Cryptographic algorithms are widely used for security purposes. These algorithms have been implemented in software as well in hardware. The hardware implementations gain significant importance due to their higher security provision. In this context, a novel hardware architecture to implement scalar multiplication on the standardized NIST curve over GF(2m) by using polynomial basis is presented. For scalar multiplication, Lopez and Dahab algorithm have been implemented. The novel architecture is modeled in Verilog and synthesized using Xilinx (ISE 14.2) for different FPGA devices. The performance of proposed architecture is explored by realizing throughput/area at the same time. The achieved throughput/area on Virtex 4, Virtex 5, Virtex 6 and Virtex 7 devices are 2.71, 8.51, 11.82 and 10.80.

Software products need to evolve continuously in order to meet the arising needs of the market. Therefore, the new requirements or the rapid context changes are common in software products. Several types of studies have addressed the adaptive architecture issue in Software Product Line Engineering. Several tools and techniques have been proposed but for the evolution of Software Product Line, there is no process that would consider step by step activities from requirements analysis to the creation of dynamic adaptive software architecture. We propose an adaptive architecture designing process that systematically defines those activities for developing adaptive architecture. Our process continuously elicits new requirements from social network services that trigger our architecture adaptation. We introduce a variability monitoring agent to investigate the change in variability model, and the agent decides whether the architecture must be reconfigured or not depending on the change. Our process may support fast accommodation of market needs, and then can improve sustainability of software systems.

This paper introduces an underground fault location model of cable using Arduino and GSM (Global system for mobile communication) module, used for remote indication to diminish power outages and heavy loss of profit by sending SMS to main control room so the field engineer can resolve the issue of an exact fault location. In underground system, occurrence of fault is rare and is difficult to locate the exact position of fault to overcome this problem, we came up with the idea presented in paper. The main aim is to diagnose the open circuit and three phase short circuit faults distance from base-station in kilometers. This prototype is congregated with a set of resistors showing length of cable in kilometers and a set of switches are used to create fault at every known kilometer to determine the exactness and results regarding fault readings, is displayed on a LCD connected with the Arduino UNO board. Further NI Multisim software is used to simulate the fault. This project is beneficial in reducing the cost, production losses by saving the time and efforts for sectionalization of faults and improving the power availability to consumers through an enhancement of overall efficiency of power nets.

This paper introduces a synthesis tool designed for low-power voltage multipliers. Voltage multipliers are rectifiers employed to generate a constant output voltage, which exceeds the peak-to-peak amplitude voltage of the input signal. At low power levels the attained performance of conventional voltage multipliers is strictly related to the transistor threshold voltage in the multiplication chain, which, at low voltage levels (tens of mV), are operated primarily in the subthreshold region or in cutoff mode. To improve the power conversion efficiency of voltage multipliers at low power levels, this paper introduces a novel passive threshold compensation technique to enhance the transistor conductivity, providing a static bias voltage at the gate of the transistors. Furthermore, a CAD oriented synthesis tool for the presented threshold compensation technique is proposed. The synthesis tool gives a preliminary indication on the rectifier topology (number of stages and compensation order) given target environmental conditions, target output performance, and adopted components in the rectification chain. The core algorithm is based trial and error simulator for the simplified rectifier model, which is employed to speed up the computations pertaining the voltage multiplier synthesis.

Growing worldwide interest towards alternative energy resources has proved that electric cars are the best alternative of conventional cars. A vast increase of electric cars production has been seen since 2010. Besides proving benefits to the viable growth and road efficiency, electric cars can be used to power utility systems and may provide benefits to car owners. Plugged in electric vehicle either behaves as a load or as an energy resource and this system is known as vehicle-to-grid (V2G). This paper evaluates the services that can be supplied to the consumers by main grid after V2G implantation. It has been analyzed that V2G concept used for frequency regulation in micro grid. This micro grid analysis consists of actual power generation, base load, peak load, EV aggregator and a mixture of renewable energy. For different levels of renewable energy generation in the grid, different scenarios are analyzed, by altering residential loads and EVs numbers. The results proved that V2G system can provide better frequency regulation in islanded grid scenarios.

