EXPERIENCE OF THE EFFICIENCY OF PARTICIPATION OF THE SUPERVISORS OF MEASURES FOR ASSISTING PARENTS IN REALISING CHILD WELFARE IN METHOD ORIENTED SUPERVISION ABSTRACT Method oriented supervision is a supervision defined as a process, whereas referent material serves professional interaction of a supervisees with a client. A unique accent in method oriented supervision is on the educational component, deepened casework structure and on the professional development phase of the supervisor. This paper represents part of the qualitative research of experience in the effectiveness of participation in method oriented supervision of supervisors of measures for the protection of child welfare who conduct professional assistance and support measures in exercising child care. This study included 17 participants who, conduct measures in the Centre of Social Welfare in Osijek, Našice, and Donji Miholjac. They participated in method oriented supervision. The research was conducted by a method of semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis was used for data processing. The results of the research show that supervisors of measures for the protection of child welfare recognize the benefits of participating in method oriented supervision as generic and specific, and in general they describe the feeling of greater achievement in working with families and changes in the relationship with the families in which they implement the measure of professional help and support. Supervisors of measures for the protection of child welfare obtained support and they divided the effects of method oriented supervision into generic and specific ones. Also, the paper describes the special features of method oriented supervision recognized by supervisors of measures for the protection of child welfare in relation to other forms of supervision in which they participated. THE CONTRIBUTION OF ASPECTS OF INDIVIDUAL RESILIENCE IN EXPLAINING ADOLESCENTS’ RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to determine the contribution of aspects of individual resilience in explaining risky sexual behaviors as a basis for evidence-based intervention planning to promote positive development/prevention of risky behaviours in young people. The sample of the study included 1,647 students from the Varaždin County, Croatia, and the age of the participants ranged from 14 to 19 years. To achieve the objectives of this work, descriptive statistics methods (arithmetic mean, frequencies) and a multivariate logistic regression model with a complex sample design were used. The data showed that 8.9% of adolescents reported having had sexual intercourse at the age of 14 years and 33.4% before the age of 16 years. Among adolescents who reported experience with sexual intercourse, 21% reported having had sexual intercourse with more than three partners, while 43.9% reported not always using condoms. The data showed that among the study participants, the most salient components of individual resilience were goals and aspirations and self-efficacy, while the least salient components were cooperation and communication and problem-solving skills. In addition, the multivariate logistic regression model conducted with a complex sample design revealed that cooperation and communication, self-efficacy, empathy, problem-solving skills, self-awareness, and goals and aspirations together could partly explain risky sexual behavior. The results suggest that the adolescents who rate their self-efficacy higher than others are more likely to belong to the risky sexual behavior group than to the non-risky sexual behavior group, while the adolescents who report having higher goals and aspirations are less likely to belong to the risky sexual behavior group than to the non-risky sexual behavior group. DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AN ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURAL MEASURE IN SOCIAL WELFARE SETTINGS 社会福利环境中组织文化措施的发展和验证

ABSTRACT Organizational culture refers to the norms, beliefs, and values imbedded in an organization that may profoundly affect various working outcomes of the organization. Due to a lack of well-validated measures of organizational culture in social welfare settings, organizational cultural research conducted in social work and social service is scarce. The main purpose of this study is to develop and validate an organizational culture measure, Organizational Culture Scale in Social Welfare (OCS-SW), for use in social work and social service research. The study is based on a total sample of 891 practitioners in a major and well-established social welfare organization in Hong Kong. OCS-SW contains five cultural aspects: a) service mission and values, b) management and leadership, c) professional development and training, d) working conditions and environment, and e) teamwork and relations. The five cultural aspects of OCS-SW were empircally confirmed to load on an overall organizational culture of social welfare from the results of Rasch modeling, supporting its construct validity. In addition, the adequate internal reliability, concurrent validity, criterion validity, and predictive validity of OCS-SW and its subscales were well supported in subsequent analyses. The current study confirmed that OCS-SW has practical utility in assessing organizational culture in social work and social service research. Study limitations and future research are discussed.

