many approaches for detecting traffic rule violations have been introduced from the current situation. Hence, machine learning has been the main target to detect traffic rule violations. A summary of the frameworks and methods that have been used to solve this problem so far is also provided in this study. This study has been divided into two parts. In the first part, the recent works on traffic rule violations have been portrayed. Moreover, the algorithms and frameworks that have been used so far and major works on violation detection using machine learning can be found in this section. In the second part, this study summarizes a brief discussion based on the image quality, camera resolution, device performance, and accuracy level of the works, as well as the algorithms and frameworks that have been used to conduct the detection of traffic rule violation problems using machine learning.

A Simple Characterisation of Violacein Compound Derived from Chromobacterium sp. strain Dyh27s2016 and its Antimicrobial Activity Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa 从嗜色杆菌sp.菌株Dyh27s2016中分离得到的堇菜素化合物的简单表征及其对铜绿假单胞菌的抑菌活性

Chromobacterium sp. strain Dyh27s2016 was isolated from the lake at Manipal International University. Its purple pigmented violacein is hypothesised for a broad spectrum of intriguing biological properties, specifically as an antibacterial agent against Gram-negative bacteria. Hence, the current study aimed to isolate, characterise, and review the antimicrobial property of violacein from the Dyh27s2016 strain against P. aeruginosa. The bacterial strain was cultured in nutrient broth with L-tryptophan (0.1 mg/ml); after 24 h, the bacteria were lysed with methanol (3:1 ratio) and mixed with ethyl acetate (4:1 ratio). The top layer was then separated to obtain a concentrated purple pigment. The pH was changed at varying ranges and measured with UV/Vis to characterize this pigment. Then the antimicrobial test was performed against P. aeruginosa using the microdilution method and gauged its minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC). Violacein pigment derived from Chromobacterium violacein was used as a control in all experiments. For the result, crude violacein from Chromobacterium sp. strain Dyh27s2016 was obtained, and the purple pigment in different pH was observed in varying colours; the compound was particularly decolourised at a highly alkaline solution. The pigment was also able to significantly inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa from 200 µg/mL - 800 µg/mL. Tests show that this pigment has a maximum absorption of light wavelength at approximately 600 nm and antibiotic test results show that the pigment can be considered a potential antimicrobial drug against P. aeruginosa.

Identification and Characterization of Non-Protein Coding RNA Homologs in Citrobacter rodentium by Comparative Genomics 啮齿类柠檬酸杆菌非蛋白编码RNA同源物的比较基因组学鉴定与表征

This experiment was conducted to identify homologous non-protein coding RNAs (npcRNA) in Citrobacter rodentium as an alternate for solving health issues caused by this bacteria. Abuse of antimicrobial leads to the emergence of antimicrobial resistance pathogen. Aim of this research is to screen homologous npcRNAs from known bacteria in C. rodentium, to study the expression of homologous npcRNAs in C. rodentium and to predict the regulatory roles of identified homologous npcRNA in C. rodentium. Firstly, screening for presence of homologous npcRNA in Citrobacter rodentium was conducted by collecting known npcRNAs from S. typhi, E. coli and Y. pestis falling under the same genus of Enterobacteriaceae. Secondly, screening the homolog npcRNA identified from previous step (BLASTn) through Rfam (RNA family) to identify unannotated homologs. Then, target mRNA prediction for homologous npcRNA was done using TargetRNA2 webtool to find the compliment mRNA binding of the homologous sequence and the regulatory activities of this transcript. The npcRNA homologs which predicted to regulate virulence target mRNA were assessed for its expression profile at different growth stages via reverse transcription PCR and the band intensity was quantitatively analysed using Image J tool. The known npcRNA Styr-296 from S. typhi showed expression in C. rodentium during three growth stages (lag, log and stationary). The expression was observed to be high during lag phase followed by no expression during log and stationary phase. This Styr-296 homolog was predicted to regulate mRNA translating modulator drug activity B which is associated with the bacterial virulence. Hence, this is a preliminary study promising for further elucidation of more virulence associated npcRNAs that are yet to be discovered from C. rodentium developing strategy to unveil alternate therapeutic options for diseases caused by this bacterium.

