Academic service quality in higher education is co-created by all participants of the educational process, including students. Word of mouth communication (WOM) in the education sector is among the main tools to assess the level of training services. In this context, the study investigates the relationship between the student role, academic service quality, word of mouth communication, and electronic word of mouth communication in higher education. The theoretical basis of the research is the principles of behavioural economics and service-dominant logic theory, in particular. Hypotheses were tested using the structural equation model. The research data collected using the questionnaire method were obtained from 164 students in the foreign language preparatory class at a state university in Kyrgyzstan. IBM SPSS AMOS 21 package program was used to test the structural relationships in the research model. The findings showed that student role positively affected academic service quality and WOM communication. In addition, it was concluded that academic service quality positively impacted word of mouth communication, which, in turn, affected electronic word of mouth communication. Among the directions of future research are studies with a larger sample and different research methods and designs used.

The topicality of municipal strategizing in the Russian Federation is due to, among other things, the lack of a unified methodology for devising and implementing strategies of municipal socio-economic development. The quality of these strategies and their effectiveness vary significantly. The article examines methodological, practical and managerial aspects of the assessment of strategic planning in Russian municipalities. The research methodology is based on the theoretical principles of strategic management, regional and municipal economics. The methods of statistical analysis (ranking and grouping) are used. The empirical basis includes Rosstat statistical data and socio-economic development strategies of the largest Russian cities. In the research, we formulate and test the methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the strategic planning of regions at various hierarchical levels, which allows evaluating the formation process of a strategy, as well as its content and practical feasibility. The results of the assessment have allowed us to distribute the municipalities in question by the effectiveness of their socio-economic development and identify the main drawbacks of the corresponding strategies: lack of analysis of the environment, the mission and the main goal; poorly elaborated strategic avenues; ineffective methods and control mechanisms; untimely adjustments, etc. The socio-economic development of territories is proved to be dependent on the quality of strategic planning and management. The practical value of the study is due to the strong need for timely management of the strategic development of various territories, including municipalities.

. In the face of growing stress in the workplace, employers are particularly interested in management practices focused on maintaining the psychological health of employees. This study examines the effect of the perception of health-oriented leadership (HoL) on the well-being of healthcare workers who have severe psychosocial working conditions in order to increase interest in employee well-being and provide leadership with a central role in this regard. The paper examined psychological wellbeing (PWB), job satisfaction, and life satisfaction together while attempting to determine whether HoL directly and indirectly (via PWB) affected work and life satisfaction based on the JD-R model. The methodological basis of the study was the provisions of the human resource theory management and the theory of leadership. Data was collected from 187 employees (convenience sampling) of a healthcare organization operating in a province in Turkey with the survey technique and analyzed using the SPSS and Smart PLS software. The findings revealed that HoL affects job satisfaction and life satisfaction both directly and through PWB. Therefore, the perception of HoL increased PWB, which in turn increased job satisfaction and life satisfaction. The study ultimately deducted that it was important to exhibit HoL behaviors for employee well-being. Among possible directions for further research could be a longitudinal design of analysis, as well as expanding the sample by including private healthcare organizations and additional locations.

Support for families with children within the social institution of business is viewed as a potential strengthening of the demographic policy of the state, which can add to public assistance and make it more targeted by taking into account the needs of the workers who, along with performing professional functions, also carry parental responsibilities. The article studies the relationship between the readiness of a company to cover demographic aspects in its social responsibility policy and the presence of an innovative corporate culture. The theoretical basis includes the new institutional approach, according to which organizations and the environment they operate in are interconnected. Among the research methods used in the paper are expert survey, document analysis, as well as economic and statistical methods of univariate and multivariate analysis. The empirical basis was the results of: (1) a sociological study involving 500 representatives of all Russian federal districts (May–June 2020), which assessed the prevalence of corporate demographic policy measures in Russian regions and their effectiveness, and (2) an expert survey of 7 HR specialists (November 2021), which identified the type of corporate culture in a large Russian IT company instituting these measures. The findings show that the introduction of international practices at Russian enterprises to support families with children was accelerated by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The usefulness of such practices is highly valued by employees. The case study of the IT company reveals that it uses an innovative type of corporate culture. We demonstrate that the integration of demographic policy into a corporate culture of this type increases labour productivity, forms a positive public and corporate image of the company and contributes to its investment attractiveness.

Academic personnel routinely carry out a wide range of teaching, research, administrative, and expert functions. However, many of them do not focus on universality, but in fact specialize in performing one or several academic functions (profiles). The article deals with the discrepancy between the traditional distribution of professional duties of academic and teaching staff (ATS) and their actual performance. The research methodology is based on the positive agency theory, which allows explaining the peculiarities of social and labour relations in the academic sphere. The research methods of descriptive, frequency and regression analysis are used, including the method of logistic regression. The empirical basis includes the results of a survey conducted in 2022 of 207 academic and teaching staff members of the Southern Federal University, Russia. The questionnaire was compiled of the aspects of academic, teaching, expert and administrative profiles, as well as the questions about the socio-economic characteristics of respondents, the professional role they prefer, labour productivity and salary satisfaction. The results of studying the structure and the ATS’s choice of professional roles (profiles) can be used to solve problems in the field of social and labour relations at the university. According to the findings, the share of employees choosing specialization and the share of ‘universal’ employees were distributed equally; a discrepancy was found between respondents’ preference for performing one or another function and the actual work they do in the academic field. It was revealed that the specialization of work in a certain profile has a significant impact on labour productivity, and an increase in the number of work profiles reduces the likelihood of being in a group of employees satisfied with the correlation between their salary and the volume and complexity of the work performed.

