Photovoltaic (PV) power generation forecasting is an active research topic for the efficient operation of microgrid system. Although the estimation of the direction of change in hour-to-hour power generation is also important factor, there exist few studies for hour-to-hour PV generation forecasting tasks compared with longer-terms. In this paper, we compare the characteristics of hour-to-hour PV generation forecast tasks with longer-term tasks, and we also examine the limitations of applying the LSTM/RNN-based model to this task, which has been generally considered as powerful predictor for daily ones. To overcome these limitations, we propose a pre-predicted weather value-concatenated CNN-based approach.

The space-time block coding scheme was developed to reduce the bit error rate for the receiver by transmitting multiple copies of the data during several symbol times. Recently, the 12-QAM scheme with two-time dimensions was proposed to reduce PAPR for the transmitter by removing corner signal points in the constellation. This paper proposes an efficient method to apply the 12-QAM scheme with two-space dimensions including error correction on the constellation to the Alamouti space-time block coding for reliable communications. In the performance results, the error performance of the Alamouti space-time block coding using the proposed QAM is compared with the one using the existing QAM. In addition, it is shown that the performance of 12-QAM with two receiving antennas and error correction on constellation is the best one except 4-QAM with two antennas.

Vehicle-to-everything communications using mil-limeter wave has come into the spotlight with autonomous vehicles. Due to high speed of antennas or scatterers, spectral leakage of Doppler spectrum easily occurs in vehicular channel environments. In this paper, the algorithm to reduce spectral leakage is proposed. The main idea is searching for the frequency of the peak power component and shifting sampling frequencies. Doppler measurement results at 28 GHz in a vehicular-to-infrastructure environment are also shown.

According to increase flexibility and capability of devices by development of processing and communication abilities, a multi-agent system (MAS), which is one of the internet of things area, has been actively researched for distributed network environment. In this work, we present a strategy named energy efficient task allocation for multi-agent system (E2T-MAS) in order to maximize the lifetime of MAS over the distributed network. The proposed E2T-MAS obtains not only the energy efficient task allocation but also an efficient communication power control with respect to residual energy and the link capacity of distributed multiple agents. Through the performance comparison, it is verified that the proposed scheme fairly distributes the energy consumption over the agents, and maximizes the lifetime of the MAS for a given time constraint in the system.

Buildings are important contributors to energy consumption accounting for around one-third of the total primary energy in the world. A building energy management system (BEMs) is an efficient method used for monitoring and controlling a building’s energy needs. To solve these existing issues of the current building energy management system such as the large amounts of BEMs energy data, energy data loss and energy overload problems, a BEMs based on Internet of Energy (IoE) has been proposed. In this paper, we will give the potential of IoE-based BEMs for enhancing the performance of building energy utilization in the future. Within the scope of this paper, the future trends of IoE in various fields will be discussed.

We sought to investigate the mediation effect of multidimensional traffic-locus of control (T-LOC) of drivers on the relationships between their psychological characteristics and reckless driving behaviors using questionnaire battery composed of Driving Behavior Determinants Questionnaire, Reckless Driving Behavior Questionnaire, and Multidimensional Traffic Locus of Control Questionnaire. As results of the analysis showed that the mediation effect of T-LOC had a partial mediation of both internal and external T-LOC relationship between the drivers’ psychological characteristics and reckless driving behavior. More specifically, internal T-LOC had a tendency of complete mediation effect relationship between Anti-Personal Angry of psychological characteristics and Drunken Driving of reckless driving behavior and external T-LOC also had a complete mediation effect relationship between Anti-Personal Angry of psychological characteristics and Speeding of reckless driving behavior. Based on these results, we confirmed that even if the drivers had the same psychological characteristics, the kinds of reckless driving behavior was different according to the belief in the cause of the accident. Therefore, it is suggested that the systems that need to interact with drivers, such as in-vehicle intelligent systems and autonomous vehicles, should reflect their psychological characteristics.

With the growth of IoT technology, there stands out two key features in the device field, the explosive increase in sensor devices and the emergence of services specific to lightweight devices such as the Internet of small Things. In order to provide services through such lightweight devices, a secure connection must be given and lightweight encryption techniques are required to protect privacy data. In this paper, we present the result of comparing and analyzing the encryption performance of one of the most popular lightweight encryption algorithms on the open hardware platform and on the commercial hardware platform designed for lightweight IoT devices. The result of this paper can be used as a performance reference for developing and implementing cryptography algorithms in lightweight devices.

The stroke is one of the leading causes of death around the world. It is a dangerous disease that results in a permanent disability. CT and MRI are representative imaging diagnostic tools for diagnosing the stroke. Particularly, CT has an advantage of examining the disease quickly. The Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) is widely used as a tool to demonstrate the severity of the stroke based on CT images. However, it has a scoring variability issue among medical experts. This study proposed an object and automated ASPECT Score estimation system based on the image processing and deep learning technology for resolving the issue.

This paper describes a system which generates an alert on an abnormal driving situation to a driver, receives a reaction from the driver, and evaluates the effectiveness of the alert. The abnormal driving situations are separated into three types: drowsy driving, reckless driving, and distracted driving. The system consists of several components: sensing component, analysis component, inference component, alert generation component, user interface, and evaluation component. The sensing component measures and collects the data related to the driving situations. The analysis component analyzes the raw data generated by individual sensing component and generates valuable information used to determine the driving situation. The inference component combines those information received from the analysis component and extracts an abnormal driving situation. The alert generation component generates a different alert according to each abnormal driving situation. The user interface displays the alert and receives a reaction from the driver. The evaluation component evaluates the effectiveness of the alert. This system will help prevent vehicle accidents caused by a driver in abnormal driving situations.

With the rapid growth of the personal drone market, manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) mainly used in the existing military field are expanding its application in various fields such as leisure, industrial, and public as well. In addition, the autonomous flight of UAV is being developed through combination with various sensors and signal processing technologies. Obstacle detect and avoidance is the most important function to ensure safety of autonomous flight mode. In this paper, we propose an obstacle detect and avoid technique that combines a 2D LiDAR with a stereo camera for safe navigation in autonomous flight of a multi-copter UAV.
