ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to apply a self-experimentation coaching approach to the development of life skills in sport. A sports administrator (self-researcher), a postdoctoral student (researcher) and two university professors (critical friends) participated in the research. Self-experimentation coaching occurred over a year, in two phases, over 23 sessions held online. The sessions were recorded, transcribed and broadcasted. The results showed benefits to self-organisation, both at the external and internal levels of the self-researcher. Participants also experimented with some elements of self-study and self-experimentation. Findings showed that self-experimentation coaching can be an effective alternative approach for sport administrators’ personal and professional development. Keywords: Self-experimentationself-studysport coachinglife skills Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Additional informationFundingThis work was funded through the FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under the scope of the project UIDB/05198/2020 (Centre for Research and Innovation in Education, inED).Notes on contributorsPatrícia GaionPatrícia Gaion is a postdoctoral fellow at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil who is focused on positive youth development in and through sport, as well as novel approaches towards coaching.André Luiz Castro TeixeiraAndré Luiz Castro Teixeira is affiliated with Minas Tennis Club, a sport organization in Brazil, and through his practice attempts to infuse positive youth development through sport and positive coaching behaviors into programming.Fernando SantosFernando Santos is an associate professor at the School of Higher Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Portugal and a member of the Center for Research and Innovation in Education. ABSTRACT There is a growing need for positive leaders to develop and sustain healthy organisations. This need is growing stronger as the world is experiencing a global pandemic, social and political unrest worldwide, the need for diverse, equitable and inclusive work cultures, and a growing call for environmental focus. Leaders are not only expected to drive bottom-line results, but also need to lead mental and physical well-being for their employees. Evidence-based coaching (EBC) and positive psychology coaching (PPC) at the executive and leadership level can be the keys to help leaders. This study strives to help answer the question of whether EBC and PPC directed at executives and leaders can result in positive leadership outcomes. Using nine building blocks (PERMA+4: the original five factors of PERMA; positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment, plus four additional factors of physical health, mindset, environment and economic security) this study explores using an EBC and PPC framework the authors title, ‘coaching for positive, or, Coach4+’. This study provides a unique perspective to consider and aims to contribute to the growing base of work in positive psychology coaching. This paper highlights an original case study showing results of the new approach to drive positive leadership outcomes.

ABSTRACT Helping professionals promote self-care amongst their clients: a proactive practise that enhances personal well-being. Yet, many struggle to engage in self-care personally which can lead to adverse health consequences and burnout. To date, little is known about helping professionals’ views on self-care as it relates to personal and professional practise: especially during a worldwide pandemic where the demand for health-oriented services is amplified. Certified Professional Co-Active Coaches (CPCCs) are poised to offer unique insights into this phenomenon given their inherent focus on enriching client well-being. The purpose of this descriptive study was to explore CPCCs’ experiences related to coaching practise and self-care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Semi-structured interviews were used, and data were analysed using an inductive approach. Twelve CPCCs (10 = female) participated. Four main themes emerged: a shift in practise; changes in clients; personal self-care practises; and professional self-care practises. Therapeutic empathy and setting emotional boundaries were identified as valuable coaching strategies. Participants also highlighted the need for intentional self-care routines to care effectively for themselves and others. Taken together, these findings may be transferable to other helping professionals, training bodies, and clients through an enhanced understanding of self-care during times of crises.
12名cpc(女性10名)参与。