Firstly, screening for presence of homologous npcRNA in Citrobacter rodentium was conducted by collecting known npcRNAs from S. typhi, E. coli and Y. pestis falling under the same genus of Enterobacteriaceae. Secondly, screening the homolog npcRNA identified from previous step (BLASTn) through Rfam (RNA family) to identify unannotated homologs. Then, target mRNA prediction for homologous npcRNA was done using TargetRNA2 webtool to find the compliment mRNA binding of the homologous sequence and the regulatory activities of this transcript. The npcRNA homologs which predicted to regulate virulence target mRNA were assessed for its expression profile at different growth stages via reverse transcription PCR and the band intensity was quantitatively analysed using Image J tool. The known npcRNA Styr-296 from S. typhi showed expression in C. rodentium during three growth stages (lag, log and stationary). The expression was observed to be high during lag phase followed by no expression during log and stationary phase. This Styr-296 homolog was predicted to regulate mRNA translating modulator drug activity B which is associated with the bacterial virulence. Energy Management Opportunities Through Energy Efficiency Retrofit for Hostel Building 宿舍楼宇能源效益改造带来的能源管理机会

An energy audit conducted on a building is also known as a building energy assessment. It can summarise the whole idea of a building’s energy use. Conducting an audit can help business owners determine how much energy a building uses and how much of this energy is useful. It also determines where it is losing energy and which problem areas and fixes should prioritized to make the building more efficient and comfortable. An energy audit should be the first step before making and energy-saving improvements. A targeted audit was conducted on the selected hostel building to identify the energy management opportunities and possible implementation of energy efficiency retrofit techniques. Regression and CUSUM analysis were performed on the obtained data to study the pattern of energy consumption. Recommendations were made on the energy management opportunities for energy conversation and saving with the estimation of carbon footprint.

Wireless Arduino Controlled Fire Fighter Robot Designed for Residential Area 住宅用无线Arduino控制消防机器人

Fire accidents have become a common problem in human life and may lead to permanent injury or death. The fire fighter robot is developed with the aim to save lives of fire fighters who risk their lives, entering dangerous environments. This paper presents the development of the fire fighter robot, which is suitable to extinguish fire in closed areas and residential areas. The robot’s movement can be manually controlled using Flysky GT2 Controller from outside of the affected area. The robot is in the form of a robust and compact vehicle which allows it to move front, back, left and right in small areas with a steady speed. The robot has a 12V water pressure pump capable of shooting water up to 3 to 5 litres per minute which allows it to control large amounts of fire. The robot also provides live streaming and GPS location tracking services during the movement of the robot. This live recording can be viewed in PC or in the user's mobile phone.

A Review of Actuators in Ankle-Foot Rehabilitation Therapy 踝足康复治疗中致动器的研究进展

Ankle injury is one of the physical injuries that commonly occur during physical related activities, especially in sports. Currently, there are established treatments for ankle rehabilitation at the hospital. This treatment involves range of motion exercises and endurance exercises. However, current treatment requires patients to visit to hospital frequently which is very repetitive in nature. Ankle rehabilitation robots are developed to enhance ankle strength, flexibility and proprioception after injury and promote motor learning and ankle plasticity in patients with drop foot. This article reviews the types of actuators used in ankle rehabilitation and discusses the evolution of industrial robotics towards rehabilitation.

Investigation of Compressive Strength of Rubberized Concrete Improvised with Silica Fume 硅粉掺加橡胶混凝土抗压强度研究

The disposal of waste tyres has become a major environmental issue due to the massive volume produced globally. Due to the economic and environmental benefits, it appears that recycling discarded tyres was the most effective way of disposing of these materials. This investigation was carried out to find the compression strength of rubberized concrete improvised with silica fume. The percentage of crumb rubber that has been used in the investigation was 0%, 10% and 15%, with 4% of silica fume. The result from experiment shows that as the proportion of the crumb rubber increases, the compressive strength of rubberized concrete samples is decrease. However, the compressive strength is improved with additional of silica fume as replacement of cement. It can be concluded that the rubberized concrete with silica fume able to produce comparative strength as good as conventional concrete.

Mechanical Properties of Concrete Containing Coconut Shells as Coarse Aggregate Partial Replacement 椰壳粗骨料部分替代混凝土力学性能研究

In most tropical countries, especially in Asia, where afflicted nations included the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia, agricultural waste was disposed of in enormous amounts. Poorly designed garbage disposal techniques are one of the biggest environmental ills. Environmental conservation efforts have been severely hampered by the disposal and management problems posed by wastes produced by industrial and agricultural operations. This study was carried out to find optimal replacement of coconut shell taken at 7, 14, and 28 days of curing by conducting mechanical properties tests. In this investigation, coconut shell concrete was produced by replacing coarse aggregate with coconut shells by 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% of the total coarse aggregates. The results suggest that 10% replacement of coconut shell produces the optimum value for coarse aggregate replacement based on the compressive strength and Schmidt rebound hammer test results.
