Cross-Functional Operations Modeling as a Nexus of Commitments: A New Approach for Improving Business Performance and Value-Creation 作为承诺关系的跨职能运营建模:一种改进业务绩效和价值创造的新方法

Business processes have played a central role in improving enterprise performance. These improvements have taken place through the implementation of maturing processes with enterprise resource planning systems and the redesign of operations by using business process management methods. However, even in those organizations that have benefited from these practices, performance problems still persist. In particular, operations that go across the enterprise are a cause of bottlenecks. While this topic has been the target of models and consulting methods, performance shortfalls still persist, thus showing that organizations have not dealt with this integration challenge successfully. In this paper we introduce the notion of a Business Value Subject (BVS) endowed with a partially ordered set of Commitments as the modeling basis to establish a crossorganizational "contract" to be agreed upon by responsible role players as being essential in pursuit of sought business outcomes. We also introduce the notion of Nexus of Commitments across a family of BVSs as a governance mechanism for ensuring visibility and value-creation.This model of the enterprise operations departs fundamentally from workflows, cases, and other behavior-centric modeling principles. We also relate this model to other practical contributions in the context of the broad lean six-sigma techniques such as value-stream mapping (VSM) and SIPOC, as well as the fields of business process management and the resource-based view of organizations.In this paper, we address the foundational principles, formal definitions, and some examples. We introduce the main model by using a real-world example and also, present a rigorous formalization under the form of a metamodel. In addition, we present an Information System realization of the model with the goal of providing business visibility and performance management instrumentation.

Smart Auditing -- Innovating Compliance Checking in Customs Control 智能审计——创新海关监管合规核查

While risk regulations and compliance requirements grow, the capacity of governmental controls only shrinks in many countries. Automation provides a partial solution to this problem, but more is expected from new modes of supervision. The reliability of the provided data becomes essential then. Reliability can be supported by auditing services. At the same time, the advent of Smart Computing creates new requirements on auditing as well as new opportunities. Technology (smart sensors and intelligent data analysis) can support both accounting information system and audit services. To address these developments, this paper discusses the related concepts of Smart Auditing. An initial evaluation has been performed in the domain of customs control as well.

Towards Living Inter-organizational Processes 走向活的组织间过程

Business Process Management (BPM) has gained significant adoption in practice for enabling organizations to increase their effectiveness, efficiency, and flexibility. This broad adoption has not only been fostered by a rich and well-established theory to model, analyze, simulate, and enact business processes, but also by internationally accepted standards and mature technologies. Caused by the ever increasing speed and volatility of markets and the dynamics of new technologies, such as cloud infrastructures and mobile communications, we face a new generation of business processes, which we refer to as living inter-organizational processes. Such processes are not in control of one single organization, instead, they are enacted by multiple organizations, where no participating party possesses full control over the entire process. Such processes often involve a high number of actors that might even be unknown in advance. These actors require various degrees in participation, they are acting in heterogeneous environments. Moreover, such processes are often weakly structured or designed in an ad-hoc manner, and have to be continuously subject to evolution. Unfortunately, existing theories, methodologies, and technologies cannot cope with this challenging combination of aspects, which all have to be considered when dealing with living inter-organizational processes. The state of the art typically addresses singular aspects in isolation. However, a holistic approach to these challenges bears a tremendous potential. This paper aims to contribute towards a holistic approach to living inter-organizational processes. To this end, we describe different perspectives on inter-organizational processes and identify challenges for making them living processes.

Real-Time Collaboration and Experience Reuse for Cloud-Based Workflow Management Systems 基于云的工作流管理系统的实时协作和经验重用

In this paper we explore the concept of a real-time workflow collaboration platform. The work presents how a cloud-based Workflow Management System (WfMS) combines the technologic features which are offered by the cloud computing paradigm with a developed resource model for collaboration and reuse of experiential knowledge in workflows. It is based on a prototypical generic software system for integrated process and knowledge management and addresses the concept for collaborative workflow modeling. The concept for the reuse of workflows combines the ability of the resource model to share workflows with Case-Based Reasoning, a specific field of Artificial Intelligence. In particular, a sample workflow of a process in the financial industry is discussed. By enabling collaborative workflow modeling and by providing expert knowledge to large group of users, we aim at the improvement of the quality of workflows. Consequently, workload can be reduced, thus facilitating the work of all process stakeholders.