Technology has played a vital role in education and significant amount of research have been performed in e-learning field to allow users to learn beyond the traditional class rooms. In this work, we have developed a novel adaptive quiz/ game-based e-learning tool using Semantic Web technologies which re-uses knowledge from DBpedia. Although there are works on game/quiz-based e-learning using Semantic Web, none of the previous works have applied personalization, which is the key novelty of our approach. In particular, we developed a novel user ontology to represent information about users and apply semantic rules to adapt the game to different users based on their knowledge. In the quiz, users can test their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Geography domains that are extracted from DBpedia. In order to test the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive quiz-based e-learning system, we carried out user evaluations and compare our system with a baseline system (non-adaptive Semantic Web based version). Evaluations show that users improved their performances better with the adaptive game-based e-learning system and completed the quiz faster comparing to the baseline e-learning system without adaptation.

Smart TV has changed the legacy TV system by providing capabilities of processing and internet connectivity. The amalgamation of TV with processing and internet connectivity has not only attracted the viewers but opened new avenues for researchers as well. In contrast to legacy TV system, smart TV provides better environment for watching TV contents along with online clips, movies, games, browsing, and full support for web 2.0 features. However, connectivity with a public network (internet) brings further challenges and research opportunities, discussed herein. Smart TV is more interactive; however, maintaining smart TV as a lean back device is an issue that needs further research in the field of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The hybrid nature of smart TV provides more contents for watching; however, this creates the problems of content and cognitive overload. The large Ultra High Definition (UHD) screen, full support for internal and external sensors, and growing operating systems make this device a central hub for smart homes. However, these capabilities make a smart TV more capable of capturing private data. In this paper, we have analyzed the smart TVs from both hardware and software perspectives. Moreover, this paper presents a study of issues and challenges faced by smart TV viewers, which includes the issues related to interactivity, content overloading, privacy, and security.

Social media has become a tremendous success in recent times. It has enabled people to keep in touch with each other anytime and anywhere around the globe. People share their opinions and experiences publically through such platforms. Twitter is one of the significant social networking platform that is used by many news media to disseminate breaking news instantaneously. Sentiment analysis of social media is successfully used to gain insights regarding collective behavior of the society. In addition, sentiment analysis is used to detect positive or negative content posted on the social media for various purposes such as riots detection. In this paper, we focus on the sentiment analysis of news tweets in Urdu language by major news sources in Pakistan. By gathering tweets data over the period of 10 months, we built a sentiment lexicon in Urdu language. Moreover, we devise an algorithm that classifies Urdu text into positive, negative, or neutral classes based on the cumulative sentiment score of the text. Our sentiment analysis algorithm achieves 77% accuracy. Furthermore, we have done perspective analysis in which we estimated the bias in the news reporting through tweets with respect to the government with 77.45% accuracy.

The modeling of aerospace vehicles using system identification technique is a very effective and significant approach in today's industry. The different analytical methods cannot accurately model the dynamics of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The model obtained using system identification technique represents the UAV in different flight envelopes which lead to development of effective flight control systems. The models for longitudinal and lateral dynamics of UAV is obtained using first principle approach. The recorded flight test data is processed using system identification toolbox of Matlab which result in obtaining grey box models for UAV dynamics using Prediction Error Method (PEM). Validation of both longitudinal and lateral models is carried out along with performance of error analysis. Also the different aerodynamic parameters are obtained for these models. The accuracy of validation results show that these models can be used for flight simulator, autopilot design and other different controller design. UAV model used as reference is SmartOne.

A measurement framework is proposed to assess the significant factors which influence the successful implementation of software measurement processes at small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The framework consists of 7 factors i.e., external forces, measurement culture, organizational structure, measurement adaptation process, management commitment, acceptance in decision making and measures and metrics. A purposive sampling method is used to conduct an online survey among 217 software professionals to validate the proposed framework. The structural equation modeling and factor analysis is performed to analyze the survey data. We found that management commitment and external forces have a significant impact on adaptation of measurements at SMEs.
