1990s have underlined the great vulnerability of the Alpine valleys to atmospheric pollution. This is the case of the Arve Valley which, over the past two decades, has become infamous in the media for its poor air quality. Now understood to be a significant public health issue, air pollution in this region has become a major source of fear and anxiety for part of the local population. Though this contrasts sharply with past therapeutic representations of the mountains as mentioned above, current fears around air quality in the Arve Valley find themselves echoed in broader societal debates around environmental health and eco-anxiety.

and the wilderness more particularly - is becoming more and more important within tourist imaginaries as it symbolize a break with the stress of everyday life. This study, carried out in Banff National Park, in Canada, tries in particular to illustrate these new ways of dealing with nature. These tourist practices are not without effects on the environment: as we will see through field observations that these protected territories are quickly taken over and are now overwhelmed by their success. The mountain regions and certain natural areas then suddenly undergo strong anthropogenic pressures, leaving certain managers “stunned” by this influx of visitors in search of connections with nature.

qu’a connu la montagne corse après la seconde guerre mondiale et les pratiques de l’élevage pastoral actuel, l’article montre que l’échec de deux politiques publiques de gestion sanitaire est lié aux décalages entre les enjeux portés par la politique publique de gestion de la santé animale d’un côté et ceux de l’élevage pastoral de l’autre. Les acteurs locaux en lien avec la gestion de la santé se mobilisent et construisent des dispositifs intermédiaires de concertation et de coordination pour apporter des réponses à des situations de blocage, par l’enchâssement des enjeux de gestion et de surveillance nationaux dans des dynamiques territoriales. L’article propose la notion de territoire de santé pour décrire l’émergence d’une action collective transversale qui s’appuie sur les connaissances des acteurs locaux pour produire une action publique adaptée aux enjeux de l’élevage pastoral corse.