Non-diagrammatic Method and Multi-representation Tool for Integrated Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Engineering 集成企业体系结构与业务过程工程的非图解方法与多表示工具

Nowadays enterprise architecting and business process engineering are almost synonymous to diagramming. Diagrams have many benefits and are sufficient for many situations. But as the number of diagrams and their types grows, they overlap and evolve, then it becomes hard to maintain a collection of interrelated diagrams, even with the help of a common repository. Besides the very nature of enterprise architecting requires a lot of matrices (goals-processes, capabilities-processes, processes - applications). The paper presents the multi-representation approach for enterprise architecture model development and maintenance. Classifications and matrices are the basis of this approach and support knowledge structuring and integration. The ORG-Master tool joins classifications and matrices with traditional diagram-based technologies. The paper pays special attention to the role of classifications and matrices in integrating business processes into enterprise architecture.

How to Unleash the Virus -- Social Networks as a Host for Viral Music Marketing 如何释放病毒——社交网络是病毒式音乐营销的宿主

With the rise of social networks the ways in which consumers communicate have changed sustainably. Companies recognise this change, and use word-of-mouth communication and viral marketing as means to reflect this change and to communicate with consumers and attract their attention. This is particularly true for the music business, where viral marketing is important. However, at the same time knowledge is missing regarding the systematic conduction of viral marketing in social networks, especially for music. Therefore, in this paper it is analysed (1) how the characteristics of digital music affect the viral marketing process, (2) critical factors for the viral marketing of digital music are derived and (3) the factors are evaluated in qualitative interviews. Thereby this paper (1) contributes to the understanding of how social networks can be used for viral marketing activities and (2) provides a scientific foundation and practical guiding points for the systematic undertaking of viral marketing of digital music in social networks. The findings are important for the emerging area of research on viral music marketing and for the challenges of music marketers in practice.

This paper briefly discusses a motivation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague (FEE CTU) for founding the Business Process Center of Excellence. It is mainly focused on a description of a business process management (BPM) implementation at FEE CTU, proofs of success and best practices or experience gained during the project. Attention is paid particularly to the description of a situation at FEE CTU in the BPM implementation, particularly what has been done and what is the expected progress in the near future.

At present, the effective management of logistics to some extent provides tangible benefits in the development of any business. Under current conditions, the inventory transactions are inextricably related to the information streams. Moreover, data are circulated not only within the corporate information ERP-systems, but also generated in other material objects, which include vehicles and various equipment for road infrastructure. This gives an opportunity to control the operation of commercial and public transport, and logistical operations online. Thus, the main trend of information CSMsystems development considered in this article is the increasing "intellectualization" that is just in the beginning of its practical application in enterprises practical activity.

Auction-Based Parking Reservation System with Electricity Trading 基于拍卖的电力交易停车预约系统

Parking reservations can reduce the amount of time lost by drivers searching for parking spaces near their destination. For the development and planning of smart cities with electric vehicles, it is important to control parking spaces as places for charging and power management with Vehicle-to-Grid systems. This study proposes an auction-based parking reservation system that includes electricity trading, and uses simulation combined with a driver parking duration model to evaluate it. The driver parking duration model is constructed using actual parking data that can estimate parking times after parking fees have changed.

Performance Insight 360: A Cloud-Based Quality Management Framework for Educational Institutions in India 绩效洞察360:印度教育机构基于云的质量管理框架

The higher education space in India has witnessed tremendous growth. However, issues of quality and effectiveness exist and need to be urgently redressed. Institutions need to be made more quality-conscious through introduction of a common and transparent framework for measuring quality. This paper proposes a cloud-based quality management framework for institutions allowing quality to be managed at the levels of individual faculty, students and programmes with consolidated metrics available at the institutional level. The framework offering analytics-as-a-service facilitates data collection and automated analytics on a variety of quality parameters finally culminating in the relative benchmarking of institutions against peer institutions. The analyzed data can be used within the institution for measuring quality and enhancing performance and also by external accrediting agencies for continuous performance evaluation alleviating the shortcomings in the current reports and inspection-based process. The aim is to provide useful insights to all stakeholders and help in enhancing individual and group performance to boost the overall quality. Early results from implementation of the framework in an institution are also presented.
