Performance Evaluation of a CCA Application for VANETs Using IEEE 802.11p 基于IEEE 802.11p的vanet CCA应用性能评估

Improving safety on the road is one of the most challenging goals of recent investigations in VANETs (Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks). CCA (Chain Collision Avoidance) applications are a new emerging means of reducing the number of accidents on the road by providing cars with collaborative communication capabilities, thus allowing them to react against the real risk of accident which may occur in different traffic circumstances. In this paper a CCA application is presented, evaluating the performance of a one-hop notification delivery scheme for vehicles in danger of a chain collision. Security improvements when using such a system are revealed, showing that the transition from a scenario with no CCA support on vehicles to other implementing full CCA capabilities on cars will at first yield some difficulties which must be thoroughly evaluated.

Effects of Antenna Characteristics and Placements on a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Channel Scenario 天线特性和位置对车对车信道场景的影响

The time-varying propagation channel in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications strongly influences the performance of a wireless system in terms of e.g. channel capacity or outage probability. Assuming knowledge of the channel characteristics, in simulations these parameters are generally calculated by using isotropic radiators instead of real antennas, thus neglecting the influence of the antennas' parameters. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to investigate a possible antenna configuration consisting of three antennas mounted at different positions on the car and to describe the difference between the real and a corresponding isotropic configuration for a defined channel scenario.

Joint Estimation of Carrier Frequency Offset and Channel Complex Gains for OFDM Systems in Fast Time-Varying Vehicular Environments 快速时变车辆环境下OFDM系统载波频偏和信道复增益的联合估计

In this paper, the physical nature of the radio-channel is considered by using an $L$-path channel model to developing an algorithm for OFDM systems operating in fast time-varying vehicular environment. Assuming the path delays are known, a novel iterative pilot-aided algorithm for joint estimation of multi-path Rayleigh channel complex gains and Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) is introduced. Each complex gain time-variation, within one OFDM symbol, is approximated by a Basis Expansion Model (BEM) representation. An auto-regressive (AR) model is built for the parameters to be estimated (the AR model for the BEM coefficients is based on the Jakes process). The algorithm performs recursive estimation using Extended Kalman Filtering. Hence, the channel matrix is easily computed, and the data symbol is estimated with free inter-sub-carrier-interference (ICI) when the channel matrix is QR-decomposed. It is shown that only one iteration is sufficient to achieve the performance of the ideal case where knowledge of channel response and CFO is available.

Residual-Energy-Activated Cooperative Transmission (REACT) to Avoid the Energy Hole 避免能量空洞的剩余能量激活协同传输(REACT)

In a multi-hop wireless sensor network (WSN), the nodes that are one hop away from the Sink die first and cause an "energy hole," because they must forward the traffic from the rest of the network. When this hole forms, a large amount of "excess" energy is trapped in the other nodes. In this paper, we propose that some of those other nodes use some of the excess energy to do cooperative transmission (CT) to hop directly to the Sink, thereby relieving the nodes near the sink of some of their burden and balancing the energy consumption across the network. The REACT protocol triggers CT range extension when the nexthop node along a primary route has a lower residual energy than the current node. The paper considers several criteria for selecting the cooperators, and compares our proposed scheme to the AODV and CMAX multi-hop protocols through simulation.

Scalability Issues of the MAC Methods STDMA and CSMA of IEEE 802.11p When Used in VANETs IEEE 802.11p的MAC方法STDMA和CSMA在vanet中的可扩展性问题

Position messages will be the foundation for many emerging traffic safety applications based on wireless communications. These messages contain information about the vehicle's position, speed, direction, etc. and are broadcasted periodically by each vehicle. The upcoming IEEE 802.11p standard, intended for vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs) has flaws caused by the unpredictable behavior of its medium access control (MAC) scheme, which imply that traffic safety applications cannot be supported satisfactorily when the network load increases. We study the MAC mechanism within IEEE 802.11p being a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) algorithm and compare it with a self-organizing time division multiple access (STDMA) scheme when used for broadcasting periodic position messages in a real-istic highway scenario. We investigate their scalability in terms of the number of vehicles that the VANET can support using met-rics such as channel access delay, probability of concurrent transmissions and interference distance. The results show that STDMA outperforms CSMA of 802.11p even when the network is not saturated.