ABSTRACT The research intended to establish a connection between complex posttraumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) and the accepting/rejecting parenting of mothers, survivors of complex trauma. The goal was also to examine how protective factors, resilience, and perceived social support moderate the effect of C-PTSD on the mother’s rejecting parenting, as well as how parental traumas and their parenting predicts parenting of women survivors. The study results are based on a survey completed by 100 women at the age 19 – 64. The sample had two groups: mothers with C-PTSD and a control group without C-PSTD. The results indicate that complex trauma can predict mother’s parenting rejection. C-PTSD displays correlations with all five dimensions of the negative parenting styles (lackof affection/neglect/aggression/control/undifferentiated rejection). Resilience acted as a moderator between C-PTSD and rejecting parenting. VIRTUAL SUPPORT TO FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes in our lives. Parents of children with disabilities were unable to go to therapy, due to strict physical distancing measures and other necessary epidemiological measures to prevent disease transmission. Numerous challenges have emerged that need to be addressed, a global crisis has been created, which has and will continue to have a profound impact on all areas of life. The aim of this study was to examine the satisfaction of parents of children with disabilities, included in the Early Intervention Program within the Rehabilitation Center Zagreb, who obtained on-line professional support. The study was conducted with a sample of 24 parents of children with disabilities, who participated in individual or group online work during a COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey questionnaire and descriptive statistic were applied. Research has shown that most parents, although satisfied with the online services and support, prefer to choose face-to-face therapy. This paper presents evidence of online work through communication technologies, highlights the challenges and risks associated with online methods, and raises questions about the ways to provide intervention and support to parents with the aim to develop their skills and competencies guided by professionals to improve the quality of life of children and families. An online survey questionnaire and descriptive statistic were applied. Research has shown that most parents, although satisfied with the online services and support, prefer to choose face-to-face therapy. This paper presents evidence of online work through communication technologies, highlights the challenges and risks associated with online methods, and raises questions about the ways to provide intervention and support to parents with the aim to develop their skills and competencies guided by professionals to improve the quality of life of children and families. EXPERIENCE OF TRANSITION INTO MOTHERHOOD AND A CHANGE OF OCCUPATIONAL LIFESTYLE OF YOUNG MOTHERS SUMMARY Motherhood represents a turning point in life, and it brings new responsibilities and changes in the lifestyle of first-time mothers. Participants in this study were four mothers aged 19-22 who were interviewed about their first experience of motherhood after an unwanted pregnancy. In order to gain insight into the changes that young mothers experience in their process of transition to motherhood and how their occupational structure of the day changes, this research applied a qualitative research design using a method of semi-structured in-depth interview. The results were organized using thematic analysis which resulted in five main themes and ten subthemes. The main themes include: (1) The beginning of the transition to motherhood, (2) Taking on the role of a mother, (3) New lifestyle, (4) Social attitudes towards young mothers and (5) Restricting and facilitating factors during and after pregnancy. Taking on the role of a mother was an individual process for each participant that was accompanied by a number of emotional changes, as well as role conflicts. The most prominent recognized emotion is fear (for the well-being of the child, for own future) and shame (due to the condemnation of others). Most significant role changes are seen in the transition from the role of a young person and student to the role of a mother. Changes in the daily occupational structure are visible through the sudden takeover of completely new occupations of childcare and co-occupations with the child. A special challenge in the transition process was the lack of family support and the prejudice of the wider social environment, especially in the times of pregnancy. PERCEPTION OF CITIZENS ON ARREST AS A MEASURE TO ENSURE THE DEFENDANT’S PRESENCE ABSTRACT Arrest is a specific and necessary measure to ensure the defendant’s presence which is made by the police before the beginning of a criminal procedure. Arrest is an “institute” determined by the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and the most important supranational sources on human rights and freedoms, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and other sources because it restricts the right to movement as a fundamental right of citizens. Considering the importance of the institutes such as arrest, a research dealing with attitudes on and knowledge of citizens about arrest was conducted. 114 respondents (N = 114) participated in the research and a pure factor structure was given for four factors overall, and the results obtained by testing the hypotheses indicate the existence of a statistically significant correlation between general attitudes on arrest and the attitudes on the arrest of a person that the respondents know. In other words, the respondents who know an arrested person and who have a positive attitude on that concrete arrest will also have a positive attitude on arrests in general. Razumijevanje rizičnih ponašanja djece: Perspektive odgajatelja i stručnih suradnika dječjeg vrtića 理解儿童的风险:教师和儿童园艺专家的视角

