Spectroscopy of composite Z-pinch on ANGARA-5-1 installation ANGARA-5-1装置上复合z箍缩的光谱分析

The results of spectroscopy measurements of a composite Z-pinch on ANGARA-5-1 installation are presented. The composite Z-pinch was created with the help of a hollow Ar or methane gas jet which collapsed onto a solid foam cylinder doped with salts of KCl or NaCl. The dependence of the line radiation intensities and plasma parameters on linear mass of the gas jet (3-60 mkg/cm) was investigated.

Peculiarities of wire resistance behavior on initial stage of explosion 爆炸初期导线电阻特性研究

Large achievements in soft X-ray production were obtained by Sandia with multiwire array implosion. The efficiency of the generator energy conversion to radiation strongly depends upon the quality of the plasma shell. Thus the investigation of the initial stage of wire explosion and the method of plasma shell creation are very important. To study the different processes of plasma creation at the initial stage of wire explosion the precision voltage on the wire array axis and current measurements have been carried out.

Deposition of a-C:H films on large-area plane dielectric substrates by means of pulsed surface discharge at atmospheric pressure 常压下脉冲表面放电法在大面积平面介质衬底上沉积a-C:H薄膜

A new-developed method for deposition of amorphous hydrogenated diamond-like carbon (a-C:H) films on plate dielectric substrates by means of pulsed surface (gliding) discharge at atmospheric pressure is presented here. It was found that films properties are influenced mainly by pulse volume energy density and, in less extent, by average surface power density of discharge, with optimum at about 75 J/cm/sup 3/ and 2-3 W/cm/sup 2/ correspondingly. Diamond-like films deposited from methane under these conditions are similar to those obtained by traditional low-pressure (p<10 Torr) methods of chemical vapour deposition, but the equipment for a-C:H film deposition in the surface discharges is much simpler and cheaper than the vacuum systems with various types of plasma generator conventionally used for this purpose. To demonstrate technological potential of the proposed method set-up for deposition of a-C:H films on flat dielectric substrates of 20/spl times/50 cm/sup 2/ was created.

Power supply of a streamer corona using Fitch pulse generator switched by thyratrons 由闸流管开关的菲奇脉冲发生器的流光电晕电源

This report gives the description of an industrial pilot installation "PULSATECH/sup TM/" generating a pulsed corona discharge for use in technical applications. The power supply of the corona is based on the use of a three-stage Fitch pulsed voltage generator (FPG) with hydrogen-filled thyratrons as switching elements. The installation can be used for cleaning hazardous off-gases of-power plants and industrial objects, as well as in some exotic fields of application such as destruction of the chemical weapon stocks. Comparative data on the operation of the two types of gas-discharge switches-thyratron with heated cathode and thyratron with cold cathode (pseudo-spark switchboard-PSS) with a rated voltage of 50 kV are also reported. Operating time attained for the PSS of Russian design and fabrication in testing modes of operation, allows to expect a service life in real modes of operation up to 3-7 thousand hours.

Stationary particle-in-cell simulations on electron and ion diodes 电子和离子二极管的固定粒子在电池中的模拟

The stationary particle-in-cell program system "BFCPIC" has been modified to run on Unix workstations. A new mesh generator "InGrid" producing the boundary fitted grid was incorporated in "AutoCad" and applied to diode meshing. The mesh generated by InGrid can be exported to both the stationary PIC-code "BFCPIC" and the time resolving PIC-code "KADI2D". For calculating the applied magnetic fields the commercial FEM code "ANSYS" is used. To test the whole program system simulations on a simple electron diode for KALIF-HELIA have been performed. As a second step the simulation of the present applied-B diode was repeated and identical results compared to the old program system were found.

URT-0,5 repetitive pulsed electron accelerator with a semiconductor opening switch and a vacuum diode with a metal-dielectric cathode were created for commercial application. The electric circuit of this unit is based on a SOS-technology and utilizes a thyratron-magnetic compression of the energy. The accelerator produces an electron beam with an electron energy of 500 keV, a current of 200 A, an FWHM pulse duration of 50 ns, a pulse repetition rate up to 200 pps, and a diameter of cross-sectional area 10 cm. As an X-ray generator it had produced 30, 4 Gy per minute at 5 cm from the anode on the axis.

Using X-ray radiation to erase information from a CMOS programmable read-only memory 利用x射线辐射擦除CMOS可编程只读存储器中的信息

We have investigated the possibility of the use of X-rays to erase CMOS programmable digital ICs. In the experiment, microcontroller IC Z86 (Zilog) and 87C196KR (Intel) chips, were used. The repetitive pulsed electron accelerator URT-0.5 was used as an X-ray generator. It produced 7.6 Gy per minute (50 pps) at 5 cm from the anode on the axis, where the chips were placed. The maximum dose rate was 6.36 kGy/sec. The absorbed dose was measured using LiF-detectors. Tested chips with special program in their memory were irradiated until the information had been erased. A periodic control of the chip memory during the irradiation was performed. It has been found experimentally that CMOS PROM become free after irradiation with a dose of about 380 Gy, if it was wrapped up with 10-/spl mu/m thick Al foil. The foil only connected chip pins. It is possible to make this erasure procedure with the same chip more than twice. Irradiation erased chips were successfully tested in the working device.

Self-modulating regimes of generation in a powerful X-band BWO was studied experimentally. Periodic sinusoidal modulation of the output signal was observed, which became more complicated as the beam current grew, acquired the character of a series of spikes, and then lost its periodicity.

Operating characteristics of efficient, high power coaxial gyroklystron amplifiers 高效、高功率同轴回旋速调管放大器的工作特性

We are currently conducting a series of experiments on coaxial tubes which are designed to produce peak powers in excess of 100 MW in X- and Ku-Band. Preliminary results have indicated peak powers in excess of 75 MW at 8.57 GHz in a three-cavity first-harmonic tube with a gain near 30 dB and an efficiency near 32%. In this paper we detail the optimal results of this tube. We also discuss designs and preliminary cold test results of a three-cavity second end-harmonic device, which is expected to give comparable results at 17.14 GHz.

At the present time, research on the production of short X-ray pulses is still a very active and attractive domain. The domains of application of such pulses are extremely wide and, in addition to conventional industrial use in radiography, cover many topics of scientific and industrial research. Following the well-known configuration of the pulsed direct discharge in vacuum devices, a pulsed field emission X-ray source (PFEXS) was developed at the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics-Bucharest.