Power and Interference Control with Relaying in Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks 协同认知无线电网络中继功率与干扰控制

It is well known that secondary users can take advantages of spectrum opportunities from primary users via cognitive radio technology. However, general sense cognitive radio networks allow all users to cooperatively relay the packets, especially primary users are aware of existence and activity of secondary users. Secondary users may act as cooperative relays for primary traffic. We propose a relay selection criteria such that cooperation is beneficial to both primary and secondary systems. With the suitably chosen relays, power consumption in primary transmissions is reduced and simultaneously interference from primary traffic decreases exposing spectrum opportunities for secondary traffic. We characterize the performance improvement of secondary network due to the extra spectrum opportunities by analyzing the extension of its connectivity region through percolation theory. Such self-motivated cooperation leads the way toward self-organizing wireless networks.

Use of Data Replication in WSNs Directed to Special Needs 针对特殊需求的无线传感器网络中数据复制的使用

In the last decade, there has been a major technological breakthrough in the areas of sensors, integrated circuits and wireless communication, which led to the creation of networks of wireless sensors. This type of network can be used in monitoring, tracking and processing in different contexts. To maintain the freshness of the data between these devices and more specifically between heterogeneous devices, an alternative is to use a technique called Data Replication. This technique used in the database is SGBDD or System Manager Distributed Database. This work focuses primarily present an evaluation of the feasibility of replication of database network wireless sensor (WSNs), sensors using SunSPOT as a setting will be used in patients with special needs (deaf and dumb) in hospital settings.

Abstract--- This paper evaluates the usefulness of watchdog modules for intrusion detection. A watchdog is the basic component for the construction of most of the intrusion detection systems proposed so far for self-organizing wireless networking systems like VANETs. Contributions of this work are threefold. First, the component is designed to be protocol independent, thus compatible with any different types of ad hoc routing protocols. Second, it encompasses a high detection coverage with a low detection latency. Third, the previous properties are guaranteed while minimizing the number of generated false positives and negatives The provided design is implemented and evaluated. Results show that a set of trade-offs must be adopted in order to obtain an acceptable balance between the coverage and detection latency of the watchdog and the resources required from devices.

Cluster Transmission Time Synchronization for Cooperative Transmission Using Software-Defined Radio 基于软件定义无线电的协同传输集群时间同步

Abstract-We consider the time synchronization of concurrent transmissions from a cluster of cooperating software-defined radios (SDRs). In this type of cooperative transmission (CT), each cooperating node derives its timing autonomously from a signal received from a source or another cluster. Timing errors, caused by SDR processing delays, cause excessively high delay spreads of the signal received at the destination node. To reduce these timing errors, we propose that relays use embedded time stamps to hold the packet for a fixed period before firing. The method has been implemented in an indoor non-line-of-sight channel, for a twohop network (source-cluster-destination), using 64 kbps BFSK, non-coherent demodulation, and up to four diversity channels based on orthogonal carriers. The bit error rate (BER) and the measured cumulative distribution function (CDF) for the rms transmit time spreads (RTTSs) are presented, as functions of transmit power and number of cooperators. Mean RTTSs on the order of 50 ns are achieved. Also presented are the results of a “ping pong” experiment, in which a packet is transmitted back and forth between two clusters. CDFs of the RTTS for the first 10 hops are given, showing stable statistics after the second hop.

Cooperative Relaying with Feedback for Lifetime Maximization 寿命最大化的反馈合作中继

This paper investigates new transmission protocols that maximize the lifetime of a network under a Quality-of- Service (QoS) constraint. The proposed schemes incorporate a Decode-and-Forward relaying strategy with an instantaneous channel feedback in order to save energy and therefore prolong the network lifetime. Based on a combination of the required average transmitted power that supports the target QoS constraint with feedback of the measured power, an intelligent switching between direct transmission, relaying transmission and transmission postponement is proposed. The lifetime of the network is determined by using a simple probabilistic model that is validated via theoretical and numerical studies and is suitable for practical applications. We show that the proposed techniques significantly increase the lifetime of the network without affecting the considered QoS and delay constraints and seem to be promising solutions for "Green Radio" technology.