The overall aim of this paper is to investigate, describe, and compare the understanding of the concept of risk behaviors in preschool-aged children from two perspectives (preschool teachers’ and expert associates’ perspectives). The paper presents the results of a qualitative analysis of focus groups with preschool teachers and expert associates from 31 kindergartens in Rijeka who provided a description and interpretation of their understanding of the concept of risk behaviors in children with whom they worked or are currently working. For the analysis of the focus group transcript, we applied a thematic analysis according to Clarke and Braun (2013), which isolated two topics: “phenomenology and criteria for assessing risk behaviors” and “etiological factors.” Among the described phenomena and assessment criteria, preschool teachers and expert associates provided similar responses: forms/types of risk behaviors as well as general and specific criteria for assessing risk behaviors. Among the etiologic factors, they notice factors in all ecological areas and the child himself. The results showed a relative alignment of the two perspectives, while certain specifics in both topics can be recognized between preschool teachers and professionals, which is likely due to the differences in their initial education. The contribution of the work is in considering risky behaviors of kindergarten children and their perception by the professionals who work with them and, in practical terms, in the implication of joint team and coordinated action and individual approach to each child and family in the prevention and intervention of behavioral problems. Child and adolescent anxiety in relation to the type of foster family 儿童和青少年的焦虑与寄养家庭类型的关系

The aim of the study was to determine whether there are differences in the manifestation of anxiety between children and adolescents in foster families with a long history of foster care and foster families with no experience in foster care. The sample consisted of 87 respondents, 48 from foster families with a long history of foster care and 39 respondents from foster families who have just entered the foster care system. Anxiety levels were examined using the Revised Children’s Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS). The results showed statistically significant differences in the manifestation of anxiety between respondents from the two types of foster families. The Kruskal-Wallis test indicated statistically significant differences between respondents from foster families with a long history of foster care compared to respondents from families with no foster care experience in terms of expressing anxiety in all four subtests: a) Psychological Anxiety; b) Worry/ Hypersensitivity c) Social Anxiety and d) lie control subscale. The results of this study indicate that there are significant statistical differences between respondents living in different types of foster families. The conclusion points to the need for planned interventions that would improve the functionality of inexperienced foster families in their multidimensional influence on the development of children and adolescents

ABSTRACT Social work represents an applied profession and academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, empowerment and emancipation of individuals. This paper aimed to gain an insight into the perspective of social workers on working conditions and social attitudes towards the profession, with recommendations from professionals for advancing its current position. The thematic analysis was applied within a qualitative research framework. Research results indicated negative perceptions on working conditions among research participants – social workers in Croatia – pinpointing issues, such as financial insecurity, understaffing, inadequate office space, shortage of business vehicles for field visits, an excessive scope of work and administrative burden, disrespect for social workers’ dignity, and difficulties in establishing cooperation with service users. Social workers’ recommendations for addressing these issues concerned: improving working conditions (amendments to the legal framework, employment of professional staff and professional training), improving workplace security (reinforcing the public official status and increasing security staff), and promoting the social work profession, involving enhanced media relations, consistent communication and raising public awareness through best practices from the organisations and institutions in the system.