One of the promising areas of business analysis is the development of new methods and tools for accounting of nonfinancial and non-numeric information. There is a significant number of theoretical and practical solutions in this field; however, the issues of the transformation dynamics of companies’ business vocabulary need to be studied more extensively. The article aims to identify and interpret latent information reflecting strategic guidelines and conditions for the economic development of Russian enterprises. The methodology of the study is based on the concepts of narrative economics and multimodal business analytics, which is a system of scientific-practical methods for analyzing the activities of economic entities through the use of data from heterogeneous sources. The Data Mining methods and tools for analyzing and systematizing large volumes of textual information were used. The data for research were retrieved from the annual reports of the largest Russian companies for 2018–2020. Among the main indicators of the business vocabulary transformation considered in the paper are the occurrence of unique key tokens (UKTs) and the dynamics of its change, as well as the main contexts of UKTs relevant to the problem of development. The findings indicate noticeable changes in the vocabulary of Russian companies’ annual reports, such as a decline in covering formal aspects of economic activity and a growing debate on the development in the presence of risk. It is shown that these trends were most clearly manifested in the reports of metallurgical and energy enterprises. The research results can serve as a basis for enhancing the analytical and predictive effectiveness of modern business analysis

The article aims to empirically test the hypothesis on the impact of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) practices and employees’ personal environmental concerns on the performance of Russian companies. The methodological basis is the theory of corporate social and environmental responsibility embodied in the ESG concept. Exploratory factor analysis and linear regression are used to assess individual factors of corporate responsibility and personal environmental concerns on the ability of companies to perform better, i.e. to achieve their long-term goals. The empirical basis is the survey data of 339 employees of Russian companies. The research results show that strategic aspects of environmental responsibility and corporate governance are strongly connected within a single theoretical framework, while social responsibility of companies and environmental concern can be identified as a separate area of managerial efforts. Originality of the chosen approach is related to the proposed structured questionnaire that reveals various aspects of personal environmental concern and contributes to ESG practices assessment. The conducted regression analysis has demonstrated a positive impact of ESG strategies on the performance of the Russian companies in question, showing that social responsibility plays a decisive role in the ESG formula. Environmental concerns of employees do not have a significant effect on their personal assessment of organizational performance. The authors propose that managers should implement the most relevant ESG practices discussed in this article to sustain high levels of organizational performance.

In the article, we look at scientometric indicators to deal with the issues of reforming the science management system in Russia formed in the 2010th. Among the directions of the reform is to preserve the quality of Russian economic journals in the face of scientific ostracism and the vanishing of international scientometric standards. The theoretical basis of the study is comprised of scientometric management and a set of bibliometric and expert approaches to evaluating research periodicals. The method of comparative analysis was applied. The data for research were retrieved from international citation databases Web of Science and Scopus, as well as the Russian electronic library eLibrary.ru (RSCI). Having performed a comparative analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the scientometric management system, we have developed an organizational scheme for the market of the Russian economic journals, which eliminated distortions in their assessment and kept a prime focus on the content of articles published. The new management paradigm emerging is determined by the specificity of the current stage of world development, which is to diminish the role of scientific journals. The authors propose both a set of strategic measures for the restructuring of the Russian information space and tactical steps that allow the management of Russian periodicals on economics to maintain and enhance their quality. The theoretical and practical value of the study lies in the need to ensure a high level of scientific publications in the context of the disintegration of the world scientific community.

The increasing impact of scientometrics and formal approaches to science management distorts employee motivation, which, in turn, impedes the growth and accumulation of scientific knowledge. The paper aims to gauge public opinion on the paternalistic state activity in the field of science using the results of a sociological survey. The methodological basis includes the principles of paternalism and scientometric management. The study uses the results of the survey of the economic community held by the New Economic Association in 2022. The methods of regression analysis and factor analysis modified for multiway data were applied. Formalization and bureaucratization of science management processes are viewed within the framework of the well-known conflict between the Higher Attestation Commission and the RSCI, which created numerous barriers for researchers who prepared candidate and doctoral dissertations. To assess the attitude of experts to the current situation, it is necessary to obtain a constant sociological cross-section of opinions, if possible. Public monitoring of economic journals and the MW-analysis methodology made it possible to rank journals for the year of 2022. The compiled private and aggregate rankings contain information about the preferences of the economic community and are markedly different from the RSCI scientometric-based indicators. The paper also presents an expert assessment of the proposals for reforming the journal activity, in particular, the proposal of creating material incentives by research periodicals for scientists to prepare high-quality articles.

Choosing a publishing model is crucial for an academic journal which aims to increase international visibility, cover a wide readership and strengthen its position in international scientometric databases. The article investigates the publishing models of Russian economic and sociological journals indexed in Scopus. The methodological basis of the study is the general principles of scientometric management. The methods of content analysis and citation analysis were used. The information base covers the data retrieved from the Russian Science Citation Index and international scientometric databases Scopus, Scimago Journal & Country Rank. We propose an approach that helps establish a correlation between Russian articles’ citation rate in the international environment and their publication language. In the course of the study, we analyse 30 journals and carry out a quantitative and qualitative assessment of their citations. The paper provides a typology of publication models and categorises them into nine groups according to the share of English-language articles, their publication frequency and specificity in relation to the Russian-language content. Having analysed the journals’ citation indicators, we identify the models that do not impede the journals’ integration into the international environment and are most effective in achieving high citation rates and reaching a wide international readership. Publishing two Russian and English parallel versions of the same journal is recognized as the best practice. The findings can be of use to research institutions and editorial offices in designing journal promotion strategies and strengthening their positions in international scientometric databases.
