This study empirically investigate the impact of dividend policy on performance of quoted companies in a developing economy. The objective of the study was to empirically test some ratio variables likely to affect dividend policy on a multivariate methodology. The sample size of this study was twenty quoted firms in a developing nation actively operating within 2005 to 2016 in the stock market. It was deduced that there is a significant positive impact of dividend pay-out ratio (DPS) on return on asset of .176. One percent increase in dividend payout ratio will lead to a corresponding increase on the average of 0.176 in return of asset (ROA). From our analysis, we found out that the coefficient of determination (R2) captured a significant portion of the models applied in the study but model two become stronger. We also found out that there is a positive relationship between ROE and DPS of .540 and the slope of the regression line is .129. This indicate that one percent increase of DPS will lead to a corresponding increase on ROE. The study there concluded that profit after tax should be considered sensitive in relation to dividend payment.

Considering the importance of oil in national income and gross national product, the estimation of oil production function is of particular importance. In this regard, Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company as the largest oil and gas production company in Iran was selected as the research subject and its production function has been estimated during the period 1989-2011. For this purpose, the reliability of the study variables was examined by Dickey Fuller Augmented test. Then, the error correction model was estimated using Engel-Granger cointegration. The results showed that the function is in the form of Cobb Douglas during the study period. The elasticity of labor force, capital and energy are 0.398, 0.182 and 0.589, respectively. The Wald test result indicates that there is increasing return to scale.

Land degradation particularly soil erosion is one of the most severe environmental problems in Ethiopia. Achieving sustainable pathways out of land degradation problem and poverty require active participation of people in conservation practices and understand how farmers value the soil conservation. The objective of this study is to investigate the farmers’ willingness to pay for improved soil conservation practices on communal land in Kuyu woreda, North Shoa, Oromia Regional State of Ethiopia. Double-bounded dichotomous format of contingent valuation method is used to elicit respondents’ WTP. Data collected from 184 households were used for analysis. Both the Probit and Bivariate Probit models were estimated. The result of the study indicated that most of the respondents have perceived soil erosion problem and are willing to pay for conservation practices. Factors like sex, education, livestock, income, slope of land, perception, and the frequency of extension visit have a positive and significant influence on the probability of WTP for soil conservation. The study also shows that the mean WTP estimated from the Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice formats was 85.36 Labor days per annual. The total aggregate value of soil conservation in the study is 10,909,349 person days per annum (196,368,282 ETB) from double bound CVM. The study concluded that farmers have perceived soil erosion problem and they are willing to pay in terms of labor contribution for improved soil conservation practice. Therefore, policy implication suggested was any policy intervention designed to address soil erosion problems have needed to take in to account these characteristics.

Celebrity endorsement practices are referred in many studies in relations to behavioral and cognitive perspectives across the markets and product scopes. The notion of effectiveness of celebrity endorsement is noted as one of the niches in many empirical studies. Meanwhile, multiplicity has been postulated as another investigation area that claims further investigations to determine its influence on the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement. Besides, industry significance and empirical gaps found in recent studies note services sector as a significant case to examine the overall effectiveness of celebrity endorsement on endorsedbrand evaluation. Meanwhile, consumer-celebrity emotional bond resulted via celebrity worship motives has also being emphasized as a mechanism that patterns the influence of celebrity endorsement on perceived brand evaluation. Accordingly, this paper focuses to postulate how the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement influences perceived brand evaluation in services sector brands by specifying Sri Lanka as a specific context. Paper referred the source-based factors and multiplicity, which is a context of management –based factors, to determine the overall effectiveness of celebrity endorsement whilst Brand Trust and Brand Love and Brand Attitudes were highlighted as different facets of perceived brand evaluation. It has pointed out the industry significance of the celebrity endorsement practices in Sri Lanka within the services scope by concluding managerial implications. Finally, paper postulates future research directions with reference to the relationship between effectiveness of celebrity endorsement and perceived brand evaluation.
