In the present study, we try to apply the categories of the recent French phenomenology of donation to the four possible figures of the nothingness established by Kant at the end of his “Trascendental Analytic”. In this way, each one of such figures are examined in order to show the peculiar way of givenness that they adopt when it comes to appearing and revealing. The question concerning “not-being-yet” implicitly contained in the concept of “possibility” is also broached, taking into account Kant´s “ontological” theory in which Being is identified with the absolute “position” of a thing. To conclude, the anthropological implications derived from the phenomenological consideration of the four Kantian types of nothingness are shown.

This work is an exploration of the concept of Enlightenment. First, the historiographical construction of the Enlightenment is examined to distinguish topics that characterized the ruptures and continuities in the sucessive interpretations. Subsequently, the issue is discussed in the context of the debate between Modernity and Postmodernity. Finally, question about the Enlightenment is discussed in relation to the possibilities of the philosophy of history and language. It concludes the need to recover the philosophy of history as legacy of the Enlightenment, and considers how such a recovery could be made.

In The revolution of the saints. A study in the origins of radical politics , Michael Walzer describes modern political subjectivity based on the analysis of puritan calvinism throughout the 17th century. In this article we propose a brief history of the term “Enthusiasm” ( Enthusiasmus , Schwarmerei ) in order to show in which ways the theoretical precautions elaborated on religious enthusiasm constitutes a reaction against some key discursive peculiarities also present in modern political practices. According to our thesis, these conceptualizations reflect a number of features inherent to social languages that between 17th and 18th centuries moved from the religious sphere to our modern secular realm.

This article explores the role of Descartes in the work of the French writer Paul Valery. Key elements of the Valery’s thought are examined through some of his texts on the philosopher, as well as the readings of authors such as Derrida, Benjamin, Lowith and Blumenberg. I will argue the paramount importance of the prose work of this poet for the study of the crisis of the cartesian subject and the evolution of contemporary philosophy.

Sensory perception tells us about the perception of the world, that is why, deciphering a context, will allow us to reconstruct and re-compose the cultural values of that moment. We will seek to delineate this rediscovery of the body through the selected heuristic material, where the sensory approach will be a bridge to understand the complexity of the disease. The first approach of the doctor will be through touch. In this sense, by contiguity and proximity, hand and touch have been, since ancient times, linked to healing and pain relief.
