Bu araştırmada matematik ve sanatın bir araya getirildiği bütüncül bir öğretimin bir denencesi olarak 4. Sınıf öğrencilerinin örüntü, simetri, geometrik şekiller ve cisimler konuları ile bu konulara ait kavramları sanat eserleri aracılığıyla işlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada etkinlikler Escher ve Kandinsky’nin sanat eserleri aracılığıyla uygulanmış ve incelenmiştir. Araştırma öğretim deneyi modeline uygun olarak 15 dördüncü sınıf öğrencisi ile toplam beş haftada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak, tasarlanan etkinliklere dayalı öğrenci yanıt formları, araştırmacı gözlem formu ve etkinliklere yönelik hazırlanan açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan anket formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada ele alınan her bir konuya ilişkin etkinlikler tasarlanarak öğretim deneylerine dayalı dersler yürütülmüştür. Buna ek olarak öğretim deneyinde ele alınan kavramları pekiştirmek için somut ve sanal materyallere dayalı dersler işlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin duyuşsal durumlarını ölçmek amacıyla ise anket formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada matematik ve sanat etkileşimi ile yürütülen dersler sonucunda öğrencilerin motivasyonlarının arttığı, matematik dersine ilişkin tutumlarında olumlu gelişme olduğu, örüntü ve simetri konularında anlam karmaşası yaşadıkları ve geometrik cisimler konusunda zorlandıkları belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar ışığında ilkokul matematik derslerinde bu araştırmada ele alınandan farklı konu ve kavramlarıfarklı sınıf düzeylerindeki öğrenciler ile çalışılması önerilmektedir.

Prosocial behaviors are positive social behaviors that benefit others. Deprivation is an observable and provable measure of absence in one’s social living standards depending on the society or country to which they belong. The present study examines levels of and correlations between prosocial skills and deprivation in Teachers of Students with Visual Impairment student (TVIs). Environmental Deprivation Scale for Teachers was developed by the researchers with 751 teacher participants. As one of the quantitative research methods, this descriptive study was conducted using correlation and screening to examine the relationship between two or more variables and obtain clues about cause and effect. 68 TVIs in Turkey and 73 TVIs in the USA participated in our web-based scale. The participants were also asked an open-ended question about the reason(s) for choosing their profession. The answers were analyzed, and themes and sub-themes were created. The study's main conclusion is that the American TVIs have higher levels of prosocial skills and lower levels of deprivation. In addition, there is a positive and significant relationship between prosocial skills and deprivation. The reasons teachers choose their profession fell under four themes and eight sub-themes for the American TVIs and six themes and nine sub-themes for the Turkish ones. Several factors, such as the differences in the education systems of the two countries and the levels of development, may impact prosocial skills and deprivation levels.

Online counseling has been increasingly becoming widespread. Nevertheless, the number of studies investigating counselees' online counseling experience in-depth is scarce, especially in Turkey, despite the proliferation of the service. Therefore, this phenomenological study aims to understand the experiences of participants who received online counseling regarding satisfaction and therapeutic alliance. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with six participants. Thematic analysis was applied to explore their satisfaction with online counseling and therapeutic alliance. The results showed that three themes emerged for satisfaction with online counseling; improvements in the symptoms, the flexibility of the online counseling, and limitations of online counseling. Thematic analysis of therapeutic alliance revealed the themes; goals, tasks, and bond. As a result, the participants reported high satisfaction with the online sessions, and they were able to establish a therapeutic alliance with their counselor in setting goals, seeking solutions to problems, and bonding. Overall, most of the participants reported positive experiences with online counseling in terms of improvement in their situation and establishing significant relationships with their counselor over the Internet.

The phenomenon of war and peace has existed since the beginning of humanity. While the Turkish Language Association defines "war" as struggling, struggling to eliminate something, struggling to destroy something and fight, the Association defines "peace" as an environment of tolerance, harmony and mutual understanding. In the process of transforming war into peace, individuals must first acquire knowledge, develop skills and attitudes. The most important concepts to be acquired regarding this process are tolerance, justice, human rights, democracy and equality. These concepts are abstract and difficult for the preschool child to comprehend. Researches reveal that starting from the preschool period, quality education, educational environment, methods and materials are required for the comprehension of the concept of war and peace, which are among the abstract and difficult subjects for children. In this respect, the study was carried out in order to examine the suitability of the illustrated children's books, which cover the subject of war and peace, for the preschool period. Qualitative research method was preferred in the study. Reviewed books group consists of 22 illustrated children's books determined by the criterion sampling method that is one of the purposive sampling methods. Illustrated children's books were examined by document analysis method. The data related to the study were analyzed through descriptive analysis and content analysis techniques. As a result of the research, it can be said that in the illustrated children's books examined, there is not enough attention to the developmental characteristics of the child in the process of explaining the cause of the war, including positive emotions as well as negative ones, and resolving the war.

