Abstract Copyright and related rights, regulated by Law no. 7/1996, constitutes a research topic for specialists in the field of journalism, as well as for those in the legal field, both for theorists and for practitioners. This article presents the issue of the incidence of copyright in the case of journalistic creations. The focus falls on the border between press materials that benefit from the rights conferred by Law 8/1996 and exceptional situations from protection, with examples from the practice of national courts.

Abstract This study analyses creativity from a psychometric viewpoint while connecting it to both its importance in organising public relations events and to the ways in which it can be applied to every aspect of an event. Using a focus group discussion between people with relevant knowledge and experience in public relations event planning, we evaluated the way in which public relations specialists make use of creativity throughout the entire planning process of an event and we demonstrated its role and impact on the success of the event.

Abstract This study identifies some aspects concerning the representation of the Romanian medical system in mass media. The analyse concentrates on investigative journalism, on reportage. I have chosen to examine a series of reportages of the Romanian press, starting from the articles of Brunea-Fox, to articles that are dedicated to Colectiv nightclub fire and the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodological directions which were chosen – the analyse of linguistic elements, the typology of the s, as well as the Romanian hospitals’ images – they will relieve the negative connotations of the representations of the medical system in mass media, in crises moments, and sanitary disasters.

Abstract The Obscene Bird of Night (1970), José Donoso’s masterpiece, has been regarded as an extremely complex text, implying numerous narrative lines, an exquisitely orchestrated polyphony and a choral characteristic questioning the human being’s ability to finally reach the ultimate truths of existence. Nevertheless, the author also aspired to offer the reader, even if at times obliquely and symbolically, an expressive picture of the Chilean society as a whole, characterized by a specific hypocrisy, in spite of the so called “obsession of sincerity” that was meant to express the essence of this country in the general context of 20th century Latin American reality. Thus the novelist set up a hallucinatory human and physical landscape where the illusion is the only one certainty and where the monster and the horror are turned into the representative images of a completely distorted world.

Abstract The principles of animated character design have their origin in the same archetypal gesture of man to shape figures in his own image and likeness. In generating cartoon characters and brand mascots, anthropomorphization contains golden disproportions as a reminiscence of figurines from ancient or contemporary primitive art. As pediatric anthropometry operates with the same disproportions, this explains their sympathetic effect on the human psyche. Using the method of comparative anthropometry measurements performed in this study highlight the presence of gold deviations in the design of brand mascots and cartoon heroes. The oversizing and undersizing of different anatomical parts are increasing the individual features and are also creating a familiar visual identity, both conditions being necessary in obtaining an original character.

Abstract This paper discusess Elif Shafak’s novel 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange Word in the light of scholarship developed in the sociology of death, discrimination, and social exclusion. The paper argues that Shafak’s novel constitutes a literary exploration of social problems, and especially the condition of female abuse and discrimination, in the Turkish society and the broader Muslim world. The book tells the story of Leila, a prostitute working on the streets of Istanbul, her sufferings, and her tragic end. Focusing on narrating Leila’s troubled life, Shafak engages with difficult social issues such as immigration, marginality, stigma, poverty, and sexual violence against women. The book constitutes a powerful plea for humanity, kindness, and empathy.

Abstract With the development of Chinese teaching in Romania, Chinese phonetic acquisition, as the foundation of further study, demands more research in teaching concepts and methods in digitalized generation for the traditional and emergent phonetics teaching challenges among teachers and students. Through the questionnaire and interview study, as well as the contrastive study of the Romanian and Chinese phonetic characteristics, this article demonstrates the negative transfer of Romanian in Chinese phonetic acquisition in the aspects of syllable tone, sentence intonation, initial and final consonants, and retroflex final. The acoustic software Praat visualizes the negative transfer of the native language in Chinese intonation. The suggestions are based on the findings, including the pronunciation correcting orientation and communication practice orientation curriculum, the long-term training of tone perception establishment, and the optimized teaching orders, which are explained for improving Chinese phonetic teaching in Romania.

Abstract This study explores more aspects of visual metaphor. In the beginning, we wanted to show how linguistic metaphor created a link to visual metaphor. Then, for a better understanding, we talked about the composition of image, the visual rhetoric effects on audience and about the cinema language and its characteristics. We consider that visual metaphor can be analysed in visual products by decoding, to understand the author’s intention, but new meanings can also be created by the audience. In the examples we gave, we identified creative, plastic and ideological metaphors that showed a strong impact through their construction. Visual metaphor is a trope with great possibilities of expression and meaning, in new cinematic forms.

Abstract Romanian sign language interpretation services are intended for people who suffer from hearing loss or who were born without this ability. This paper examines how Romanian television provides access to information to the hearing impaired community, with reference to technical and content aspects. Sign language interpretation is a growing practice in the Romanian media, too little regulated, which has a fundamental role in social inclusion. This paper also examines how TV information is transmitted to this minority and the conditions under which it is perceived. The too small screen of the performer, the speed of the interpretation, the lack of diversity of accessible shows, even the time slot in which the shows with interpretation in LSR are broadcast, are just a few problems that deaf people may have while watching TV in Romania. The research fills a gap in the field of interpretation in Romanian Sign Language (LSR), being a pilot study that offers directions for the implementation of different methods through which the accessibility of information for deaf people can be achieved.
