Background : Different delivery modalities as vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery seem to have an impact on early breastfeeding practices. Aim: The study aimed to evaluate maternal-neonatal skin to skin contact and initiation of breastfeeding in relation to different delivery modalities. Subjects and Method: A descriptive design was utilized with a convenient sample from 223 lactating women (130 delivered by CS, and 93 by vaginal birth). Setting: The study was conducted at governmental Health Unit in Aga City, Egypt. Tools of data collection: Structured interview questionnaire. Results: Cesarean delivery was significantly associated with delayed skin to skin contact (p<0.001), delayed breastfeeding initiation (p<0.05%). In addition, more breastfeeding difficulties (p<0.001). Conclusion and Recommendations: The study concluded that CS had a negative effect on early breastfeeding practices. Women who have had a caesarean delivery should receive additional support and learn more about breastfeeding technique. In addition, women should be encouraged to seek antenatal care on a regular basis.

Background : Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are among the most common types of nosocomial infections. Approximately 30% of these cases have been reduced in the United States of America by using multidimensional preventive approaches including the CAUTIs bundle. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of implementing the CAUTIs bundle on the prevention of hospital-acquired urinary tract infection among critically ill patients. Method: A quasi-experimental research design was used with a convenience sample of 80 patients recruited from three intensive care units affiliated with an Egyptian University Hospital. The participants were randomly assigned either in the CAUTIs bundle group who received the CAUTIs bundle care or the traditional care group who received the routine care of the unit. Data were collected using three tools: urinary catheter insertion tool, urinary catheter maintenance checklist, and CAUTIs rate checklist. Results: The results revealed statistically significant differences between both groups regarding the implementation of insertion and maintenance bundles. implementation of the CAUTIs bundle has resulted in an approximately 50% decrease in the CAUTIs rate between the studied group. A low CAUTIs rate was noted among CAUTIs bundle patients (16.5 per 1000) than traditional care patients (30.7 per 1000). Conclusion and Recommendations: Implementation of the CAUTIs bundle was significantly effective in reducing the CAUTIs rates among critically ill patients. This urged the need for incorporating such bundle elements in patients' daily routine care in intensive care units. Further large-scale investigations are recommended to enrich the evidence related to urinary catheter care.

Background Trauma is a serious public health problem and one of the most common causes of disability and mortality all over the world. Globally, roads mortality continues to be unacceptably high, with an estimated 1.35 million people dying each year. This high prevalence leads to increased treatment costs, disease burden, and workload of treatment staff, particularly nurses. In intensive care units, numerous scoring systems are used to predict patients' morbidity and mortality which is significant for better treatment planning and improving the overall patient care quality. This review aimed to present an overview summary of trauma, its incidence, and the current evidence related to the use of the Glasgow coma scale and the full outline of unresponsiveness score in the prediction of traumatized patients’ outcomes in intensive care units.

Background : Subcutaneous anticoagulant injection frequently result in pain, swelling, and bruising at the injection site. Cold compresses are a pain-relieving treatment that works by lowering catecholamine levels, raising endorphin levels, and delaying pain signal transmission to the central nervous system. Aim of the study: To evaluate the effect of cold compresses on pain intensity and ecchymosis among patients receiving a subcutaneous anticoagulant injection. Design : A quasi-experimental research design (study/control group) was utilized. Setting : The research was carried out at Benha University Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit. Participants: A six-month purposive sample of cardiac care unit patients who were treated with subcutaneous anticoagulants (from the beginning of febreuary2021 to the end of July 2021). Tools for gathering data include: Tool I Patient Assessment Tool, Tool Bruising Category Scale, Tool Visual Analogue Pain Rating Scale, and Tool IV Ecchymosis Education Scale are some of the tools used to assess patients. Results : The difference in pain intensity between the study and control groups was highly statistically significant at a p-value of 0.000, with more than half of the control group suffering bruising at the injection site, compared to less than a quarter of the study group. In terms of ecchymosis, more than half of the study group had no ecchymosis, compared to less than a quarter of the control group. Conclusion: Based on the data, it can be concluded that applying cold compresses to the study group reduced pain intensity, bruising, and ecchymosis formation more effectively than in the control group. . Recommendations: To generalize the findings more broadly, the study could be done with bigger sample size.