Araştırmaya Akdeniz bölgesinde bulunan bir üniversitede eğitim-öğretime devam etmekte olan 18 lisans son sınıf öğrencisi (11 kadın, 7 erkek) katılmıştır. Veri toplamak amacıyla araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan "yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu” ve katılımcıların demografik bilgilerine ulaşmak amacıyla "kişisel bilgi formu" kullanılmıştır. This study was conducted to determine the predictive power of variables that early maladaptive schema domains on the psychological tendencies associated with the romantic relationships in university students. Young Schema Questionnaire- SF3, The Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire, and The Personal Information Form were used to collect the data. The sample of the research was composed of 334 students who have a romantic relationship history of at least six months. The average age of the participants was 22.63 and 68% of them were female and 30.8% of them were male. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was conducted. The results of this study showed that; the psychological tendencies associated with the romantic relationships were associated with early maladaptive schema domains, and it was concluded that romantic relationship tendencies were predominantly associated with impaired autonomy and other-directedness schema domains. However, it was seen that the predicting power of disconnection and rejection, and over vigilance schema domains on the tendencies associated with the romantic relationship was low.

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between semantic knowledge and verbal working memory (VWM) in children with typical development (TD), Down syndrome (DS) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).Descriptive research and relational research methods were used in the design of the research.Children in the study group were matched with the Raven Colored Progressive Matrices Test according to their non-verbal intelligence score.The study group of the study consisted of 17 TD children aged 4-5 years and 14 DS and 15 ASD children whose nonverbal intelligence ages are between 4-5 years.Semantic knowledge was evaluated in the dimensions of vocabulary breath and vocabulary depth.The language sample collected in narrative context was used to evaluate of vocabulary breath. Vocabulary Depth Test (VDT) was used to assess vocabulary depth.VWM was assessed with the Nonsense Word Repetition Test (NWR).The results of the research revealed that all groups showed significant differences in vocabulary breadth, vocabulary depth and VWM performances.It was found that there was a significant and positive relationship between vocabulary breadth, vocabulary depth and VWM in all groups.VMW predicted vocabulary breadth and vocabulary depth in children with TD and DS.Vocabulary breadth was found to predict vocabulary depth in children with TD and ASD.However, VMW did not predict vocabulary breadth and depth in ASD.The results obtained from the study show that the results differ in the two different diagnostic groups.While the results were discussed regarding the contribution of verbal working memory in the acquisition of semantic knowledge in DS, the importance of word width in the acquisition of word depth in ASD was discussed. In addition, it has been suggested to examine different variables that may be effective in the development of semantic knowledge in both diagnostic groups.
{"title":"Investigation of the Relationship between Semantic Information and Verbal Working Memory in Children with Typical Developing, Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder","authors":"Tüba Küçük, Funda Acarlar","doi":"10.14812/cuefd.946702","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14812/cuefd.946702","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between semantic knowledge and verbal working memory (VWM) in children with typical development (TD), Down syndrome (DS) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).Descriptive research and relational research methods were used in the design of the research.Children in the study group were matched with the Raven Colored Progressive Matrices Test according to their non-verbal intelligence score.The study group of the study consisted of 17 TD children aged 4-5 years and 14 DS and 15 ASD children whose nonverbal intelligence ages are between 4-5 years.Semantic knowledge was evaluated in the dimensions of vocabulary breath and vocabulary depth.The language sample collected in narrative context was used to evaluate of vocabulary breath. Vocabulary Depth Test (VDT) was used to assess vocabulary depth.VWM was assessed with the Nonsense Word Repetition Test (NWR).The results of the research revealed that all groups showed significant differences in vocabulary breadth, vocabulary depth and VWM performances.It was found that there was a significant and positive relationship between vocabulary breadth, vocabulary depth and VWM in all groups.VMW predicted vocabulary breadth and vocabulary depth in children with TD and DS.Vocabulary breadth was found to predict vocabulary depth in children with TD and ASD.However, VMW did not predict vocabulary breadth and depth in ASD.The results obtained from the study show that the results differ in the two different diagnostic groups.While the results were discussed regarding the contribution of verbal working memory in the acquisition of semantic knowledge in DS, the importance of word width in the acquisition of word depth in ASD was discussed.
