A Functional -- Scalable Architecture for Automatic Service Composition 用于自动服务组合的功能可伸缩体系结构

New value-added services are created by automatic service composition (ASC) dynamically and automatically from existing services at the user's request. Complete ASC system requests solving very large and complex realistic problems require consistent architecture. Most studies of service composition are based on four stages (planning, discovery, selection, and execution) and their variations such as integration of the stages or divergence in a stage. However, previous studies have not considered the functional scalability of ASC involving nested dynamic services in which the ASC calls inner ASCs internally during composition. In practice, there are many situations where dynamic services and existing services are combined in ASC. We present a blueprint for a modified four-stage composition architecture to allow for scalability in managing the nested composition flow. A general model for the composition architecture is described and a complete and detailed composition framework is introduced using our model. Finally, we analyze the proposed architecture to show its efficacy.

Architecture Design and Assessment with Design Matrix 基于设计矩阵的建筑设计与评估

Practices of developing applications based on SOA principles need to be renovated to meet new requirements for large-scale data processing and to adapt advancements in IT infrastructures in cloud computing. Resource planners will have a significant role as they bridge the development and operation phases in application development. To accomplish these tasks, this paper presents architecture design methods, which reinforce designing and assessing architecture with an applied Design Structure Matrix (DSM). This approach can embrace development of both business logics of applications and IT resources to run them in the cloud and the methods are established through consulting practices on a datacenter.

Formal Verification of SLA Transformations SLA转换的正式验证

Desirable application performance is typically guaranteed through the use of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that specify fixed fractions of resource capacities that must be allocated for unencumbered use by the application. The mapping between what constitutes desirable performance and SLAs is not unique: multiple SLA expressions might be functionally equivalent. Having the flexibility to transform SLAs from one form to another in a manner that is provably safe would enable hosting solutions to achieve significant efficiencies. This paper demonstrates the promise of such an approach by proposing a type-theoretic framework for the representation and safe transformation of SLAs. Based on that framework, the paper describes a methodical approach for the inference of efficient and safe mappings of periodic, real-time tasks to the physical and virtual hosts that constitute a hierarchical scheduler. Extensive experimental results support the conclusion that the flexibility afforded by safe SLA transformations has the potential to yield significant savings.

A Business Viewpoint for Integrated IT Governance, Risk and Compliance 集成IT治理、风险和遵从性的业务观点

Due to increasing requirements, standards and tight oversight from governments, along with the immediate need to effectively manage the increasing business and operational risks inherent to competing in a complex global market, integrated Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) is becoming one of the most important business requirements for organizations. In particular, IT requirements, standards and best practices play a crucial role in IT organizations/departments. The lack of guidance in this domain, namely scientific research, results in unaided attempts to improve efficiency and effectiveness in organizations. In this paper we propose a business architecture that describes the integration of the main processes for IT Governance, IT Risk Management and IT Compliance (IT GRC). Based on a process model for IT GRC and a conceptual model for GRC, we use ArchiMate to model the behavioural, structural and informational structure of the business viewpoint - business processes, roles and business objects respectively. To end with, we discuss the final result and draw some conclusions about the constructed artifact.

Radar Management Model and Its Application in Enterprise Transformation and Upgrading 雷达管理模式及其在企业转型升级中的应用

Enterprise management is improving its capacities, with its practice being advanced. However, it is facing greater challenge of transformation and upgrading, as the result of fiercer competition and accelerated globalization driven by global economic changes and IT revolution. Based on three years of studies of thousands of enterprises in 12 industries, jointly conducted by the experts and scholars from Kingdee International Software Group Company Limited and famous business schools, the article puts forward Radar Management Model (RMM) and Enterprise Management Maturity Model (E3M) from the perspective of system engineering, which provides systematic theory and engineering guidance for enterprise transformation and updating. Using the models, enterprises are able to diagnose the problems with their business and management, and identify their management maturity level, as well as priority and strategy of business improvement.

Human Task Support in Service Composition 服务组合中的人工任务支持

This paper presents a composite service execution engine, which can support human tasks and improve their execution by an approach of human task scheduling. In the approach, the performance evaluation model is proposed, which can reflect the performance of the human service resources objectively and comprehensively. Based on this model, the initial scheduling as well as re-scheduling methods for solving the problem is proposed to find the human service resource with better performance.

Transaction Level Economics of Cloud Applications 云应用程序的事务级经济学

Cloud computing provides many benefits to users including the elimination of up front infrastructure investment plus lower overall infrastructure costs due to increased resource usage efficiency. Cloud applications can also make use of outside services on demand. Since cloud computing operates on a pay-as-you-go model, application developers must understand the economics of their software in finer detail. They must understand how much their software costs to run and how much revenue they earn as their software runs. This understanding comes from knowing how the application uses infrastructure and services for which costs accumulate. We explore some fundamental concepts of cloud application economics at the transaction level.

The U.S. healthcare industry has been given anew mandate to expand the use of health information technology to provide better care and to help reduce costs. Equally, cloud computing is poised to become the fifth utility delivering economies of scale and cost benefits that are difficult for businesses to ignore. The utilization of cloud services for the storage and exchange of personal health information is growing with the use of electronic health records and health information exchanges. Yet policies and regulatory mandates are still lagging and the potential for the loss of personal information is expanding exponentially. HIPAA/HITECH currently only provides a baseline of protection for personal health information while various IT security frameworks help to standardize the protection and security of personal information as well as the security of cloud services. As the technology matures further and the healthcare industry embraces data and privacy governance programs, the chance for a successful health IT transformation with the use of the cloud significantly increase.

IT Governance, Compliance and Auditing Curriculum--A Pedagogical Perspective IT治理、合规和审计课程——一个教学视角

IT governance, compliance and auditing are becoming as important pedagogical subjects as long-established financial control and financial auditing. Designing sound IT governance, compliance and auditing curriculum is a rewarding as well as challenging task. In this paper, we share our experiences from teaching IT governance, compliance and auditing both in the undergraduate and graduate level and examine lessons learned. After discussing the necessity and importance of the subjects to be included in the college computing curriculum, we draw a core body of knowledge for IT governance, compliance and auditing. We also provide curriculum design strategy, student assessment and outcomes. Our goal is to cultivate a kernel so that graduates can apply their understanding in the subjects to a wide spectrum of industries that are increasingly dependent on technology advancement.

Social Web Mashups Full Completion via Frequent Sequence Mining 通过频繁序列挖掘完成社交网络mashup

In this paper we address the problem of Web Mashups full completion which consists of predicting the most suitable set of (combined) services that successfully meet the goals of an end-user Mashup, given the current service (or composition of services) initially supplied. We model full completion as a frequent sequence mining problem and we show how existing algorithms can be applied in this context. To overcome some limitations of the frequent sequence mining algorithms, e.g., efficiency and recommendation granularity, we propose FESMA, a new and efficient algorithm for computing frequent sequences of services and recommending completions. FESMA also integrates a social dimension, extracted from the transformation of user-service interactions into user-user interactions, building an implicit graph that helps to better predict completions of services in a fashion tailored to individual users. Evaluations show that FESMA is more efficient outperforming the existing algorithms even with the consideration of the social dimension. Our proposal has been implemented in a prototype, SoCo, developed at Bell Labs.
