A refinement of stroke structure for printed Thai character recognition 一种用于印刷体泰文字符识别的笔画结构改进

In this paper, it presents a very efficient recognition system for printed Thai characters. The major techniques are using structural features of stroke and setting production rules for classification. For the former, a technique is employed to re-order the character image components derived from skeleton of character image as based on Thai scripts and glyphs. In the latter, a set of production rules is established with a stroke patterns for character clustering and further for character classification. In this work, 12 clusters for Thai consonants, digits and special characters are grouped together, including 8 clusters for Thai vowel signs and tone marks. The proposed system is tested with over 1,000,000 Thai characters of multi-fonts and multi-sizes, the result shows that it could yield a very high accuracy rate in those tests of recognition.

Effective approach to camera zoom detection based on visual attention 基于视觉注意的摄像机变焦检测方法

An effective approach based on geometric constraint of the motion vector field is proposed to detect camera zoom operation. The approach exploits the valid motion vectors to estimate the center of focus (COF) for zoom, and then calculates the average distance from the COF to valid motion vectors to identify zoom operation. To reduce the influence of object motion, Visual attention mechanism is employed to select valid motion vectors. Experimental results show that the proposed approach achieves a good performance.

A novel approach for clutter cancellation in HPRF stepped-frequency radar 一种新的HPRF步进频率雷达杂波消除方法

In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to canceling clutter in high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) stepped-frequency radar by utilizing the Doppler spectrum diversity between target and clutter, via the DFT of the data within different bursts at a same carrier frequency. Both the signal processing steps and particular parameters design rules are brought forward in detail. The simulation results show, it is not subject to the product of pulse width and frequency step size. Even if the target is masked by the clutter in range profile, it also can obtain both high detection performance and fine high resolution range profile (HRRP) with lower SCR or SNR.

An interference avoidance scheme for orthogonally multiplexed cognitive radio systems 正交多路认知无线电系统的干扰避免方案

An interference avoidance scheme is proposed for orthogonally multiplexed cognitive radio (CR) systems. The CR systems are based on filter bank modulation (FBM) with special filter bank structures, i.e., some of the filter bank tree leafs are virtual or not modulated by the transmitted data. This kind of structure is capable of creating holes in the transmitted signal spectrum which can be used to avoid interference. By changing the tree structure of the filter banks such as the tree depth, the number of the virtual leafs, and the location of the virtual leafs, the number and the location of the spectral holes are also variable. In the simulation tests, primary users are modeled as partial band interference (PBI) located in individual spectral bands. It is shown that the proposed scheme is capable of avoiding various kind of PBI.

Small and dim target detection based on motion integration in visual attention model 视觉注意模型中基于运动积分的弱小目标检测

In this article, the motion integration is firstly introduced into dim and small target detection in deep space background, and a target detection model which simulates human vision attention mechanism is designed. This model fully uses the sensitiveness of human vision with orientation and motion characteristics, and realizes the dim and small target detection through the saliency map produced by features integration. The experimental results indicate that the model is fit for kinds of working pattern of detection system for target detection conveniently.

An ICA-based adaptive filter algorithm for system identification using a state space approach 采用状态空间方法的基于ica的系统识别自适应滤波算法

This paper proposes a new ICA-based adaptive filter algorithm for system identification using a state space approach. An additive noise model is considered and the signal is separated from the noisy observation. First, we introduce an augmented state-space expression of the observed signal representing the problem in terms of ICA, and then using the natural gradient, we derive a new algorithm. The local convergence conditions of the proposed algorithm is derived. Some simulations are carried out to illustrate its effectiveness.

Efficient wireless Digital Up Converters design using system generator 利用系统发生器设计高效无线数字上变频器

A WCDMA Digital Up Converter (DUC) design based on FPGA is presented. Aiming to shorten the design period and increase the design performance, a powerful design tool, Xilinx System Generator is used. The RRC filter and the Half-band filter are designed by using MATLAB FDATool, and implemented by using Xilinx FIR Compiler. The DDS module is generated by Xilinx DDS Compiler. Finally, the DUC design is implemented into Xilinx XC5VSX50T device. Using Vitex-5 DSP48E slices, the complex-multiplier speed reaches 368.64 MHz. The simulation results show that the system design flow based on Xilinx System Generator is simple and feasible, and the productivity is increased. The performance meets the requirements for the downlink transmit path.

Signal Subspace Extraction algorithm for detection in the presence of reverberation 信号子空间提取算法在混响存在下的检测

A new algorithm called signal subspace extraction is presented for detecting and estimating the target echo in reverberation. The new algorithm maintains the benefit of the principal component inverse algorithm, moreover shows better performance with a more reasonable reverberation model. Further, a block forward matrix is proposed to extend the algorithm to the space-time array problem. The new algorithm also allows good echo separation. Examples are presented using both real, active-sonar data and simulated data.

SOM of Syntactic and semantic features based on Chinese sentences with multi-category words 基于汉语多类词句子的句法语义特征SOM

In this paper, SOM (self-organizing map) neural networks is introduced to Chinese multi-category words. Chinese multi-category words are those words which are of the same Chinese characters and different syntactic functions and meanings. If we only select characters of target sentences as the features of SOM, these multi-category words with the same characters will be mapped in same output nodes, however, brains neuroimaging of multi-category words with same characters and different functions will be mapped in different cortex area. Here we are used of the syntactic and semantic features to describe word sense of Chinese multi-category words. According to our experimental results, the syntactic and semantic features can distinguish effectively these multi-category words with same characters and different functions, and clustering result of SOM is distributed in different output nodes. It is coincident with human brains neuroimaging.

Research on signal de-noising methods based on the convolution type of wavelet packet transformation 基于卷积型小波包变换的信号去噪方法研究

A multi-scale de-noising algorithm based on the con-volution type of wavelet packet transformation is presented. This algorithm overcomes the shortcoming that the length of sequences obtained always decreases with the decomposition scales increasing. The new algorithm improves noise variance estimation methods and keeps the main edges of signal well. A new thresholding function is employed, which is simple in expression and as continuous as the Donohopsilas soft-thresholding function. Moreover, this function overcomes the shortcoming that an invariable dispersion between the estimated wavelet coefficients and the decomposed wavelet coefficients in the soft-thresholding method. Simulation results indicate that this method suppresses the Pseudo-Gibbs phenomena effectively and achieves better SNR gains.
