The article presents the activities of the History Section of the Society of Military Sciences by also looking back at the predecessor of this organization – short-lived Society of the Founders of Military Sciences and some fragmentary information about its functioning. It addresses the activities of the individuals who initiated the research in military history during the interwar period under the umbrella of the society. The persons who took an active part in the (Military) History Section are identified; their academic interests as well as potential research fields and achievements are discussed in the article. At the same time, the article reveals the stagnation of the activities of the Society of Military Sciences and also its History Section about five years after its establishment and the eventual similar period of vegetation when the organization practically ceased to function and was incorporated into the Lithuanian Officers’ Club.

. The article analyses the development of mobility control during the Kościuszko Uprising. Based on the documentation of the central uprising institutions and the local regulatory commissions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the article shows that the regulation of the issue of departure permits during the 1794 Uprising in Poland and Lithuania reflected the general tendencies of tightening migration control undertaken by revolutionary governments in Europe during the modern era. Summary The article analyses the development of mobility control in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the Tadeusz Kościuszko Uprising of 1794. Based on the documentation of the central uprising institutions and the local regulatory commissions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the article reveals the administrative mobility control system introduced by the uprising leadership and shows that this system reflected the general tendencies of tightening migration control undertaken by revolutionary governments in Europe during the modern era. From the first days the leadership of the Kościuszko Uprising paid special attention to the control of arriving and departing persons. During the uprising the functions of mobility control and the issue of personal identification documents were performed by two-level institutions – the central leadership of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and local institutions – regulatory land commissions, which retained the name of civil military commissions in some places, as well as city magistrates. The military leadership issued permits of departure to the persons serving in the army. the Passport Department the Provisional The Passport Deputation functioned in accordance with the by the 28 until suppression the the activities of the Passport Deputation were to the Security Department the Supreme National Council. This paper has been developed based upon archive documents gathered at the The Central Military Archives in Warsaw, The Border Guard Service Archives in Szczecin, and the from the wider literature. The subject presented herein relates to the organisation of logistical support to the front line during the Polish–Soviet War 1919–1921, which so far has been described by researchers only to a minimal extent. In the first part of the article the author describes the system of the Polish civil administration in the territory of Lithuania. Then the author presents the military structures of the logistic support to the front line, i.e. a staging area. It describes the tasks of the Staging District (Vilnius Staging District Command Headquarters) and the lower levels of organisation to the rear of the front: staging prefectures /prefecture stagings; in Poland ‘a powiat’ is an administrative unit lower than a province – translator’s note/ and staging stations. The author acquaints the reader with the structure of Staging Field Military Police, 22nd Voluntary Legion of Women and Vilnius Military Railway Guard Service. The last segment of this paper describes the stage structures arrangement and functioning during 1920–1922, in the so-called Republic of Central Lithuania, that was created following the staged rebellion under the command of General Żeligowski.
