Many courses in the software engineering area are centered around team-based project development. Evaluating these projects is a challenge due to the difficulty of measuring individual student contributions versus team contributions. The adoption of distributed version control systems like Git enables the measurement of students' and teams' contributions to the project. In this work, we analyze the contributions within five software development projects from undergraduate courses that used project-based learning. For this, we generate visualizations of aggregated Git metrics using inequality indexes and inter-decile ratios, which offer insights into the practices and processes followed by students and teams throughout the project development. This approach allowed us to identify both inequality among students' contributions and development processes with a non-steady pace, rendering a useful feedback tool for instructors and students during the development of the project. Further studies can be conducted to assess the complexity and value of students' contributions by analyzing their source code commits and other software artifacts.

This paper presents the redesign of the academic follow-up process established in the Colombia' Ministry of National Education (MEN) Guide No. 34, by the application of the Business Process Management (BPM) model, to improve its quality indicators within the Academic Management area in a public educational institution in the department of Quindío (Colombia). This case is presented as a feasible project that proposes a solution to the need to restructure the way in which academic processes are interpreted and managed within the country's public educational institutions due to the lack of specification, understanding of current processes and components. that integrate the institutional academic management. The methodology incorporates the process improvement techniques proposed by Dumas, M., et al. The redesign of the academic monitoring process, and the specification of the new key performance indicators or KPIs for each redesigned sub-process, promoted the quantification of the positive impact of the application of the BPM model in the redesign of the academic follow-up process and the improvement of its quality indicators within the field of academic management.

In this work, an initial study on the automatic recognition of the main Brazilian music genres is presented: Axé, Forró, MPB, Rock, Samba, and Sertanejo. Through the extraction of representative musical characteristics, automatic classification experiments were performed applying classical supervised learning algorithms and Weka ML tool. An analysis of the main available databases was also carried out: GTZAN, FMA, AudioSet, RWC, ISMIR, Magnatune, and LMD. There is a scarcity of cultural diversity on these bases, most of which concentrate globally more popular styles such as Pop and Rock, reinforcing the need to include more diverse and culturally identifiable genres, such as Brazilians. The preliminary results obtained demonstrate the adequacy of the recognition process of the main Brazilian musical genres.

The process of evaluating the Human Resources performance of a project generates a large amount of information that conditions timely decision-making at runtime and serves as a basis for study to perfect or correct future management strategies. When the volume of information generated is very high, it is difficult to identify the truly important information. This research proposes a solution to the problems posed from the implementation of a method based on Linguistic Summarization of Data for the construction of Linguistic Summaries from the generation of Association Rules.

Effective actions to mitigate air pollution require of availability of high-resolution observations. Low-cost sensor technologies have emerged as an affordable solution to cope with this deficiency. However, since low-cost sensors are built with low-cost materials, they are prone to errors, gaps, bias, and noise. These problems need to be solved before data can be used to support research or decision making. Addressing lack of reliability in low-cost sensor data is a complex challenge that is still under research over several lines (e.g. accuracy estimation of low-cost sensor data). Current approaches in this line involve modeling, bias-correction, and more recently, data fusion methods relying on high-resolution air quality computational models. Overall, accuracy estimation can be reduced to a modeling problem. The focus of this work is studying, testing, and comparing suitable approaches for handling point-referenced spatio-temporal sensor data, particularly classical spatial models, spatio-temporal models, and popular machine learning methods. Among these approaches, Bayesian hierarchical models have a special consideration given the attention they have drawn during the last fifteen years. The benchmark supporting this comparison study is a real-life dataset made up of daily ozone observations taken from the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and meteorological variables extracted from the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Project (NNRP). The main contributions of this work are: (1) a systematic comparison of three kinds of models, using a 10-fold cross-validation exercise; and (2) a feature engineering method to create covariates meant to harness spatially correlated observations of point-referenced sensor data.

One of the main problems in chilean beekeeping is the late diseases diagnosis that affects beehives. In this work, convolutional neuronal networks are used to create a system that detect beehives health by classifying the sound they emit represented by spectrograms. A dataset is made from audio registers recorded in Chile. From this data, two models for beehives classification are elaborated with different architectures. The model implemented through Transfer Learning obtains a high percentage of accuracy (0.9303 in validation) at classifying recordings according to their health condition, which is comparable to other related publications about Machine Learning applied in beekeeping.

This paper describes and discusses a pilot study about code quality practices from the software development leader perspective. Semi-structured interview and thematic analysis have been selected as qualitative analysis methods. This article introduces the design of the research protocol, the execution of the interviews and the analysis process. The results drawn from the present study suggest potential dependence of the practices according to the context of the organisation: type of client and methodology. Code review, pull request in distributed repositories and coding standards emerge as the main code quality practices.
